That was incredible, m8! Well all 5 videos were, because I knew you were uploading this today I REwatched all your Tomb Raider reviews including the older ones. Well done finishing the anthology! That must of been tough - get all the footage, make the script, voice, you in frame, edit must of taken a long ass time. These were great, I remember you saying you didn't like making long videos years ago, so happy you changed that! I and many others were looking forward to this, even watched it as soon as it was uploaded!!! Have the best week, bro. Absolutely love these reviews with your personal nostalgia added. YOU DID IT!!!! ALL 5 OF THE CLASSICS!!!
I think your conclusion sums it up perfectly. When I was a kid, our family would sit together and watch my dad play. I even used to get him to play the underwater parts because I was too afraid of drowning. The series will always bring back those memories and I’ll always be grateful
Greetings from Finland! I also remember that we used to play the classic TR games with the whole family (my dad playing and me, my sister and mom watching and cheering). Good memories! We got PS1 and TR3 as for the Christmas 1998 I think and we played especially TR3 and TR2 and some of the Last Revelation as well. Other games we used to play were Oddworld Abe's Oddyssee and Abe's Exoddus. Thanks GFrom for the series!
I discovered this channel not so long ago while looking for things about TR3. At that time, TR1, TR2, and I think TR1 Unfinished Business were already here, and it made my days I love the way you made all videos, your humor (I laughed a lot when you said "ungrateful prick" to a guy in Nevada Desert), and I think the videos are the best. Thanks GFrom for reminding me a huge part of my childhood in the 2000's while playing TR2 and remembering how hard was getting the others to work in my old computer back in the day. Currently playing the Remastered on Switch, just beat Palace Midas yesterday and I always remember you while playing. Nice to know that there are others who love these games a lot 🎉
This is the first Tomb Raider game I ever played and i remember I LOVED it back then even though i got soft locked several times in the last levels ! Thank you for this video and the trip down memory lane ♥️
23:28 Their timeline is all over the place! Lara has the backpack she will find in the future for some reason (I mean it's exact same model of her AFTER finding it), and Pierre with Larson keep dying multiple times over. NOTHING MAKES SENSE! XD
@@Kazeira maybe it doesn't work fine without backpack as a few animations need it like the key using? Now I wonder if someone made a mod that replaces the model in those three levels with the non-backpack one, it should be doable.
Fantastic video ! 49:08 with the dry delivery made me laugh way too much haha. Also as a kid i had no clue why they renamed the "stats" to some weird "Timex TMX", now i know.
What the hell, seing this now I cannot imagine how I beat this game back then at 14 years old! This is beyond tricky - still it remains the only classic TR i‘ve finished to this day, maybe because it was shorter. All of the rest I only played until the very final levels (zero frustration tolerance be thanked). Now playing the remastered trilogy to finally catch up and challenge myself - 20 years later 😅 Anyways, great video! Will also check out your other content :)
I’m so glad you finished the Ps1 Titles. I’ve been watching ever since your first TR 1 review and have watched and loved all of them. Can’t wait to see you review AOD. I sing the theme song everytime! I even love your other reviews like Spyro trilogy.
While I found your channel for TR content, I’ve been watching your older videos and love your style for all the topics you cover. Now that you’ve done the entire ps1 era, keep up the great work on whatever subject you tackle next!
Also, love that we experienced playing these with our fathers, makes it much more special and something I'm sure we'll hold dear with the rest of our days.
I played original games with both parents, one of us was better at puzzles, another at timed runs, and I was doing complex jumps, while figuring out what the next objective was pretty tough when later games got no dubbing. And no subtitles unlike MGS. HOW DO YOU GET NITROUS OXIDE AND CONNECT IT TO THE CARBURATOR? But this game had the mermaid level... which is somehow even worse than Cairo.
