My first time visiting your channel .......you have done, for me, maybe the BEST demo of a product's tones ......focusing first on the cleans with consistent and comparable rhythm examples for all pickup options......also.......top points for pointing out the contribution of the amp you used ........Superb ! Thanks .....subscribed .
I really appreciate that, and I do feel its important to do "boring" things sometimes in demos so people can get an idea of what it will sound like without 40 delays and 3 reverbs on. I'm happy that you found this useful it means a lot to me - Jim
I love the color.. that's the guitar you play when you're on a surfboard like Dick Dale there's a picture of Dick Dale surfing and playing guitar at the same time it's on one of his album cover
Great video. I lover this guitar! For what you are getting, it is a great price. The pickups and rechargeable loaded control plate are close to $400. The vibrato is $150. The guitar is excellent quality. A Les Paul with the upgrades this guitar has would be north of $6,000, easily.
I just think it's a shame that a 1900 dollar guitar comes in a wedge box man, that will never not be crazy to me but outside of that yeah - killer guitar
I remember those too, I also forgot about the jimmy adtkins they still make... I guess I REALLY didn't care for that pickguard because I totally forgot it existed and it also has the shorter scale length on it.
Great tones from that guitar no doubt. I’m pretty impressed with the tones I’m hearing from those Fishman Fluence pickups. And it looks very sharp. Great demo!
I just got a Reverend 290 Charger and quality and setup was great, I lowered it a bit but as the neck relief was correct it was just a bridge adjustment. I'm currently looking for a Tele and trying to decide if I want the normal Gristlemaster or this one... your review was VERY helpful!
Thanks Marb, I really like the Reverend line as a whole and I was also in a similar spot for a while with them deciding which one I wanted. The p90s and scale length of this really make it unique more so than the standard gristlemaster which is a fine guitar itself but this one really is it's own vibe and that's why I went with it.
Nice review and demo. Ebony fretboard? That neck binding is nice. I like that "Firebird Inspired" ridge on the top, even though it's not a neck through. But the price /no case issue is a problem. Compare that with what you get with a Godin Stadium '59 at a street price of $1195 US that comes with a really nice gig bag.
I 100% agree, i think if they priced these new at 1499 with a gig bag they'd sell a whole lot more of them. As it is I rarely see them and I think the price really is the main reason.
Sounds and looks amazing. That said, when I thought about why it might not be more popular, my first idea was: it's simply priced wrong. No case, not US made, close to 2000 bucks?!?! Whoa. They should be able to sell this for at least 500$ less. The inventiveness of these PUs is not a strong enough argument. It's still just a Tele. Edit: Full disclosure ... I left this comment before I finished watching the video. I'm happy that you totally agreed with me!
I thought the same exact thing, when I saw the price I thought for sure at least a gig bag, that's why I wanted to make it very clear in the video I thought it sucks that it ships with nothing. The guitar is a really nice guitar, but even entry level gibsons come with a decent gig bag for considerably less.
Picked up a Tele partscaster from a guy who put in the single/traditional Gristletones/switch and it's a killer guitar. The second voicing really adds umph.
I forgot that one had the 24.75 scale on it, when I played one years ago I didn't have the best experience so I totally forgot it existed until you just brought it up. Definitely should have mentioned it in this one
WHy do you think I put the PRS where I did??? haha I think used at 1300-1400 in excellent shape this guitar would be a great deal. it's a really nice guitar but I would have expected it to be around 1500 considering it has no case whatsoever included
Thanks man and yes, the PRS really defines an "extension of my body" from now on I guess unless I change camera angles haha My musicman is a 212HD from 1977
Hello Jim...been looking at a Gristlemaster myself....havent been able to find out what happens when the battery eventually stops recharging? I mean it could take a while...but someday its going to die...then what? Any idea?
It can just use a 9V should the main port ever stop recharging, although I’d bet against that ever being needed. Understandable concern but its really nothing to be worried about imho
I actually just took the plate off to check, there isnt a designated holder installed but more than enough room to fit a 9V in with a bracket the old school way if need be.
I bought a Reverend Double Agent, absolutely loved every aspect of it... except the super chunky frets. Made sliding up and down the fingerboard uncomfortable and I just couldn't get along with it. Real shame, because it was ridiculously well made and sounded beautiful!
I can 100% see that being an issue. If I was still playing my JV strat where the frets are so small from 40 years of use as my main guitar I'd struggle picking this guy up
The pickups 100% add a bit, but this a licensed Bigsby not an American made one so the cost difference between that an authentic is a bit. My only complaint with the price is no gig bag, that's crazy at 1900 but that being said the guitar indeed is fantastic.
@@AudiomoMusic 1 more question sound vise you said pickups of Reverend better than prs S2 according to your taste... I wonder these brand comparison playability vise
Fab review,... the tuning stability is something I've been slightly concerned about! I think of this a 56 Les Paul, shaped like a tele, like Greg Koch, I am a sasquatch, I have to say it looks a bit too big on you, but that's irrelevant, and I dwarf normal guitars! I gotta say the only thing I don't like is the price! As you say though the specs on this Reverend are high and the price reflects that!
Nice looking guitar, but i am not a fan of the colors ive seen and i dont like the matching headstock. But with that said, i like both the Koch guitars tone and playability. With the Bigsby setup right those are great playing guitars. :-)
Yeah I love bigsbys, they are pretty misunderstood and lots of people give them a bad wrap online but I rarely have problems with them being unstable. thanks for watching!
@@AudiomoMusic Its all about the setup. Graphite in the nut, stretch the strings etc. My Bigsby guitars stay in tune great. But if the initial setup is bad, thats why its not holding tuning etc. 🙂
Re the price, these guitars are available from Andertons here in the UK which is not good. They are asking £1.479 about $1,800 which without a gig bag or case is a total ripp off! Even if it cost half of this, it would not tempt me to buy one. There are just too many things i don't like about it, mainly the Bigsby Trem, i have a Gretsch with one and it is garbage at staying in tune, even my trusted luthier tried but to no avail despite trying all the known mods. Other than that, the cream plastic should be black. There are better value guitars in the Reverend range, the SIX GUN HPP is below £1000 and looks far better with a Wilkinson trem that will stay in tune, and has the same Wilkinson locking tuners. If i can find one in another guitar shop i will try it. Thanks for your demo JIm. but this one is not for me.
See this is why I like you Allan, you actually put thought into your comments even when you don't like a guitar or piece of gear I'm working with at the time. I think you make some valid points on it, but I really don't have the bigsby issues in general here - I'll have this strung up and set up the way I normally do in the next few days and I'll report back with how well or not well it's doing from there
@@AudiomoMusic I Hope your bigsby is ok, my luthier spent a lot of time with my Gretsch he was of the opinion that it was not a genuine one, and without spending more on replacing it there was nothing more he could do, so I rejected the guitar. Gretsch now have the lower and mid range ones made in China, and are made with poor quality hardware, and suffer as a result which is a shame. I will keep checking for your update, I hope it all goes well for you
I'm just happy anyone subscribes honestly, I try to have fun and be objective while amusing myself at the same time. I'm really happy you liked this enough to subscribe Randy
You’re making me only believe your reviews. Lots of great points and evaluation of this guitar. Another plus of this guitar is that it gives you p90 without hum or noise
Yeah it's a huge plus for playing live for sure, and you don't need to only believe me haha - all I can do is give what i feel is an objective take on things the way I see them. I'm happy you enjoy it and find these useful still Rafa - you were inspiration for the Reverend purchase to begin with!
It's the one thing I'm still on the fence about, I think they sound great but I still find the idea of plugging a usb cable into a guitar very foreign to me. I'm curious to see what the actual battery life is and if it will bother me in the future

