In some respects your right I worked at the Dagenham plant from 1976 to 2002 , it's not just UK workers losing jobs they also closed the Genk plant in Belgium with the loss of over 5000 jobs ! As for Brexit time will tell !

Fashion industry Is on verge collapsing. All major European manufactorers will be taxed to death so many long term derelict clothing factories. Whats left will go same as engineering jobs. Cheap clothing sewed from far east and weaving. Fashion labels only have offices & warehouses here. Everything is far east made, so Not just cars almost everything. Leicester Manchester full off disused hosiery, knitwear, textile weaving mills all derelict vandalised and awaiting arson then demolition.

As an employe i have visited the Ford factory beginning 80 ties. The qualitiy of the cars were so bad that we were glad that fords for the continental market were delivered by german Ford factory in Koln the fiesta's in Spain etc.
Englisch workers are so demotivated, that Moris doesn't exist anymore, Rover get bankrupt, Leyland cars don't exist anymore
and so on and so on. Jaguar owned by Ford, Volvo owned by Ford, now by the Chinese ! Wahrt left ? Rolls Royce and Bentley
Aston Martin with parts deliverd by Volvo. English are mostly stupid because the Taunus was always called Cortina, Op still called Vauxhall ( remember Vauxhall was also a bad car ) How can you keep the name Vauxhall. Now Opel / Vauxhall is owned by General Motors and Opel is loosing the market, So it won't take long General Motors will Sell these part to the Chinese and production will move to China. Oh Yeh the Brexit will cost you milions of jobs in future.