For me it was watching my older brother play. I felt included it was like I wasn't just the annoying little brother I was the wing man even though he's largely stopped playing I still value those little moments and wouldn't trade them for the world
1:01:14 I think this is because Core Design was really tired of Lara to such a degree at this point, they stopped trying with her character. Because remember, they did a complete shift with her in Last Revelations because they hated her at this point. This is apparent with the more documentaries I watch about Core Design. They were burnt out, insane crunch, the other teams at Core were hating the Success of TR because it meant they effectively could never live up to the expectations needed (And don't quote me on this next bit) but this potentially meant any other Core Design game that wasn't TR, had even less funding to work with, and was treated as C tier games at best. The Tomb Raider teams were essentially overworked and just wanted her to die so they can make literally everything or anything else. So making her unlikeable was probably a way to do that. That said, good video. Now how about some more Spyro? = y
The level editor Egypt bit was actually my first tomb raider level! Loved the vid GFrom! I found your channel a year ago and it's inspired me to go back and actually finish these childhood favourites of mine. I've finished Chronicles, 2 and made it to Area 51 in 3. Now that the remakes have come out I'm gonna have to restart 3 and have no excuse to skip 1 😂
The worst part of Tomb Raider games was always the part where you lose your weapons. Each of original 5 games except The Last Revelation (the objectively best one) pulled that crap... what's more offensive, is that they made Lara lose her weapons THREE TIMES in Chronicles, including two before you get to do what most of our nation contributes to IRL, goodening russians. Speaking of that, donate to Come Back Alive so we get more drones up theirs. P.S. FOUR times in Chronicles. I forgot the metal detector part in the middle of last chapter. So you lose weapons after each chapter AND in the middle of two of them, and as final insult to injury, one of the chapters doesn't have weapons at all... So only ONE part of the game has your weapons to the end, the first one. None of that would have been a problem if we had proper melee/sneak attack moves instead of select scripted traps and KOs in cutscenes.
loved it! Btw, in The Colosseum, u made me laugh so hard 'cos I've always envisioned the exact same cookies when obtaining the gemstone 🤣delicious nostalgia.
Cool review, schön zu sehen, dass auch deutsche Creator hier wirklich unfassbare Reviews machen können but now back to english :D My dad was never into gaming, I only managed to play with him once Gran Turismo 3 and he was so frustrated with the controls and everything but I do also share similar memories about Tomb Raider. My uncle owned a PSone in these days (I only had a Super Nintendo) and he visited us every week and brought his PSone with him. He was also a huge fan of Tomb Raider and therefore we always played together the new games and I loved it. I loved the games so much that I also wanted to own them by myself and had them on my Christmas wish list year by year but for the PC. Was my most beloved game series in these days even tough the games were hard as hell as a child :D My love to TR is still going on till today and I'm always super excited when a new game is being announced.
The fifth part of Tomb raider was my first game in the series. When I was a child, I was very scared to go through the chapter with little Lara Croft, where there was a horseman, a priest and especially a witch in the water. Although the game did not receive such high marks, it will always remain in my heart! Thanks for the nostalgia! 💖 P.S. If there are mistakes, I apologize. I'm from Russia and I don't speak English well.
Thank you! I remember beating Chronicles shortly after it came out and it was so frustrating at times. The game is trying to re-invent some of the old formula, but quite often fails. I disliked the stealthy parts, fixed camera angles, and weird interactions like hitting the submarine chef with the crowbar (took days to manage that, I think you had to stand at a certain place?). And those bugs at the end, oof. It remains the only Tomb Raider I have not revisited.
Well, what can I say. Pure gold as always. You rock and this has been awesome. Thank you for the journey. Will not get enough repeat views on the series videos on your channel :D
I have been so waiting for this review! This was an incredible watch! Your TR reviews are so fun to come back to for background entertainment while I'm gaming! I'm about to go on a full rant here but this game is kinda special for me, for better or worse. This is one of the 3 TR games I would come back to as a kid when it came to replaying the core TR games. 1 had issues working on the system we had (No clue why to this day) and I wasn't too into 4. As a kid I just loved the worlds Chronicles created and today I appreciate the direction they took the level design and atmosphere in compared to the 4th game. That game, to me, felt like 1 gigantic level that all blends into each other and doesn't really get interesting till near the end. With chronicles I just loved the atmosphere of the levels like the futuristic feeling of the iris building along with its awesome soundtrack and the submarine thats slowly filling with water. Sadly it does feel like they rushed the last levels out cus of the game breaking bugs and even that weird one in the sub where you hit the cook with the crowbar. Did he see you? Game is stuck forever. Dont be like young Alma and save thinking im missing something! I also had a bug where in the iris building where you have to hit the elevator again to get away from enemys. I would hit it, the cutscene of the elevator breaking would start and the game would just crash. I had that issue with the game for god knows how long. Anyways! Thank again for the review! I know you said you are not in the market to review Angel of Darkness right now but I really do hope you do soon cus fun fact: A good chunk of levels have the exit trigger near or right where you spawn. You can reach Louvre Galleries in just over 4 min knowing where they are in the first levels!
16:58 Funny fact that was a cut section in the level. In the original Draft the section of this level would've been bigger. Probably could've contain a boss with it to if that section wasn't scrapped. Not only the draft but someone on TH-cam debugged this level and proved it was suppose to be bigger.
