Blackie, I am a Methodist Pastor who grew up as an outcaste metalhead. I was a big fan of W.A.S.P. Watching this video the other night reminded me in a major way how much I am in love with Jesus even though I get so hurt by the church sometimes. God's grace and love is what it's all about. Thanks for being my brother.

@@Eugene.Palmer I just discovered them last spring. I could not believe they had been out since 2002 and I had never heard of them. I had never sought out Christian Metal before, but given my liking of prog and power metal, I just couldnt believe I had never heard of them. I have all the same influences as Matt Smith. I hate that I could have been listening to them for almost 20 years now, but it hasnt even been a year yet. The first song I hear of theirs was Ghost Ship. At that point I didnt know they were a Christian Metal band. I remember thinking they were a pretty cool sounding band at the time. A couple months later during Lent I joined the "Christian Metal" group on Facebook. I was then introduced to more of their music. I ordered all four of their albums from Ulterium Records. It seemed to take forever for those CDs to get to the US from Sweden. I cant wait for their new album and upcoming tour! If you join the Facebook group "Christian Metal" or the group "The Christian Metal Group! (Including all metal subgenres).", I am JW in there. Give me a shout.
@@Hallow334 Ghost Ship was the 2nd song I heard by them, Easter was the first. One reason I love them is for me they remind me of Dream Theater. Have you checked out Matt's side gig Project Aegis? Only a few songs, but really good! And I already belong to Christian Metal on FB along with Christian Metal/Rock Ministries, and Christian Metal/Hardcore.
Epic song reminds me there is faith every where and within human kind ..I'm a woman battling stage 4 brain cancer I lost my faith for awhile after the deaths of my two children and husband slowly finding it again to help heal my wounds and my fight with cancer ♋

This is my new prayer. I lived a foolish, sinful live until i realized something wrong with me. I was on freefall, drugs, alcohol, hate, arrogance and self-pity almost consumed me, my soul became dark and empty, i was on the way to totally losing everything that make me human, i was on the way to totally losing everything that was important to me. But i found my faith in Jesus, and i have hope again. Broke out from darkness is hard, but not impossible if there is anything to cling to. Jesus is the way, following His path is almost impossible to an average human being, but holding the faith, and with willpower to change, im sure i will find my salvation.

So beautiful! I was an original W.A.S.P. Fan from 1984 and I got saved in 1997 due to an overdose where I was going to hell. I prayed for all my favorite “worldly “ bands and always prayed for Blackie. I was praying for him the other day and felt from the Lord to do a search on him and came to this song. I’m so happy he’s born again. Jesus is so amazing and I’m a Evangelist today because of what Christ has done in my life. ❤️ISA54:17

In am interview he did quite awhile back, he said he wanted to let people know the man he is, behind the lyrics, and by hearing them, they'd know and that was his way of sharing with his fans, who he is. So I listened to song's of his this week, the lyrics, and got an idea of him, Steven Duren aka,Blackie Lawless. Not personal details but the picture of someone who's been hurt, happy, sad and struggling in life, string other times and earning a living, like so many of us only his work has been different than say, mine. Driven, determined and strong but at time's weak too. Just my own assessment and I feel strongly that he strongly values trust earned, love, friendship and if anyone broke those bonds, he was done with them period. No looking back. Chris Holmes is the only name I came across that he gave a second chance to, in his band and it broke again after 5 year's. I respect and admire what little I know of Blackie. I also respect Napalm Records for this album with WASP!!!!!

I'm not a practicing Christian, but was raised as a Christian and I remember as a kid in the 80's hearing my dad telling me how evil W.A.S.P. was. He died in 2009 from brain cancer. I so badly wish I could show him this. I know exactly what he would say too.

