I'm glad you clarified it was cold renegade in your region because in America it was just Jak 2 and this is the first time I've ever heard it referred to as Jak to renegade
Nice review and did you know that you can use the hoover board in that mission with the guards on the bridge to get to the end without having to shoot them.
I was looking forward to that Video. Jak2 was one of my favourite games back in the day because it introduced me into the gta like open world. It was nice to hear your thoughts about this game, can’t wait for your video on jak3!

Studios and people change in 20 years. At some point ND did plan to make a Jak 4/reboot but realized it didn't feel like Jak so they made The Last of Us instead! @@robertwallen1582
This doesn’t so much look like an Empire Strikes Back situation, more as though Hiyao Miyazaki did a kids film and the sequel was done by Michael Mann! Still, series looks cool. It came out just after my time. You know, the “leave kids things behind” phase we go thru in our late teens/early twenties. Now, I’ll take some whimsy wherever I can find it
I remember playing through this with my then friend as we were hanging out from day until dawn and just played this fantastic game together. So much fun and rage was being generated, but just wish I could go back. Also on the side note: Ratchet & Clank Deadlocked/ Gladiator was such a hype co op game!
I replayed this just a few years ago and came to two conclusions: 1: Jak 2 holds up way better than the GTA games it was cribbing from! 2: It's the only game where Daxter is actually funny!
Jak 2 came out when i was 12, the age in which life was changing drastically for me both physically and mentally. In a way, this game grew up alongside me into adulthood where everything is edgier and angsty and not as colourful and innocent as childhood was…. Is jak 2 an allegory for growing up into adulthood?
It's so odd to see for years that so many people struggled on alot of these missions. Few of them did get me but not for too long, the ones I lost to the most were some of the more time strict missions. Maybe I was just more sharper or had more patience.
I loved the first game, hated the second and the third came out too late into the PS2's life.... Everyone I knew had moved onto PC in 2004 because of games like Half-Life 2 and World of Warcraft, which everyone in school was playing. That gen was weird because like the PS2 launched in 2000 and by 2003 it was so dated and behind they really needed a PS3 by 2004.
It absolutely is that hard and I will not entertain any claims to the contrary, hands down the most frustrating and painful game I ever completed, such a miserable experience in fact that I almost gave up completionism as a result. It's not just hard either it's hard for all the wrong reasons. People let the post game clear and or completion clarity distort how painful the process of getting there actually is, I know because that almost happened to me but I still remember the excrutiating pain it took to get there unlike most.
It’s not that hard, it just needs more checkpoints and maybe a light damage rebalance for some of the toughest enemies. As a kid it was THAT game you had to be good to beat it
After finishing this review I still think this game is bad and no wonder why I hate it.... Still I'd rather Naughty Dog make Jak 4 than another boring Uncharted or Last of Us game.

It does get hard i hated the Near endgame sewer escort mission swarms of metal heads come after you
That's one of the harder missions for sure.

The random checkpoints can be rage inducing

Patience is extremely important.
This game took me 26 hours and I just played it for the first time this year.
I recorded almost 17 hours of gameplay footage for this video (including side-quests).

Regarding my first playthrough in '06 I completely agree! My last two playthroughs were much smoother though. The checkpoint system remains awful.
