Ouch that really stinks. I wonder if using a lighting extension cable like this would help. amzn.to/3B182UT Or a USB-C extension cable if you have a newer iPhone - amzn.to/3B182UT
That is correct. Plug the receiver directly into your iPhone. You'll need to press “confirm” on the receiver. Make sure at least one of the microphones (transmitter) is on and you’ll be good to go using the native camera app.
This is a more complicated question than it would seem. Yes, you can connect two transmitters simultaneously via Bluetooth to iOS. However, I haven't found an app that lets you record simultaneously with both transmitters. The Blackmagic Camera App and Filmic Pro will only allow you to choose one Bluetooth transmitter at a time. The only way to use both mics simultaneously on iOS is to use the receiver plugged into the iPhone. If you find an app where you can use both, let me know, I'm guessing this is a hardware limitation on the iPhone. Thank you for the comment.
That is correct. The receiver will connect directly to your phone and the transmitter will connect wirelessly to the receiver. Then you'll be able to use the native app on the iPhone with the DJI Mic 2. I hope that helps, thanks for taking the time to comment.
Dji Mic (i have) when i connect to iphone only gives mono option (no split audio) it appears that with Dji Mic 2 when you connect it to iphone (non usb-c) you can now do stereo (split audio) is this right, many thanks
Yes, when you connect the receiver to your phone and use both microphones the left transmitter is recorded on the left audio track and the right receiver goes to the right audio track. Those are combined into one split audio track. This works the same with lightning connector and usb-c.
Hello! What model iPhone are you using and what app are you trying to record with? If you could email me a screenshot of what you’re seeing to info@mattreviewsstuff.com I’ll try to figure out what is happening.
I am having the same issue, I accidentally clicked “connect as headphones” and can’t figure out how to get it out of that mode. Was there a fix here? I did a factory reset on the mic but that didn’t help so I’m assuming it’s somewhere in my iPhone settings.
@@paisleyspitching See if this fix might work for you. 1. Go into "Settings" on your iPhone 2. Navigate to "Sound & Haptics" 3. Scroll down to "Headphone Safety" 4. Tap on "USB Audio Accessories" 5. Tap on "Forget All USB Audio Accessories" Follow the steps, and then try connecting the Receiver to your iPhone to see if it will connect. If you can report back and let me know the results, that would be awesome!
Do I need to use the black magic app if I'm using the receiver? I also tried the DJI Mic2 with Bluetooth alongside the black magic app, and the audio quality is not great?
You don't have to use the receiver with the black magic app; however, I think you might have better results. If you use the receiver, you can adjust the audio levels going into your phone. Without hearing the results, I can't say what the issue is, but the receiver gives you some additional flexibility that using the transmitter in Bluetooth mode only does not. My suggestion would be to find a fixed audio source you can record and test with and without the receiver. Then with the receiver plugged in and do some more tests but setting the output levels on the receiver to 0 and +6 then -6 and see if you notice any improvement in audio quality.
I’m going to have to play around a bit more with Blackmagic. I have definitely heard mixed reviews on it with the Mic 2. How would you describe the audio?
That makes me mad. I love DJI products but even the cheap mics on Amazon pair right up with Bluetooth. Mine works great with the receiver in the USB C but sometimes real quick I want to just shoot a quick video
Yep, I totally agree. I don’t know if this is an Apple issue or DJI. My gut says it's Apple’s issue. Sometimes their closed ecosystem is really frustrating.
Very clear and concise. Just bought one and will be using this to format everything when it comes in. Thanks for the excellent content
Awesome! I think you'll be very happy with your purchase. Thank you for taking the time to comment.
Hi Matt. Plain and simple instructions. I wish there were more ‘how to’ TH-camrs like yourself. Thank you.
I appreciate that you took the time to comment. Thank you!
Thanks my man.
Happy to help!
thanks, I was looking for this video
Glad I could help!
I am on my 4th set of DJI Mic 2 because the receiver keeps snapping off in in my phone. So frustrating

Can you use this during facetime messenger as mic?
Unfortunately no, you can’t. Apple only allows you to use the native camera and microphone with FaceTime.
So, if I physically connect the receiver to the iphone, i can use the native iphone camera app?
That is correct. Plug the receiver directly into your iPhone. You'll need to press “confirm” on the receiver. Make sure at least one of the microphones (transmitter) is on and you’ll be good to go using the native camera app.
@@mattreviewsstuff Thanks!!!
@@amyers01You’re welcome. If you have any other questions let me know!
My mic will no longer pick up audio when I use my receiver to my phone. It just uses my phone mic even though it’s connected and plugged in
can you connect 2 transmitters at once via bluetoooth?

Hi Matt,
So in order for me to record on the iPhone native app (recorder), I’ll need the mic and receiver? I don’t care for video.
That is correct. The receiver will connect directly to your phone and the transmitter will connect wirelessly to the receiver. Then you'll be able to use the native app on the iPhone with the DJI Mic 2. I hope that helps, thanks for taking the time to comment.

Hi Matt, when I plug in the receiver to my iPhone, it thinks it's headphones and consequently doesn't record audio. How do I fix that? Thank you!!!

My DJI 2 mic records great quality as a stand alone mic, but the quality is terrible when I connect it to Blackmagic with blue tooth

Yep. If it wasn’t for Europe suing we’d all still be using the Apple lighting cable instead of micro usb.
