Have you noticed that when the mic is connected via Bluetooth that the Blackmagic app freezes on start up a lot of the time and also pretty frequently drops frames mid-shot? Picked one up recently and I’m having this issue. Not sure if it’s just me or if others have this issue too!
Thank you for pointing out that you have to press the Bluetooth button to finish the pairing. I watched other videos that didn't show this and couldn't figure out why it wasn't pairing with my iPhone.
Thank you again, used the link for the Blackmagic camera app and recorded a short vid. As you mentioned, there was no playback of audio until I changed the mic source back to iPhone 👍
Thanks for the video! When using the mic via Bluetooth with the blackmagic app, I'm finding the sound quality to be really poor. Its muffled and has a kind of static noise in the backgroud even though I'll be recording in a silent space. Is anyone else experiancing this?
Thank you! This is super helpful. My lightning port actually snapped off and I haven't been able to find a replacement part. Do you have any suggestions for that? I tried contacting DJI and looking on their website, but no luck.
Thank you very much, do you know if it is possible to use that app but switch it to the front-facing (selfie) camera on the iPhone? I'm not being able to find where 🙉
Weird it dosent work with the iPhone video app. These are expensive and even the cheap Amazon ones connect right away. It’s not showing up in the setting in black magic either but shows in the iPhone Bluetooth setting
Great video Jason. I'm looking at just buying the transmitter too but some say default settings are a bit quiet? Is there a way to adjust the volume of it? Thanks
I need a wirless mic that allows at least 4 mics to one receiver. Recently bought Audigo and on paper it was supposed to be really good for my podcast being that I rely on iOS, my iPad and iPhone to do everything because I’m not really that text savvy. I purchased them and they’ve been everything but perfect every time I record with them the last 15 minutes of my recording always sounds robotic. I don’t know if it’s a connectivity issue or something on the apps and very frustrating the amount of money I spent on waiting to see reviews and finally pulling the trigger just to receive a product that lets us put all our effort into recording, and then have the recording compromise towards the ending.
Is the audio just as good though as it is when using the official transmitter? i.e. when just using the internal recording (no bluetooth, no transmitter) the audio is very low and has to be upscaled in post, does this also have that issue? 🙁
Even though my Bluetooth settings showed the dji mic was connected my solid blue light didn’t come on until I’d changed the audio source in the black magic app, just in case anyone else was having issues. I found this video really helpful and straightforward, thank you 🎉
I just used my new DJI mic 2 and did the internal storage recording. I’ve synced it up in iMovie with the recorded video. It’s good for a few minutes then the audio is ahead of the video and is out of synced three separate recordings and videos and each one has the same problem. Can’t find videos about it. Is it a frame rate setting that needs changed or an issue with the mic? Would appreciate the help
Good one :) I’ve made two videos about this in the past, one the day after it came out since I bought it same day only to discover that DJI «hid» the info about bluetooth to iphone-limitations «pretty deep» on their spec page. The one thing you didn’t mention here though is the horrendous quality of the bluetooth audio recording. It uses a lower bandwidth/quality bluetooth audio codec/standard, so audio recorded this way with BT is lower quality compared to using the receiver. Now combine that with the disabled backup internal audio recording feature (which could have provided an alternative by syncing up internal recording later in post) the bluetooth «feature» is a very last resort for me :/
Thanks for the suggestion - it's always hard to know how much detail to put in videos - you could of course just use internal recording and then sync to the iPhones scratch audio in post :) :)
@@JasonRobertsVideo Yeah, it’s always a struggle balancing what to include, you covered lots of the same findings I’ve found as well :) Using the internal recording to sync with native audio from phone is something I’ve done a couple of times and it works well as a backup solution as long as the phone isn’t too far away :) it’s just a pity dji didn’t use better hardware for better bluetooth audio, then it would have been the killer feature I originally hoped it would be needing only the mic and phone for quick videos :)
The bluetooth to pocket3 that comes with the creator combo sounds fine to my ears, albeit I am no sound guy. One thing I noticed which was really bad was that one mic 2 connected to pocket3 (which is default in creator combo) will only record one audio channel. So you have to dupe the left-right audio track in post. Took me a day to figure out how to do it in resolve and luma. Annoying. Now I just use two mic 2's (I bought another) and get both left and right audio track and dont fix anything in post. I could, but I just dont usually bother. On another note, figured out some fairlight resolve stuff recently (i have studio) and some amazing audio post processing there that's pretty easy even for me. The iphone bluetooth connection sounds really bad. I have an iphone 11 i kick around for recordings as well, I probably will just get a wired rode mic for that and not even bother using the mic2's. Will the DJI MIC 2 physically be able to connect to an iPhone that it's in a protective case? I'm having issues getting it to work and it looks like only solution is to remove iPhone from its case. Correct?