I think Blackies Christian songs, the writing the musicality, I have to say is a notch or two above what he wrote in the 80's. The energy is so intense. raw emotion with power chord and ear shattering solos! you can feel his struggle. His battle cry Jesus I need you know you can tell comes from a depth within his heart is sincere and complex on so many levels. incredible. keep it up Blackie, you're onto something with your walk with God! Best song WASP ever made, text included. It's like its written to me, I have lived a very hard life, hard upbringing and didn't even care if I lived or died, or you for that matter. Then Jesus came into my room late one evening over 20 years ago, not in person, but His light filled the entire room and everything inside me responded to His presence. He did not need an introduction, every cell in my being knew and responded to His voice and His presence.He told me He loved me and showed me why I was here and more. It's gone over 20 years, but without that, I doubt I would survive one more year back then. Life changed forever. I'm a hardcore Christian now, and that will not change. Truth is truth. I only wish i had someone in my life, I have lost so much, including her and the rest of my family wont have anything to do with me at all even thou I never did them any harm other than leaving instead of listening to the screaming. This song just made me uncontrollably weep through the entire video.
When I was a young kid in the early eighties, I got into heavy metal...Motley Crue, WASP, Iron Maiden, etc. I also happen to have grown up in the Christian church, and I remember when the "satanic panic" hit, WASP was one of those groups that got lumped in. The preacher's claimed WASP stood for "We Are Satanic People."
Of course, there were the counterparts to the secular metal, Christian metal like Stryper, Vengeance and the like, but they weren't enough to keep me in the church, so in my mid-teens I walked away.
Eventually I stopped listening to a lot of metal and got into other genres, so WASP and many of the other bands that I grew up on fell to the wayside as well.
Over recent years I got back into the vinyl collecting habit really heavily, so if course I naturally wanted to pick up all of my old heavy metal albums that I grew up with. WASP is high on that list, so in my hunt tonight I discovered the Golgotha album. Now I haven't listened to new WASP in 25 years at least, so I kind of expected more of the same old darkness and sexual perversion they're known for...
But here's the ironic part, and what shook me so deeply upon seeing this video... I also returned to Christ last October after 30 years. So to find out now with this song that Blackie Lawless is born-again it just fills me with emotion. I am SO happy to know that Blackie is back with the Lord and making music that is honoring him. Such a surprise and a blessing, indeed.

I am sitting here listening to this song again. I've listened to WASP since 1989. Brilliant. I sit here after my 9 year old has been disappointed by his mom again. He stays with me. And I am listening to this so as to try and stay calm so as not to loose it. He doesn't deserve this!

The song is from the perspective of the man being hung on a cross next to Jesus. "The title track “Golgotha” - we know it’s the place where Jesus was crucified. We also know there were two guys crucified with him. One believes and one doesn’t. I thought it would be interesting to tell the perspective of the believing thief. This is a guy who knows he’s going to die. He’s getting real and he cries out: “Jesus, I need you now.” (BL) I think it's more layered than something traditionally "Christian Metal", which would preach "believe in Jesus and you're life will be better".

First time hearing this was this morning and I'm shocked to be honest, I love the song and that is putting it mildly; I grew up with W.A.S.P. in the 80's and thought they were just awesome because they didn't care what anyone thought. Blackie was just someone who stood out anywhere he went and you could tell, he made that clear; but I guess like most of us time passes and we get older and we begin to wonder if the path we are on is the only path and is it the right path. Glad to see he has now changed direction, glad he kept his sound; and I think though alot of fans may turn away I believe he may gain a lot of new ones. And remember this, Stryper started out as a great band but wasn't going anywhere, then they added Jesus to their songs and boom; the difference here is W.A.S.P. began on the other side of the equation and have now leaped across to the other side. So I'm going to go out on a limb and say this is not some publicity stunt something happened to change Blackie and it could have been anything, but whatever it was; I'm happy he opened his eyes.

I really needed this song today. I've been slowly coming back to God over the last couple of months, but I heard this song yesterday and it was the final "push" I needed to fully come back. A very select group of friends knew I was no longer atheist, but I didn't really tell anyone else becauseI I really didn't want to argue about it or have to explain myself. But, after listening to this song over and over yesterday and today, I though, "Why am I hiding it?" So, I let everyone I know that I'm a Christian again through social media. I was expecting a lot of backlash, especially from my atheist friends, but surprisingly, it's been all positive.
God is waking us up. Even if we have never been christian.
I feel somehow lost, because it's hard to understand what is happening to me since a few months ago.
And I don't really know how to handle this and how to follow my job. There are still many of us sleeping and while we are distracted with useless wars, we are losing our planet and our precious time.
