After everything I've heard about this game's difficulty over the years, I would just turn on cheats from the start and have myself a power fantasy

Overall: I liked this video, though I've got to say that there are a few things that I like to point out:
5:59 - What you are referring to there is called a "Dead Zone" for the sticks. The game itself actually has an option for that, albeit only accessible through the main menu options screen. You can decrease the Dead Zone which in turn, makes the analog sticks much more sensitive to the movement. You need to experiment a bit before you find the sweet spot for yourself, but in general, you can tweak it without issues and once its properly configured, aiming can be alot more smooth, but still a bit clunky which you can get used to fairly quickly imo.
7:17 - If you pay close attention, then you can hear the alien breath before it lunges at you from that corner. This audio cue is very helpful in knowing if an alien is waiting somewhere to ambush you. Unfortunately the game itself fails to keep this rule constant and tends to completly break it by hiding / spawning aliens around those corners without any form of audio cues. Still, the first few levels should at least prevent some unnecessary damage taken and therefore save you some wasted medkits and prevent some of the deaths.
7:26 - This is one of the most satisfying ways of killing a xenomorph. It works best with the shotgun for whatever reason but, if you manage to hit it with the shotgun in a certain time frame during it's lunge attack, you can kill it with 1 single shot. Combining that with the audio cue of them breathing and you can turn around the table on them this way.
11:26 - "This time, I'm trying to keep my distance" *Proceeds to go towards the facehugger until you get too close to it and then tries to backpaddle when it's to late* This was actually funny.
12:06 - There are actually 2 ways of dealing with the turrets. The first way is to use the console that is blocked by 2 chairs before the turret room. That would deactivate the turrets but if you destroy the first chair, a facehugger will come out the vent but in that same vent, you can find supplies that can help you out if you dare to enter it. The second way is to simply shoot the turret from a distance with your pistol. I'd even argue that it's the safest way since you can shoot the turret without it aggroing on you as long as you keep that distance.
13:35 - This is something that happens in the first level already. As soon as you pick up the last keycard after freeing the NPC from that cell, 1 xenomorph spawns relatively far away, giving you enough time to react to it. After that, it's a general rule since there are more then enough instances, where the same thing happens in the 2nd level as well. By the point mentioned on the timestamp here, you should already have learned by now that it's a common thing to happen. I'm not sure if you knew that the R3 button let's you spin 180° very quickly.
15:00 - you can actually shoot those eggs from a safe distance, without needing to go inside that fire maze, since the obstruction is just low enough for you to shoot the eggs safely from a distance and even have the fire work in your favor by making the facehugger run into the flames.
Now other than that. I have to say that, as soon as you arrive at level 5, the games difficulty spike is way too high for all the wrong reasons.
For instance: The biggest problem of level 5, aside from cheap xenomorph placements and a lack of an audio cue of those exact same xenomorphs, are the marine soldiers you fight in that level. Having bulletsponge enemies with hitscan weapons and barely any healing items makes this a real chore and a roll of a dice, whether you're lucky with the ai just not shooting you to death and outtank you. Not even headshots seem to be very effective against them, which is very odd compared to the normal security guards you fight in level 1 and 3, which go down with a single headshot. It also drags on for way too long, so I can understand why one might break during this level.
Level 6 has the same issues. while there is usually not an issue when it comes to healthpacks if you manage to find and not waste them in the previous levels, this level is easily destroyed by the mindnumbingly dumb mini boss fight against the general. Having a Bulletsponge (Human!) enemy with a 1 hit kill rocket launcher (which you don't even get to pick up after defeating him) and a pulse rifle that can drain your health in mere seconds if you dont have your meds equipped and ready for use is just way too many gamedesign sins in one package. At least, I can somewhat understand why the marines on level 5 take quite some punishment because of their armor and helmet. But the general has just plain normal attire just like the guys you 1 hit kill with a headshot in the first level. Soaking up multiple clips of pulse rifle ammo is just ridiculous. I don't even mind the hazmat marines you fight at the beginning and the end of the fight, the boss himself is by far the biggest problem in that level.
Level 7 is also destroyed by the simple fact that you have to use a weapon that can 1 hit kill you if you happen to be in it's blast radius during the underwater sections. There aren't many aliens you fight underwater luckily, but it's still a terrible design choice which could have simply be fixed by either reducing the blast radius, which is way too big, or simply reduce the damage you take from it to the point where it doesn't 1 hit kill you even at full health if you happen to have your toe inside the blast radius. The only saving grace it has is the fact that it's fairly short compared to some other levels and you can pretty much waste all of your resources by the end of the level with a good conscience since you will lose all of it as soon as you finish the level.
Level 8 is by far the WORST level in the whole game. It has almost all the issues from level 5 (minus the armored marines thank god) but cranked up to 11 with cheap enemy spawns and the lack of healing items to compensate for that, overstays it's welcome for way too long thanks to the last stretch of the level which screams padding with the same long hallway repeating itself at least 3 times and the obvious: You need to go to A, but before you can go to A you need to collect B, but before you can collect B you need to get to C to turn of the steam, that's blocking your path to get to B, and then using B to open up A.
Level 9 is managable. Of course it has some very cheap enemy spawns (The cluster of around 5 Facehuggers waiting right infront of a door while also having an electric current right behind you to prevent you from going back and avoid those said facehuggers) it would've made the level a bit better if there was at least 1 more save point in between the ones that are already there.
Level 10 is surprisingly the easiest level and a true relieve once you arrive here, since it's basically GG as soon as you arrive at this level.
In conclusion: Entertaining to watch eventhough the part, where you seemingly have an "outburst of rage" ( 20:33 ) feels a bit forced and not genuine but still: Great video!

