We had reached to the point where if we give present to someone, if they didn't post it on social media means they didn't appreciate it? Or if people is in a new relationship, if after sometime the partner post a picture of them, somehow their relationship is on a new level higher? Social media is somehow a tool of validation. Weird right?
Coming across this 2 years later but tbh I can absolutely relate to Amal here about being private on social media. Growing up, the urge to be more private about my life just gets stronger day by day. This was a really good discussion that not many young people would discuss as deep as this one was! This was a really heartfelt conversation, I just hope people understand each other's preferences more when it comes to social media :) Love, love and lots of love ♥️
Really timely topic. I love the lessons shared and the important point about responsibility. I still don't have an Instagram account because I didn't think having another "feed" to scroll through would be a good idea, and am thankful for the decision. I personally feel that many things today (our thoughts, ideas, ongoings) don't need to be shared with the world. The family WhatsApp group can be good enough - beneficial, in fact, because they are the ones, inshaAllah, who will always be there for support. Keep up the great discussions ♥️
I’m glad we can now put a time limit on how much we want to spend on instagram.I used to spend way too long on these social media platforms it got really unhealthy. I feel like it’s a problem on both sides- 1)people who envy over every single thing and 2)people who overshare. We lack authenticity and mindfulness in our lives, which is then projected online, almost everything is edited/fake. The envious ones have a difficult time accepting that they shouldn’t be jealous over this 😭 Also, ig has changed so much over the years. Almost everyone is posting an ad and people don’t know how to identify capitalism. They are made to think it’s just a harmless post about someone’s ‘normal’ day out😐
First of all, I love your personality Iman AND your sister Amal. First time of actually seeing your sister talking ;) Somehow its a relief knowing that other people have the same thoughts & feelings as I do, it convinced me that social media is NOT everything & sometimes worst case is, its not even real. Please make more videos of this topic, thank you!
I like this topic because it is relatable to everyone and it makes me rethink my intention of why i opened my socmed accounts. A very great discussion. Keep up the good work girls!
Really love with the topic. Personally, I enjoy posting story (not everyday tho) through whatsapp status than on my Instagram because my viewers would be a people that I saved their contact number on my phone; they are close to me/they know me personally.
Hey guys! Another nice video podcast, well done :) Maybe you guys can talk about Canadian values that you both observed + learnt during both of your stays there? Perhaps frame it within the topic of being more open-minded and/by learning from other cultures, making use of travel/abroad-studies opportunities to really learn and understand others to better ourselves? Best wishes x
Ive realised that 'envious' part when going through fb and instagram three years ago..then i just went cold turkey and deleted those two apps.now if only whatsapp is not use for work purposes i would definitely have deleted it a long time ago too.
Salam alayk sis Iman and Amal. I just loveee watching you guys talking about this topic bcs I can relate to it so much. Can I suggest/ request some topics that I personally want you guys to share your opinion/ solution on? It is smthg like how to gain confidence when talking in front of people, and how did you guys acquire your English language. I'm a student and these kind of topics are highly important to me.
