I'm dead serious when I say that the plot of this game is that DK wants to be king of everyone, and to achieve this goal, he just goes around beating the shit out of everyone. God damn!
This game really does a fantastic job of showing off how strong and capable Donkey Kong is. Also, the music usage in this game at some points, like in the Karate Kong fight, is great in how loud and dramatic it gets. Awesome, underrated game that unfortunately warded people off due to its bongo mechanic.

You know, despite the plot of this game being super bare bones, I actually find it fascinating! The doesn't just feel like DK is acting by his primal instincts, but also like it's a ritual of sorts, a ceremony of passage. The fights against the other Kongs, it all feels very tribal-esque, if that makes sense.
Might as well go and explain how each Kong works. 1. Dread Kong: Dread Kong is used as a way to teach beginners on how to fight in a close quarters boss fight. The player is also shown that they can stun them without dodging, by punching the opposite direction of which hand is about to be thrown out. 2. Karate Kong: As it's said by his name, you would need to have good timing and reflexes. Sometimes Karate Kong will try to fake you out, along with attacking multiple times before you can stun him. One way to stun him is once you dodge once, attack him just like Dread Kong. Example. if he attacks with his left hand, by that I mean HIS left, dodge than punch on the right side. 3. Ninja Kong: Probably one of my favorites, only for how fast pace it is. Be prepared to have perfect timing, cause his punches are twice as fast as Dread Kong's. After you dodge and try to attack, he will dodge and throw out a kick for you to dodge. If his right leg or left comes up to kick, punch with the opposite direction. Things go to an even more dangerous turn once he is in half health, Dodge both the punch and the kick, keep in eye on which foot goes up, once you dodge the second attack, attack with the opposite to pull off a..... SHORYUKEN! This attacks deals the most from other counterattacks, doing a total of 50. 4. Sumo Kong: Consider this to be a recreation of David and Goliath, a giant sumo gorilla up against the king of the jungle, ON TOP OF A FUCKING METEOR! Anyways, keep on attacking him until the action of dodging appears, than dodge and hit him twice, than pummel away. After he's down, enjoy the scenery of the meteors falling as earth is in the background, peaceful right?
I own the game for the Wii AND 100% it. I always played Kong of the mountain, which is pretty much these 5 boss fights, so iv'e had a big analysis when it comes to their battles
Honestly forgot how insane the battle themes for the Kong bosses were in this game, they really add to the tension in the moment. Especially since it adds more to the theme as you whittle their health down.

Fun Fact: Aside from Dread Kong, Karate Kong, Ninja Kong and Sumo Kong are three of the Donkey Kong Characters that are named for three types of Asian Fighting Style Martial Arts involving Karate, Ninjitsu and Sumo Wrestling!
Don't forget Kong Fu from the show, he's also another Kong named and based around Asian Fighting style marital arts...I think we can guess what it is tho

Only once they confirmed they owned the rights did they bring those elements back, among other things such as Diddy getting into Smash Bros.
Fun fact: apparently both Cactus and Ghasty are in fact the same character as in Japanese, both stages were referred to “Final Kong” but for some reason it was changed in localization. Also they apparently changed Kong to King as well (Cactus King and Ghastly King)
I love how, Donkey Kong, one of the larger characters in smash bros is dwarfed by everything in this game. Yet despite that, he is still throwing hands with everything and winning
If they decided to remaster the game and upgrade the textures a little bit to make it look more modern and bundled it with some new bongos for the switch and charge $70-75 I would buy it in a heartbeat, such a masterpiece

My favorite part about this game is that donkey kong went from jumping on kremlings to using his fists and beating the shit out of people A master peice of a game
But I got it without the bongos, and I learned the hard way that that was a mistake. But the game is still playable with a GameCube controller, though the controls are all over the place.

I remember playing this game when I was a bit younger... My arms were tired most of the time when I had to keep swing the WII remote and nunchuck, just to get more health and also from the boss fights.... It was very tiring for me

I used to play this game when I was little, and I remember every boss here except the second to last one, Sumo Kong. I think that’s because I was too stupid to realize that I hadn’t actually beaten the game, but the Cactus Kong battle was a fake ending. I sold that game a while back so there’s no telling now.
You play this game with the bongos, right? How exactly did that work? The dodge mechanic, the different kicks and punches, all those little things are done just by hitting two big buttons?
Mate i played this game so much (i didnt have a save card so i either left it on till i got to the end or restarted again) that i eventually broke the bongo controller and had to play with the regular game cube controller. I still mamaged to clear it but i didnt get any high scores and took me forever to finish cause the right control had to replace the clap sound indicator which couldn't be spammed and was only used 1 second per hit. This game was the freaking best.
The only way to truly play this was using the bongos.When you get that banana counter up with a good combo and that music starts changing,the rythm really gets to you and you start jamming out to it as you drum along.The Wii version just didnt have the same asthetic.I still play it every now and then.Hell of a gem this game was.If you can get your hands on it,its a blast when you get the feel for the controls&fluid of the movements.

You play this game with the bongos, right? How exactly did that work? The dodge mechanic, the different kicks and punches, all those little things are done just by hitting two big buttons?

Mate i played this game so much (i didnt have a save card so i either left it on till i got to the end or restarted again) that i eventually broke the bongo controller and had to play with the regular game cube controller. I still mamaged to clear it but i didnt get any high scores and took me forever to finish cause the right control had to replace the clap sound indicator which couldn't be spammed and was only used 1 second per hit. This game was the freaking best.

The only way to truly play this was using the bongos.When you get that banana counter up with a good combo and that music starts changing,the rythm really gets to you and you start jamming out to it as you drum along.The Wii version just didnt have the same asthetic.I still play it every now and then.Hell of a gem this game was.If you can get your hands on it,its a blast when you get the feel for the controls&fluid of the movements.

Great game. If they make a sequel i hope it has motion control so i can replicate DKs' moves to defeat the bosses
1:36 at this point tghe music is louder than the game itself
I've beaten all the bosses before except my hands were so beat up for clapping so much that I practically scream at the bongo controllers to get the vibration defense activated
You can tap the grey rings on the bongos to get DK to clap as well. Donkey Konga 2 taught me this and my hands have been grateful every since.
This game would've been amazing if it wasnt for the bongo feature

Karate Kong:has the most original fighting but, he has little defense

I found my game cube and bongos today and I've been playing all day, the bongos are a crazy arm workout after a while. After hours of slamming away like a maniac I feel like I've been doing pullups lmao

It's been forever since I played that game.. there should be sequel for this one Donkey Kong Jungle Beat 2 imagine DK fighting new kongs while old kongs become good and help him out through out the game until the final boss..