Aww thats so cool, i used to watch my dad play at around 3 or 5 i cant remember, but it was so nostalgic and bonding. He used to put “i dont wanna close my eyes (aerosmith)” song on and we used to play for hours- and i remember once i was allowed ago of TR2 and i saved his game instead of loading it causing him to having to start over. Hahaha such nostalgia
The final comment you quoted is unhinged, lol Chronicles had a lot of story, and of course all Tomb Raiders are worse than Last Revelation, but 5 is pretty close especially in first half where you combine items and snipe people with a hand cannon. I just wish we get 4-5 remaster and then a new game in same style like they did with Crash 4, after actually good remake trilogy. P.S. Blocks DO suck, because pushing them is slow and boring
Great rundown of the story and your review of Chronicles, GFrom. You know, after all these years, I've always personally felt this way about "Chronicles" Lara and I agree with you 100% -- We all love badass and independent Lara from the first 4 games, but there's a difference between being that, and just being downright cruel, especially in the cutscene with Pierre. I guess this was the writer's way of humor or being sassy but it just comes off unlikable. I understand Pierre and Larson were there to retrieve first or steal the Stone from Lara, and perhaps by whatever means necessary, but Pierre did show her a bit of mercy by helping her up, and there are definitely other ways Lara could've 'stick it to' Pierre without being brutal and stooping to their level.
I've had a blast watching through this review series even though my own experience with the franchise classics were just the first two games and the fourth game. I found this little series here as I was getting hyped for the remaster and this was a ton of fun to watch It does look like the remaster is quite a hit, I wonder if they would actually include four and five at some point
GFrome, hello from Australia, been following your Tomb Raider content for the longest time. the first four Tomb Raider reviews have made their way to a regular background videos and I love them. thank you for all of the content I appreciate it a lot1 I SUPPOSE YOU ARE ENJOYING THESE JA!🎩
Just so you know, there were two Tomb Raider on Game Boy Color. The second one was The curse of the sword and I liked this one, actually. Again, I didn't play Chronicles and I’ve heard nothing but bad about this game. So it’s good to hear you say the positive about this game. But honestly, of the 4 stories, there was only one that made me want to play this game, it was the third with Lara teenager. This horrifying atmosphere makes me really want to try at least once this adventure. That said, this game would have been nice to be included in TR Trilogy Remastered, maybe even more than the 4 with its four scenarios that would have served as a bonus between each game. And that’s it, I finally finished looking at all your reviews of Tomb Raider! And it was really interesting to follow your level-by-level descriptions before you give your opinion on them. It’s a format that I like very much.
In 13th floor level you can skip the hammer part if you don't want the secret and directly shoot In the vent with the sniper mode, even if you fall down using sniper mode doesn't trigger combat, the guy just chills there looking in the opposite direction minding his own business as if a huge vent didn't collapse. Anyway this was the first tomb raider I finished back in 2001 as a kid. The only problem was that in the very last level one of the cyborgs glitched out jumping chasing me and I could never trap him back in the gas room, the worst part was me wasting all save slots.
It was clear that Core was burning out at this point but I still really enjoyed myself with this one, and I'd also say I enjoyed it more than the Last Revelation, even though I remembered so little about Chronicles. It's hard to beat the original trilogy but man, I'm somehow hoping that 4 and 5 also get the Remastered treatment. I'm having a blast with TR Remastered. Love your videos. Keep up the good work
If they get to a remaster, the #1 thing I want is to finally get to play the first chapter in a dress. In general, I just want more cosplay in Tomb Raider, it's ridiculous Dark Souls has more pretty princess dress up opportunities.
I really do like the concept of chronicles, little mini adventures/quests is a nice fit but yeah you can just tell core didn’t want to make this. Shame as I do like the concept and it sort of (IMO) explains a bit of what Lara does in her ‘down time’ between the bigger adventures and sort of serves for how she funds herself and lifestyle. Another great video Gfrom!