Yeah I'd like to pose with it jumping off the OB pier, unfortunately I don't 'think the guitar would like that very much
I am in Italy, I bought mine out of Tele viv Israel. Unbelievable guitar.

I just bought a Gristle 90 in Tosa Turquoise, I'm excited to run it through it's paces!! Great review!
Fender did those tele jr’s in the late 90’s, early 200’s I always wanted to play one, that’s what this reminds me of.
Great demo!
I paid 3,350 Australian dollars for mine. And I would gladly pay it again. Awsome piece of kit

It's the perfect Les Paul in teles clothing

There's a lot to love, and it's really nice to play a different brand that has been knocking it out of the park lately

Pick-ups, Bigsby and not Fender.
@@CFChristian Not sure I understand what you mean.
Picked up a Tele partscaster from a guy who put in the single/traditional Gristletones/switch and it's a killer guitar. The second voicing really adds umph.
The specs SORTA remind me of Jim Adkin's signature JA-90 but this is more modern. I think the JA-90 is the perfect mash up of Gibson and Fender.

now that I can't help you out with, but call the guys at sweetwater and try to negotiate, ya never know!
Is there a thinline version of that guitar?
I wish, I probably would have bought that over this one for sure I love thinlines
great guitar. classic vibe in modern form
It really is the perfect mix of both without feeling redundant. I absolutely love it!
Just a crazy range of sounds and personality in that guitar, at the push, or pull, of 'a button or a pot.
Its a guitar that if a string doesnt break you can play any gig in the world and not need to switch. It's superb
The guitar sounds as good as it looks!! As showcased by your super playing as always. And nice to hear it through the musicman amp. 🙂🙂🎸🎸

The Bigsby and the Fluence pickups add a lot to the cost. Guitar prices are up all over. It's not a cheap guitar but it's a really good guitar.

Wonderfull review but I was really wondering this guitars' Fret access cause it is set neck 🎻🎻🎹🎹🎻🎻🎹🎹🎻🎻🎹🎹
It's easier than a Les Paul to hit the higher frets, the cut away is deep and it's no issue for that, I should have mentioned it indeed
