I constantly rely on my radar altitude at top tier, specifically with My F-14 and other BVR jets. I tend to fly at low altitude because no one expects an F-14 at ground level and I need to make sure I don’t die to a tree. I also turned off the auto restrict at low altitude because I still need to be able to turn at low altitude and dodge those few missles that got a lock on me, or in prop planes, shoot that one plane that think’s I can’t get him.
11:15 usually ultra green or green is better, because it is brighter against backgrounds, red is a bit darker and harder to see. But like you says, it's preference.
I learned the map tip from Aleoliepe or whatever the top tier air arcade vowel guy’s name is. Happy to see it here, as it has saved my ass a ton, especially in top tier! I use it mostly to tell who is heading towards me and missles that might come after me.
As a veteran player with 4000-6000 hours in the game ( I don't use steam I'm just guessing) I always watch the beginner guides because there might be something you don't know like the Barometric vs RADAR alts and help reinforce the basics. But I think the biggest thing I would want new players to know is to not rush to top tier, we all want the 4th gen killing machines and players just go for the path of least resistance which is bombing... and I can say it is WAY worse to bomb, sure you get to the end with no effort or brain power required but you die more and you don't learn how to fight and in my experience the teams in jet tiers looses, purely because their are at low alt or are flying in a straight line as 143,000 AIM-120's are coming their way. In addition you don't gain anywhere as much experience with dog fighting so when you get to the end with your F-15 you don't know shit and by bypassing the grind with a premium you miss all the wacky fun mid tier thing that make War Thunder cool. Bombing in a dedicated bombers in fine but they suck because people base bomb in P-47's... and wonder why they suck when they use a high alt fighter at low alt... and in the proses depriving high alt bombers of any real target because hitting a pillbox at 5km is easier said than done. Another way bombing is less than ideal for grinding is as you are bombing civilian infrastructure for some cheap RP your last team mate might be getting dog piled in a 3 v 1 and you could have saved him because those 3 are as dumb as you and are going slow as fuck but that guy can't take advantage of it because he is too busy defending, but noooo you can't figure out how to fight others and insist on bombing in an F-104 and could have bagged an easy kill or two and won the match which gives more RP than a stupid base because bases don't contribute anything to tickets which can win the match, by base bombing you are just being a selfish C#$% SUCKING, F^&&% W^%$#^, A*&^% BENDING, THUNDER C&^%* of a F^%&$ UP!!! yeah I've had some... less than ideal situations with friendly ""Fighter"" bombers at higher tiers can Gaijin just make it only planes marked as Bomber are able to damage bases (it would be funny to watch the F-4S's struggle to even comprehend the idea of using skill to grind)
Wanna know something funny: When I was grinding the f-14 event, my aircraft of choice was the IL-28sh. When I would get some enemy fighter on my tail there’s a really nice 23mm gun waiting for them, now what’s funny is that they are rarely used to bombers even fighting back I had at least 4 situations in which the fighters which were at my tail have been confused on me actually maneuvering and dogeing in my bomber. That goes to show how used these people are to braindead basebombers I often got out with 3-4 kills. One guy wrote in chat quote: that’s the first time that I see an il-28 not flying straight. 😂😂
@@Awesomeduck-rq1gd yeah I did that back in the day with the B-57B for the Merkava Mk3 event, but for the Jaguar IS I used the MiG-23MLA, F-4S's are free kills. if you have a plane like the f5c, and touchdown is at the same time as the f5c belly landing, landing with a gear will make you come to a stop quicker because its braking performance together with the chute is unreal
great video, a tip i'd add is try to not fly off completely on your own At the very least try to stay close enough that you can realistically lead an enemy on your tail to a teammate for help
If u have extra buttons on your mouse (mine has 12 buttons on the mouse so don’t feel bad) have one of the keys binded to free look to make it easier to free look while also using ur regular keys to move the plane, this works GREAT in a dog fight, I usually don’t leave free look unless my thumb is tired or I’m trying to hit someone with my guns/missiles so newbies, USE IT
With my Russian jets, tornadoes, and F4s, throttle management, air brakes, and flaps have become my life line. It is incredibly important in jets with horrible maneuverability.
with the radar altimeter if you play top tear a lot you should set it to 60m (multipath hight) so if you radar altimeter is read you know your safe from radar missles
expert crew is really good on rank 7 premiums because they print sl and most of them need a good crew such as the 3 mig21 premiums and the f5c. and since they're premiums they can grind the ace crew for you just by grinding your tech tree with said premium its also useful for planes that pull ALOT of Gs such as the f16. so no it is not a waste of sl
I usually don't encourage people to rush towards top tier with a premium. Two reasons. 1 You are missing a whole chunk of gameplay just to go play at a tier that you won't enjoy. 2 This game takes forever to master and why not grow with your tech tree.
with the gunners the only skills to my knowledge that actually do anything are experienced gunners and vitality vitality is very useful in super niche situations you usually won't notice if its upgraded or not and the experienced gunners in just nice to have your ai gunners tell you if a plane is on your six so you can take control the other skills only work if you're not using the gunners which is basically never cause if you know theres a plane behind you then the ai isn't something you'll trust
Number one. Furball is death stay out of the furball, boom and zoom or play on the edges. I have multiple planes at Ace have not paid a single golden eagle for them, just by quantity of play with poor quality anyone can make it to Ace without spending a single golden eagle.
I am by no means a good player I dont think, maybe slightly above average, but for jet aircraft, their engine spool, they dont just blast output. you shouldnt be throttling down to 0% throttle mid dogfight, when you do that cycle of low-high-low-high, really all you have done is basically put your throttle to 10% (5:22) if you need to kill speed in jets, most will have an airbrake, for example if im in an f8 and dogfighting, I hit full throttle and just deploy the airbrake, that way I have full throttle output going if I need to retract the brake and get out of dodge. * My reason for thinking this is, jet engines are a process, moreso than a prop can just inject more fuel and air into the compressor and get a much faster response. (props also do take time to gain their speed, but it seems faster when in flight), for jets however, when the throttle drops, the air intake isnt taking in as much, and the air isnt being heated and combusted. Jet engines heat and slow air, then combust it. so yea, lots of waffle, could be idiocy, anyhow, good vid, glad I found ya I also could be just WRONG right now and waffling so, lmk : )
Their spool time should be considered however you should not let that stop you from dropping the throttle when you need it. Sometimes you need to drop the speed quick and that is for sure the best option.
Yeah it for sure used to be more of an issue but now everyone has their op vehicles. I've never understood how the single .50 on the yak9k/t is so damn effective....
@@TheSystematicPsycho you’re right, that is a questionable development choice for its BR. They need to more accurately represent how much force a .50 cal has on a planes speed. Off the top of my head I think you can shoot it with little to no repercussions around 200 mph which I will admit is ridiculous and super inaccurate.
@@brandonfrye2902 Haven't thought of that until know but yeah it doesn't seem like there is much of an impulse on the plane from the guns. I've seen a gun yaw stuff in top tier but I've never felt like mattered in props. Are we sure the instructor doesn't tune out the affects of it?
