Anyone else think the part starting at 20:45 sounds “cute”?
My meteorologists cracks me up. He doesn't like Prokofiev. He says he's too "squeaky". Lol
I've known this symphony for so many years and i still cannot understand why he sits out the english horn at the end of the 2nd movement
he liked to be paradoxical just for the sake of it. i think i can even think of other places in the scores where he can't be bothered with EH.

Not the best recording. A bit soulless
Gennady always does what is in the score, and doesn't usually add anything that is not in the score. He is what's known as a purist, and it was always absolutely incredible to play under him in the orchestra. #MAESTRO!!!

Most of the more than hundred rarely listed symphonies I watched on youtube were commentated as "masterpiece", "underestimated" etc. This one isnt. Its weak. Too much Richard Strauss. With the Exception of the fantastic forth movement!
