- Indiana Fever rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has beaten WNBA veteran and Phoenix Mercury guard Diana Taurasi. When Taurasi warned Clark that she would find it hard to transition from Iowa Hawkeyes college basketball to Indiana Fever, professional women's basketball, many fans saw it as hate towards the 2024 WNBA draft class. All these stats should be put in context. ONLY Caitlin Clark in the history of WNBA (not Diana Taurasi or any other WNBA hall-of-famers or greats) is being face-guarded the entire game and 94 feet of floor space, and mostly double/triple-teamed than any other player in the WNBA. And yet she makes 16 points per game and 6 assists.

Also Taurasi was the best player on the best college team of her era. Clark elevated Iowa, hardly a women's national power.

That is because DT and any well known women's basketball player are mostly known for their collegiate career. You mention their name to most causal fans they will say "I remember her from when was in college". This shows you the impact the WNBA has, little to Zero. I have not seen them play this hard until this year.

Taurasi should give up her spot on the Olympics team to Clark. Especially when she said that Clark is going to have a hard time transitioning to the WNBA. And, from all indications Clark is not only transitioning just fine despite the targeting by jealous players but has better stats that Taurasi.

Clark also has higher steals and blocks. She is in the top 20 in virtually every category including blocks. Number 4 in assists. She is having a great year and will be far better than Taurasi.
Taurasi is threatened by the fact that Clark will outshine her and is at the beginning of her career while Taurasi is at the end of her’s .

That’s a literally statement. She’s on pace to double the turnovers record. That’s insanely horrible. ESPN ranked all rookies by stats. You should check it out. She was ranked 6th just in rookies in overall stats. Being 132 out of 138 on defense and the all time turnover leader while also shooting 30% from the field doesn’t rank you high.
She will end up at about 20 point average b4 the end of the season.all her averages will go up..she is adjusting still and is starting to figure it out more
