I watched this vid before my AP Bio exam in high school, and 2 years later im watching it again for my college biology class😂 THANK YOU HANK AND YALL GOT THIS!!!
I remember the different phases like this:
Prophase: Pro- 1- first phase
Metaphase- M, Meet, where they meet in the middle
Anaphase- A, Apart, where they're pulled apart
Telophase- T, Terminal, the final stage
Thanks that helps a lot xx
No worries xx

Caitlin Quick I like to eat and watch this guys videos man. I also feel that it helps to watch these videos and then read the chapter because it helps in visualizing what is happening. I like looking at pictures, but they will never be like a good video. Biology is tough man a lot of people I know dropped the class, damn pansies you gotta keep your head up and learn.
David Ortiz Agreed. All the memorisation sucks, but it's worth it in the end.
Watching it 10 years later seems so nostalgic. Thank you for all you do CC!
I've stopped watching my normal assigned videos and started just watching relevant Crash Course episodes. Go Hank!
thank god for this video i needed this for my bio test this week

who else has a bio final tommorow
✋
+Sofieethedork o. I had a bio final two months ago, I passed with the help of crash course
+Sofieethedork o. I have one in 2 days T_T
Ariya Ziauddin ahaha good luck man, i had mine last week, think about it, everyone sits the same exam, if shit comes up on it you havnt really heard or studied much of, dont worry thatll be the majority and so the bell curve will help you out:) Think about it, if you study most of the course quite well and you only answer 80% of the questions (mark wise) you have a higher potential to get around 90% of that 80% which equates to a low A or B+, especially in bio where the average mark is around 55% or some shit, so make sure you know the major concepts really well and in the exam dont get scared if theres a 1 marker you cant answer and you can see everyone else can!!! make sure you hit the 4,6,8 markers easily mate and youll be fine!!!

No one explains it better than this guy
Stfu Trash Can the Hank brothers cannot be matched by any other.
Reale Pineapple do you even English???
TH-cam gives me more than my actual teachers tho...LOL =>
i think we are all forgetting......Paul 'Bozeman Science' Andersen......He could give the green brothers a run for their money
Hank is 1. A good actor 2. Has the benefit of cuts 3. Has no bored or disruptive audience, meaning he has no major distractions from his energy or focus 4. Is (apparently) using a teleprompter (he is looking slightly above the camera) 5. Has perfectly integrated images and videos to keep interest. 6. Has a snappy soundtrack and sound effects. 7. Is able to use a carefully written script with perfectly polished delivery (because 1, 2, 3, and 4).
These are all advantages your ordinary teacher probably lacks. So please, enough "Hank is better than my actual biology teacher!" Hank is something totally other than your teacher, he is a professional presenter with a team. It's kind of like saying "Tom Holland is more charismatic than my actual high school friends." Well yes. Yes he is. But also. . .movie magic / cinema skills. If your teacher had a professional video team and coaching, they may or may not achieve similar results- it is a totally different genre.
None of this is to suggest anything bad about Hank or crash course. It is an amazing product done with high values, a passion for teaching and a very strong work ethic.
Yes, what you describe are the attributes of any good teacher who spends appropriate time in preparation.
Love that, especially the Tom Holland comparison. Hank is not a high school teacher - that's why he's able to fill in the gaps so effectively.
HE IS NOT THE HERO WE NEED BUT TRULY ONE WE REQUIRED
I'm not procrastinating as much as everyone else here ...I actually have *two* days before my exam ;)
i have 4 !!
I have 3 months xD
I love looking at the comments and reading all these ppl who are like "thank you I almost failed my test if it weren't for you" and I am like "look at these idiots who need TH-cam to study" then remember why I came to the video in the first place...
Jake Gagnon you're an idiot
😂😂😂😂 I felt the same way
RIGHT?
i always come here before for my test. I learn more in ten minutes then i do in two weeks with my school teacher.
Virginsuicde sadly true lol
I needed Hank Green to explain Mitosis. My life is complete now.
You have just explained what my professor couldn't in 3 weeks, in 10 minutes concisely. Thank you.

its actually two different people, his brother covers English and History :)

+Tyler Goodchild (tg228) Never gonna' happen ;)
YES
What type of physics (I do support it)
Good god, yes! love physics
Wish granted
IPMAT
Interphase: copy’s
Prophase: nucleus membrane disappearing
Metaphase: copy’s line up in the middle cell
Anaphase: copy’s are pulled apart to different sides
Telophase: new membrane forms around the chromosome
Cytokinesis: they divide into daughter cells
I hope this simplified every thing and helped you, let me know if 8t did :D
The real evolution is me having watched this exact video in seventh grade and now watching it as a sophomore in college... life moves fast and biology is still complicated :0
Where is the "my toe sis" joke has no one commented yet please I need to hear it
+Eren Mortel What did the cell say to his sister when she stepped on his toe?
Ow, that was my toe sis!
+Eren Mortel where"s my toe sis?
You guys haven't felt irritation and embarrassment until you've been in a massive biology class and the teacher keeps talking about you and your twin. Not a surprise that I didn't fucking learn anything.
Trevor Spencer Victim complexes are embarrassing.
rob stark umm wow that was unbelievably rude.
This is so helpful when studying for lab practicals. Thank you, crash course!
I would like to thank you on the behalf of us that struggle with learning difficulties such as dyslexia and dysgraphia. These videos make the hours of lectures that seem mind boggling to us, so much easier to understand. The way the information is broken down in the simplest form is honestly a life saver and an amazing resource. THANK YOU
Omg ! I have a Bio Honors exam tomorrow & I am literally going to watch this over and over again. You explain it 1000x better than my teacher. Thank you !
I wish that the Interphase portion of this video was more detailed. Where is the G1 phase, S phase, G2 phase?
I don't think you replied in time...
Either way, yes. G1, S, and G2 are not part of mitosis. It's all under the cell cycle which within itself mitosis is a part of. They're a part of the cellular cycle *alongside* mitosis.
I am so grateful for every video from Crash Course. You guys have helped me through so many classes!
Thank you! You made biology make sense and have been getting 80's on my bio exams 😍
