This is so much better of a video than the standard DJI influencer guys who just run through the specs and don’t even explain things. Nice job on the video. I’m trying to decide if I want just a transmitter or spring for the transmitter with receiver combination. I probably will use it primarily with the pocket 3 but maybe the phone and/or Sony camera occasionally.
Thankyou! For starters I love that you get the option to just buy the transmitters individually because they are super useful by themselves half the time that’s how I’ve used them. With that said, the charging case alone is super handy so I’d prob lean toward the kit if you plan on ever wanting to use it with a cam it’s still super nice to have the receiver
I am only halfway through this video and it's already one of my favorite reviews of action cam / lav mic products ever. This concise but deep level of detail, with no rambling, really makes this video stand out and is more informative than the past five or six that I've watched. Thank you!
Good video at a good pace and the information delivered with clarity 👍 I was relieved and delighted that there was nothing manic about this informative video. No hundred miles an hour wacky delivery or cutting away to irritating memes. Also, not having any pointless underlying music running throughout was a huge relief. The video was comprehensive, delivered in a clear engaging way that leaves a viewer informed and able to use the DJI mic kit with confidence. Definitely a classy review. Top work! 👍
Hi Ben! I appreciate all your videos on the DJI Mic 2! Great job.. I recently bought this DJI Mic 2 system. I am having the hardest time finding the correct settings to use. When i insert my video clips using the wireless mic.. it sounds like crap! I am using filmora 13 and even if i max the sound clip in the filmora progam..it is not loud enought. Any suggestions. i have both receiver and transmitter set to +9 and the low cut off and I am only using one mic and it is set to Mono. Can you plese give me the settings you used for this video. Your sound is crisp and amazing! Any help appreciated!! Rico
I just ordered this mic it should be here by Wednesday sometime. I've just received my Osmo action 5 camera a few weeks ago then a friend told me about this mic, so here I'm being blown away on your video.. the questions I was going to ask a question or 2 or 3 and you took care of that in the first few minutes. Big thank you for making it understandable.

Wanted to echo the sentiment that this was an absolutely brilliant review of the DJI. I know a lot of people go back and forth about what is better - DJI vs Rode, but I ended up grabbing this DJI Mic 2 and it’s an absolute game changer from the $10 PopVoice Lav mic I was using so thank you for breaking down all of the features! Hugely helpful.
Thanks for the encouraging comment! Both the rode and DJI are great, I personally prefer the DJI for me because I find it overall faster and easier to use because of the interface, and that it connects with my osmo, but the rode is fantastic as well in its own right and has some good pro features that others may find very suited for them
Thanks for this video Ben., no hype ad plenty of useful information, presented extremely well. One question: you mention being able to swap out a transmitter if you have, say a third unit. Presumably you cannot connect the receiver to more than two transmitters at any one time?
Thanks for video! I've seen some videous with major issues of this set. For example the sound from both mics is very different (Wayne RECs video). I hope you'll make a review video with some test as well
@@benjohnsoncreative Thank you for your answer and solid work with reviews. Especially with gear that is very professional, but still afordable. Wayne’s video is great, but I have to disagree with the «very different» statement ;) They where different, but not *very*, as in fixable with some EQ, and probably not very noticeable if the mics where put on two different people with different voice characteristics :) I made a video myself about another issue, affecting people who where hoping to use it with smartphones - in bluetooth mode backuo recordings are disabled for some odd reason, and for those hoping to just buy a transmitter/mic and use it with a smartphone it turns out you can’t switch on 32 bit float if you just have the mic and want to record just on the mic, not connected to a smartphone - dji have a little explaining to do the coming days - take a look at the video for more details :)
@@AndreSjoberg I agree that with two different people you probably would never even notice slightly different microphone performance. I’m trying to decide if I just want to buy a transmitter or the transmitter with receiver combination. I will probably use it primarily with the pocket 3 but may occasionally use it with my phone and Sony camera.
@@Reviews4fun1 Currently the only way to turn on 32 bit float (off by default), and turn off the low cut filter (on by default) is through the receiver, so having just the mic/transmitter doesn’t give you access to all the features (this *might* change with firmware updates, depending on if the transmitter is dependent on some weird mojo in the receiver, even though the recording is stored on the transmitter). Depending on your recording scenarios (talking head at a desk vs running around) having access to the receiver at least at the desk scenario, might be a plus - and since the mic doesn’t work with iphone native video (if you use that) and it doesn’t give you gain setting in blackmagic camera app, the receiver is the only way to adjust gain on the mic as well. So my advice would be to get the tx/rx combo, especially since they don’t sell the rx-unit separately, if *any of the scenarios I described earlier applies to your usecase - I’m doing a usecase-video this week on my channel of the different scenarios and what limitations arise from each scenario if you’re interested in anything like that, with audio tests of different modes/features and a couple of «hidden quality of life features» I’ve found useful :)
Thank you for this video. I was trying to find how to use the two transmitter at the same time and which configuration to use so the audio from one mic doesn’t get picked up by the other mic

