Can OM-1 be used for video?

- I have been using the OM systems OM-1 and Olympus M.Zuiko 150-400mm for a couple of months and have tested out the performance in video use. See this episode to hear my opinion and see what to expect from this camera system!
All the videos are filmed handheld from 300 to 1000mm (35mm equivalent) on the OM systems gear in this episode.

Great and delightful videos, a pleasure to watch. Thank you Dennis. I switched from Sony to Olympus and the OM1. Sony are great cameras, but the joy of using the OM1 and the quality on it lenses is huge, although not having the 100 400 as you! Best regards from Spain.

the new firmware 1.5 has actually made a difference to video af. it has taken a year, and now it almost works reliably enough to say out loud to someone that 'i can shoot video on OM-1'

Nice video Dennis. Even though I use the same set up, I find it very difficult to hand hold steady enough for video. Its fine for stills, but I get better results for video on a tripod. If hand holding, I have to use some form of stabilisation/smoothing in post production, otherwise the video is moving around too much.
Some very nice footage Dennis, and an honest asesessment of the video capabilities of the OM1. I do wish it would autofocus in slow motion.

Super video just wanted to know if the slow zooms were with the lens or after with software? Great views of the Hoopeo, especially the "warble " it did.

Thanks for this video. One of the few that has attempted video and demonstrated on you tube. What camera mode did you video with? ie. manual, shutter, movie mode and what fps 4K, 8 bit? Thanks in advance Dennis…

I have used different settings on most clips but all are shoot in movie mode, 4K 60fps 10bit 😀 i try to use C-AF TR with bird reg. so much i can but i use manual focus more and more because i dont think the AF in video is very good and hope OM system can give it a serious upgrade in firmware 🥹
Hi Dennis: just a heads up on the om1. OM Systems has a new SW update for the OM1, version 1.5 that it says it has improved AF for videos. Just updated my om1 but have not tried it. But then again, I can't say that there has been an improvement because I don't shoot a lot of videos. Just a heads up unless you knew of this news already and the sw version for the M Zuiko 150-400mm stays the same at 1.0. Hopes this helps!

Where there is a lot of light, there is also a lot of shadow.🤣For me it doesn`t matter how the OM1performs as a video camera, because I mostly just take pictures.
I like to do both but its an amazing "photomachine" :)
If you want video, then buy Panasonic. If you want photography, then buy Olympus.

@@DennisJacobsenWildlife Panasonic are not the solution. Dont believe that. Assign a button to MF. Ryan Mense taught me that, and He thought sony had BAD video autofocus. its a shame there is no pull MF clutch on the 150-400, its Olys best feature
