All the animations on Ultimate are renewed and feel much more natural and smooth. (I guess they did it for many other characters too). But it's sad that DK lost his fur from WiiU. It looked much better.
It was still a flat texture in Smash 4, just different colouring. We have yet to see a Tropical Freeze-esque Design in Smash with individual strands of fur.
sakurai has this fetish with every animal/monster character, bowser, k rool, dedede all have weird monster noises even though bowser can actually speak! so yeah he just loves to portray them in a more menacing animal maner, he just thinks it's cooler this way
