This band is amazing been a fan from the beginning . Glad they are still here and I’m seeing them in 9 days…. Roger is an incredible song writer , what he conveys in his lyrics hit the listener emotionally , and makes us yearn for more. Here’s to life!
I saw these guys in 99 in El Paso, Texas. Hung out with them after the show. Roger gave me the name “San Miguel”. Changed my life! Much as gracias, amigo!
Such an incredible song. Makes me choke up big time but can't stop listening to it. Makes me think of why I've never really found someone who loved me as much as I loved them.
I went to my first couple Peacemakers shows knowing FFB&B really well, but barely knowing anything after that. Now I'm familiar with the whole catalogue, and my favorite album changes all the time. My wife loooooooves this song. I do too.
Highly recommend the version recorded live at the now gone "Green Room" in Tempe, AZ. The energy in that place that night was epic! Roger, P.H., Steve, Scotty, and Danny were perfect!

i miss the refreshments tbh. they rly were before my time (barely) but my dad loves em, and i grew up on these guys. i love that most of em have reunited underneath a new name tho.
This song never gets old! That is actually how I play it except for Em7, I just play Em.(and the intro is different too) For brevity i just left main chords.
ррBlessed be the Peacemakers. Roger, Jim, PH, and Nick. You saved me, and I'm not kidding, I didn't need your government warning before, but I finally found my band. Thank you all! _
Daisies stand up on their tip-toes Clouds tumble over themselves in the sky And all the pretty horses come runnin to her And even the dust devils break But they'll catch your eye I haunt her house from the outside I watch her bake cornbread and talk on the phone And the wireless on the inside plays a sad sweet song A mute moonlit statue of mine, she waltzes alone But baby, baby, I could call you baby If I weren't so empty in the head and tied up in the tongue And baby, baby, I could call you baby If I weren't so green and dumb The wind ain't stopped blowin' since morning It's got me froze up on the inside And I could get warm in the bunk house And thaw out on coffee and bread But baby, baby, I could call you baby If I weren't so empty in the head and tied up in the tongue But baby, baby, I could call you baby If I weren't so green and dumb I need your government warning Like I need a hole in my head Well, I won't shoot your coyotes And I won't burn your weeds Your paycheck won't fill up this hollow It won't die along the ages But baby, baby, I could call you baby If I weren't so empty in the head and tied up in the tongue But baby, baby, I could call you baby If I weren't so green & dumb If I weren't so green & dumb If I weren't so green & dumb If I weren't so green & dumb
Top 5 song. Probably 1 or 2. Don't Wanna Know is tough, tough to beat, but a different vibe. If you're longing for a gal, listen to G and D and try not to hang yourself.
Nope. It's " but I need your government warning, like I need a hole in my head" But then they turned right around and used "I" twice where it should've read "it". It won't shoot your coyotes, it won't burn your weeds, ...it being the government warning. Dan
Its with a capo on the 3rd fret, the verses go G, C9, Em7, D, Dsus2, D And the choruses go something like Em Bm, and G, i could be wrong but that sounds pretty similar
Roger Clyne...an American Songwriting icon and treasure!
I will NEVER tire of this song, nor will I tire of the haunting guitar that underpins the track.

Saw them two nights ago (first time since the pandemic, probably 15th time overall). Fantastic set, still in great form.
I saw these guys in 99 in El Paso, Texas. Hung out with them after the show. Roger gave me the name “San Miguel”. Changed my life! Much as gracias, amigo!
Best sad love song from a male perspective ever written.
Such an incredible song. Makes me choke up big time but can't stop listening to it. Makes me think of why I've never really found someone who loved me as much as I loved them.
My fav and I'm privileged to have seen RCPM twice, hope to again one day...

Get to Mexico, sir! It's fantastic when they are there.
Just bought the refreshments 1996 album... great tracks
Highly recommend the version recorded live at the now gone "Green Room" in Tempe, AZ. The energy in that place that night was epic! Roger, P.H., Steve, Scotty, and Danny were perfect!
dude, the yodel at the end... my heart...
The yodel destroys me. Every.single.time
This was just recommended to me and I'm so glad. What a beautiful piece of art!
One of the best ballads ever!
This is a song that should be much better known than it is
All there stuff is like that, not enough exposure through main stream channels. Great band

Saw them at the waiting room in Omaha- this song became my favorite after that.

Damn that's good shit.
Best band since VH
Dig it, man
Should this be relabeled, "ballad of a stalker"?
Hi Alex
Daisies stand up on their tip-toes
Clouds tumble over themselves in the sky
And all the pretty horses come runnin to her
And even the dust devils break
But they'll catch your eye
I haunt her house from the outside
I watch her bake cornbread and talk on the phone
And the wireless on the inside plays a sad sweet song
A mute moonlit statue of mine, she waltzes alone
But baby, baby, I could call you baby
If I weren't so empty in the head and tied up in the tongue
And baby, baby, I could call you baby
If I weren't so green and dumb
The wind ain't stopped blowin' since morning
It's got me froze up on the inside
And I could get warm in the bunk house
And thaw out on coffee and bread
But baby, baby, I could call you baby
If I weren't so empty in the head and tied up in the tongue
But baby, baby, I could call you baby
If I weren't so green and dumb
I need your government warning
Like I need a hole in my head
Well, I won't shoot your coyotes
And I won't burn your weeds
Your paycheck won't fill up this hollow
It won't die along the ages
But baby, baby, I could call you baby
If I weren't so empty in the head and tied up in the tongue
But baby, baby, I could call you baby
If I weren't so green & dumb
If I weren't so green & dumb
If I weren't so green & dumb
If I weren't so green & dumb

I'm Az. He is our bruse.
Isn't it "I don't need your government warning"??
Nope. It's " but I need your government warning, like I need a hole in my head" But then they turned right around and used "I" twice where it should've read "it". It won't shoot your coyotes, it won't burn your weeds, ...it being the government warning. Dan
Anyone know the chords?
Its with a capo on the 3rd fret, the verses go G, C9, Em7, D, Dsus2, D
And the choruses go something like Em Bm, and G, i could be wrong but that sounds pretty similar
intro. G C G D, verse: G C Em D chorus: Em D C D
For a long time, I thought the lyric was "Betty, Betty, I could call you baby."
So cute
Works either way
How the hell is Steve just erased from the band
Peeping Roger...lol