First of all: That is the longest comment I've ever gotten. Thanks for taking the time to give such a great feedback! Let me respond to some points:
-"Dead Zone": I saw it in the options menu, but didn't really try too many settings. Maybe I should have done that.
-13:35 - Yeah in theory you're right. Even when I knew they were coming I died quite a few times here. But if this video established one thing it's that I'm not great at the game at all.
-"Outburst of rage": Without looking I already knew which part you meant. What can I say...I'm not a good actor :D
Overall I'm impressed with your knowledge and understanding of the game. I just got too frustrated in Level 5. I spent hours upon hours on that level without making any sort of progress and finally decided, that it's not worth my time anymore. For that reason this is the only video from this season that I have some regrets about. I prefer to keep things positive but that wasn't possible for me here. I'm still glad you found some enjoyment with this video.
Thanks again for watching and giving feedback!

@@GFrom The difficulty that you started the game on is saved with the progress. So if you started a new game on Normal, and saved the game, then you change the difficulty to Easy, then load the saved game the difficulty will be on Normal. You need to start a new game in Easy difficulty to play through the game in Easy difficulty. And yes, Easy difficulty makes it easier.

I got pretty far in this game on normal (I originally played on hard...NOPE!) made it past the water levels but I had to give up when I was left with just the pistol and two grenade rounds with a number of aliens to kill. By my estimates I could have made it past the level with an exceptionally good run but I estimated my odds of the run were about 1 in 50 with each run taking about 10 minutes... I just didn't have it in me. Other than that it was a good game.

I had the most impossible time beating this game. After I killed the queen (competely with pistol ammo to save my stronger weapon's ammo) I kept hitting an area where I kept getting facehugged out of nowhere, it was impossible to avoid, and I had no autodoc unit, I tried and tried and tried, until I eventually just moved on to other games.

I've always wanted to sink my teeth into this game because it shares similarities with Dead Space, especially from the first game, I have to say the same for the movie, which might be a complete inspiration for the atmosphere of the USG Ishimura from Dead Space, the copperish metal hallways, the advanced/retro technology from the Auriga hallways and the fact that the enemies appear every time you flick a switch, although I give this credit to Doom where the enemies appear when you flick a switch. I will admit this game and Alien Trilogy need a proper port to next-gen consoles and PC, and I guess Nightdive studios should get that job done or even Aspyr media can be a cool alternate studio for a remaster of the two games.

Apart from the lower resolution, this could easily be an early PS2 title. Stunning visuals for a PS1 game - even at a very acceptable performance. There were PS1 games with worse visuals and worse frame rates at the same time.
