Try rotating the gate 15 degrees to make a Diamond shape. That’s what I did with my Qanba stick and it plays a much better game of Pac-Man. I found the octagonal gate makes 4-way games play worse.
@@SoukaDeezNutz It definitely depends on the brand of stick and type of stick, so you might have to research what you have first to see if it uses standard parts.
I have one of these. Very nice stick. Tried modding it with a Seimitsu LS-40-01, but it was not possible to re-assemble the stick after installing that. That is with the SE plate. I have ordered an SS plate to see if it will fit with that.
You can also turn a Square Gate (that came with 8BitDo Arcade Stick) into a Diamond Gate for 4 Directional Games like PAC-MAN as example. All you do is take a Square Gate out. Push the Square towards to you. Then twist the Square until it snap back in as a Diamond Gate. Then attach your new Diamond Gate back to your Joystick. Then you’re all set!

GREAT! I even commented on your other 8bitdo stick video hoping you'd do this. This stick is so AMAZING. I love it. Also amazing I can change out the buttons with the top end ones from other makers. I'm getting a MiSTeR for myself for the holidays, and this will make it SO good for all it's arcade cores, and even most console cores. I've been using it for emulation on PC and it's just amazing, even been helping shave off time from some of my speedruns even.

Hi, i just received this as a gift. I have a question, is the control stick supposed to have a free 'twirl' to it? what I mean is, my joystick seems to have unlimited 'twirl', that is, the ball can rotate 360' quite easily without registering a directional input. if i push the stick i get easy and perfect movement, but I wasn't expecting the actual control stick ball to have this free travel. What do you think is it a faulty unit or is this how its supposed to be?
As I understand X-input is strictly a PC standard and has nothing to do with Xbox consoles themselves, even though many xbox controllers support it. So apple supporting the XB1 standard does nothing for x-input devices. Ironically apple does support x-input as an interface for accesibility switches and I have gotten 8bitdo controllers to work with some apple devices this way.
Been checking out fight sticks to go with my WIP retropie. Picked up an 8bitdo SN30 and its quite good. However it kinda depends what you are playing and other times I prefer my DS4. This one looks like a good option and I do prefer mid-range stuff over cheapos or overpriced. If it was just a little bigger (but not a 2-player tankstick) to include a trackball + spinner life would be good. Saw the comment below about American vs Japanese hardware and the force required to move the American ones. Well, it was probably done that way because we Americans tend to be more abusive and forceful, and less about finesse.
A lot of the issues with the hardware that he is experiencing is the difference between American and Japanese arcade Hardware. This stick uses standardized Japanese Hardware where is Americans are used to and grew up with a different standard for Hardware in there arcades and so for many Americans getting these Japanese parts takes a lot of muscle memory breaking
Wired connection doesn't work with my Nintendo switch , tried both the supplied USB-C cable and another that I use with other controllers in both ports on my dock but no joy it never got recognised by my switch, I'm on system 12.0.0 the paltry manual mentions needing to be on system 3.0.0 or higher. Also the USB-C socket is very poorly positioned on this it's recessed so deeply you need a child's hands, tweezers or nose pliers to easily get the cable in or out- up there with the Atari STs joyspet ports in terms of dumb design decisions. The wireless connection works fine but that's not really why I bought this though.
The best part is the 2.4 Bluetooth connection which is amazing, the other is the easy modding once you open it up! Issues as follows: No lock button on the unit. The inside parts used are awful. The joystick is very cheap, no need to swap anything out, remove the whole joystick as has a ton of movement that is not needed, it's so shocking bad. It feels very loose. Every button is very cheap and nasty. The rubber feet underneath the unit is not enough to hold the unit firm, the unit still moves about, my feet were also not even level. Why only 2 macro buttons?, that makes no sense. I could see the unit moving when you were playing Pacman. It looks better than it is to be honest. Its plays as well as cheap 30 dollar units on Amazon. But with upgrades it's a decent enough unit that I enjoy.
I was hoping to see the difference in latency between bluetooth/2.4/wired, since this is one of the few (only?) sticks that does that. Good review otherwise. Octagonal gate is a good compromise for older 4 way style games and everything else. I'd love to see that follow up.