Great video thank you. I keep getting a low bit rate on my recordings and I'm not sure why (I'm just using audio by the way) - do you have a video on this?
Awesome video! I have a question when plugging receiver to iPhone. Would you recommend when having two people using both transmitters for an interview record directly from the transmitter or can I just use my voice memos app?
Great post , well done ! So the mic2 can trigger a capture remotely by pressing the link button. But how does it differentiate photo trigerring from video trigerring ?
Great video, can you recommend any solutions for an interview with both mics. The mics are picking up both speakers the primary one holding the mic and the other albeit at a softer level. This seems difficult to edit as I'll have to reduce volume for each track where the echo is occurring. Example: I'm talking to you on mic 1 and you have mic 2 when I talk it is being record on my mic loudly and your mic softly then visa verse creating a weird echo effect when I get both tracks into the DAW.
what a amazing video thank you so much! about to vlog in NYC and i have a friend with me so if i wouldn't have watched your video i would have had not turned on stereo!
Good video. Question. Whilst linked in normal mode, if you decrease the gain of one transmitter then go into bluetooth mode and link with a camera, does the gain on that transmitter stay reduced ?
Great video. Just one point about the phone adaptors. When you try to connect the receiver to a phone, in my case an iPhone 12, they dont fit properly to the connection on the phone when the phone has a protective case on it! Most people use a protective case in my experience, so this is a bit of a design fault as the adapter should have a longer stem to accommodate the extra thickness of the case?
Great video! Very useful. Learned a lot from it. Still have to use my Mic 2. I have a question. I thought you said you were using the standalone transmitter from the osmo pocket without it being linked to the receiver. Is it still possible to record in 32 bit float? I thought you need the transmitter to be linked with the receiver for this purpose. I have one transmitter and a receiver.
Im confused should I buy just the transmitter or the receiver and transmitter or the both mics and receiver. It’s really hard to decide. Though I have a DJI osmo action 4 camera.
First and foremost I absolutely love this video. I do not for the life of me understand why my audio just doesn't sound good . I've turned the high pass off I've turned off everything that would mess with the audio put on 32-bit float. Apart from that the only thing I'm really really really really really confused on is the safety audio. Where is that file actually at? At first I thought the safety file would automatically record on my microphone kind of like it does with the DJI pocket 3 but after doing some research that option is not available with this receiver! That is crazy because it is the exact same microphone in the pocket 3 is nothing more than a built-in receiver that allows that option. But I cannot find my safety track. Can you please please please please please tell me where the safety track can be found. Thank you again and I subbed by the way
The safety track is recorded in the file. In the same way stereo splits the transmitters left and right, the safety track options splits the recorded file left and right. One side is normal, the other side is the safety track at a lesser db. In your editing software, you would change the audio from stereo to dual mono. Then you can isolate the original and the safety. (I know it’s a little confusing to articulate over this comment, but hopefully that makes sense.)
Would you recommend STEREO for using just 1 transmitter for motovlogging? I want 1TX inside my helmet, and then I will have an audio recorder (Zoom H1n) in my backpack for the engine sound. Thanks.
For one transmitter you could just do mono to keep it simple, or you could do mono with safety setting, which will split the track left and right, one normal volume and one -6db to help avoid super loud clipping moments

If you use mono, do you need to link both transmitters to your iPhone’s Bluetooth, or do you still need to link both transmitters?
When you plug in the iPhone adapter on the receiver, does it help you monitor audio levels from your phone? Not sure if I worded that well

I thought you said you were using the standalone transmitter from the osmo pocket without it being linked to the receiver. Is it still possible to record in 32 bit float? I thought you need the transmitter to be linked with the receiver for this purpose. I have one transmitter and a receiver.
It’s actually the opposite, 32bit float is only on the internal backup recording of the transmitter
Thanks! I would like to use the transmitter a lot standalone.@@benjohnsoncreative
Im confused should I buy just the transmitter or the receiver and transmitter or the both mics and receiver. It’s really hard to decide. Though I have a DJI osmo action 4 camera.
Gain settings on GoPro Hero 12 Black on Motorcycle Vlogging? I want one microphone to record engine roar and the other microphone to record my voice.
@@benjohnsoncreative ok thanks!
