    This is the mega Oppenheimer Review! I discuss the movie and Christopher Nolan's mastery at his craft, and how he uses IMAX 15/70 film cameras to shoot his films! I watched the movie at 2 locations, at Prasads Hyderabad (formerly Prasads IMAX) and also at Luxe IMAX, Phoenix Mall Chennai. I also discuss this movie with my friend Animesh who watched the film in BFI IMAX London, at IMAX 15/70 film!

    Prasads’ IMAX screen used to be even taller. The new screen lost about 7 feet height but gained 9 feet width

    Very nice video both of you! I also watched "Oppenheimer" twice and I really felt it benefited me at least, watching it the second time. The way Nolan has packed so much of information into it, the first time it felt I was trying to catch up with everything. Second time I was able to appreciate the movie better with all the details. First was in Prasad's PCX and second time was in AAA Cinemas Screen 4 (I think it was the same 4K DCP but they played it without subtitles). If I do watch a third time, I'll try to see in one of the IMAX venues in another city, because like you mentioned, I also want to see what effect the changing aspect ratios have. I'm also curious about the difference in the quality when there's a shift between the 70mm and IMAX footage, I actually didn't observe the shift that you pointed out, when I watched both times. BTW, nice of you to mix colour and B&W footage in this video just like in the actual movie (your perspective vs Animesh's perspective), and the I, II, III sections in Futura font :) I was almost expecting you'd change aspect ratios also but that would have been excessive here I guess :)

    What's interesting is the digital version of the movie does not show a drastic difference in the regular scenes compared to the IMAX scenes. It looked pretty awesome to me across the board in a normal 4K theater. I have experienced 70mm IMAX in the past for Nolan's TDK and TDKR films. 70mm IMAX footage definitely shows a noticeable jump in quality from regular footage. But when they scan all of the footage at 4K and use digital projection, there's not an obvious difference in the image quality.

    Very informative video! Liked hearing about Animesh's experience as well. I agree with your observations on the film, overall. It is an intense film that rides on the shoulders of the powerful acting performances, the visuals, the fantastic score and the seamless editing by Jennifer Lame. However, the film juggles with too many threads for its own good. Focus got diluted by quite a few extraneous elements which dragged the movie down a bit. Oh, and I liked how they framed the IMAX scenes in 1.89:1. It wasn't just "open matte" but carefully framed. While I would love to see Oppenheimer in 1.43:1, I don't think it'd be a terrible loss if I couldn't. Interstellar [and Dunkirk] is the only Nolan film that I think are best suited to 1.43:1 given the locus - space, ocean, air.

    • @KDCloudy
      @KDCloudy  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      phoenix palladium and forum koramangala were the first two imax screens established by pvr in 2012-13
      they probably didn’t have enough experience ot whatever idk, but both those screens are close to 2:1 than accurately 1.90
      They cut the 1.90 projection a little bit from top to botoom to make sure you’re filling the screen. A good way to see it is that on all non IMAX shots of Oppenheimer at 2.20:1, you’ll see there are razor thin black bars. And the 1.90 fullscreen scenes don’t add much because of that, entire movie feels constant AR

    • @koochproductionsmovies

      4:56: The black bars are not visible to naked eye. The camera was able to pick them but they do blend in.
      They are inevitable because IMAX locks the taller aspect ratio only to their own screens. So any non IMAX tall screens like Prasads will have them.