Watched walk-through of VCI headquarters and LOVE the music that plays in the level Wonder if there's a mod out there that gives you the duel pistols in that level lmao (With like a silencer on them)
IT'S HERE. Thanks for another great review, GFrom, great addition to breakfast and morning tea :D Aaah, the TRAOD gag, always gets me :D I tried to play it after the years and even with the countless patches I am not strong enough to get through Paris alone, not to mention the whole game. I noticed this review was a bit less spirited than the previous ones, but then again Chronicles is a game that really doesn't have much spirit itself, so I totally get the "been there, done that" vibe (which doesn't change my opinion on the review, mind, the ALARM guy now lives rent-free in my heart 💞). I like to boot it from time to time when I am in the mood for some non-commital tombraidering, but I agree with you - it's unoffensive at best, and doesn't hold a candle to the trilogy. If Aspyr ever gets to remastering this and TLR, I am seriously not gonna bother. I hate TLR with passion for its convoluted design and Chronicles is just not worthy getting, unless it goes through some serious redesign. Which is a shame because some of its parts look like Eidos' last hurrah - both Ireland and New York have some cool ideas that polished could take the series in a fun new direction, but alas, everybody just remembers the bugs and honestly, I don't blame them. Rome and the submarine arc are okay... but they are just so uninspired compared to the rest of the series, you'd say they are actually levels that were picked because they managed to pass the beta, not because they were actually good. Also I don't mind pushing blocks, I like the shelf-searching animation, so I don't mind it taking an eternity, but the FUCKING TIGHTROPE, JESUS FUCKING CHRIST. This is my cryptonite, I hate this mechanic with a passion of thousand suns and I would happily do a five-minute long pushing-block puzzle just not to spent a century swaying left and right every goddamn second. Even swinging rope doesn't trigger me that much, because you at least get to experience a thrill of a guessing game, whether you gonna die twice or ten thousand times in a row, while tightrope balancing is just a minute or two taken out your life that could be remedied with a better designed platforming sequence. I'll also say that I am not that keen on Jonell Elliot's Lara either. Yeah, she's a fine actress on her own, but given the shift in Lara's personality in these games and adding up that sugary-sweet tone of voice... I get major middle school vibes and it's just #notmyLara. Might be better with a different take on the character though, but alas. So... congrats on reviewing the whole era of your favourite series on the channel! Tomb Raider is one of those titles I love watching retrospectives of, and yours has that kind of fun editing and humour that totally speaks to me, so thank you again for this top shelf entertainment 🤟 I will also take a moment to say that I'd love to see the PS1 Hagrid's adventures review on your channel someday, wink wink, nudge nudge 😉
Thank you! I get it - this game just doesn't have the same magic as the trilogy so it was extra challenging to keep it "spirited". And yeah, PS1 Harry Potter might be a fun vid to do. We'll see!
Another great Tomb Raider vid GFrom! Although, personally, I would put Chronicles in last postion out of the first 5 Tomb Raider games and The Last Revelation would be higher in my personal list. Yes, Last Revelation level design can sometimes be a bit too dark and convoluted, but I liked that it was all set in Egyptian tombs and it has that Indiana Jones feeling of the first game. Tomb Raider II and III in some ways felt more James Bondish, although still enjoyable games. I guess my personal list to compare to yours would be: 1. TR 1 2. TR II and TR4 tied at second place 3. TR III 4. TR Chronicles I wonder will you now be reviewing any of the Tomb Raider fan levels that were created with the Tomb Raider Level Editor? There are only 3,000+ level sets that have been created, so that should not take too long to review each one!🤣 But, seriously if you do look at any of the TR Level sets I reccommend Sabatu's levels - that creator has made an interesting reimagining of the first Tomb Raider and Delca has made a fun Demake of Tomb Raider Underworld.
For me Chronicles is an example of missed opportunities and wasted potential. I think the idea behind the general story and each area is great and perfectly fine. Execution, however, is where it falls apart. The game is INSANELY buggy for a TR game (I think it's the only one with softlocks in it, or at least multiple), many things aren't easy to understand, and lots of visuals are ugly and underbaked. I don't really fault the devs since the game's development was notoriously terrible and their burnout is understandable. It's just a shame since, if they baked the game for longer, it'd probably have been REALLY good. Man, I can't wait for you to get to Angel of Darkness. The inevitable raging will be entertaining. On that note, while they're not really retro by any means I hope you cover the rest of the franchise. It'd be interesting to hear what you think of the massive changes the franchise went through. But yeah, good job with the restrospective series thus far my man. Always enjoy longform takes on ongoing or long series. Tomb Raider in particular, especially now. My Dad and I were HUGE fans of TR, and we played them together- though at this point it's mostly memories of the HOURS we spent being stuck on Last Revelation and Chronicles. He unfortunately passed away last month at 65 from Cancer, so videos like this are an easy reminder of the good ol' days. Keep it up, G.
There are multiple soft-locks in Tomb Raider 1, you can have a wrong water level in the Cistern and survive spikes fall, there's a secret door that closes automatically but you can jump as it does, locking Lara with no exit, there's a GUIDE how to avoid soft-locks on a torso boss, looking up TR4 and 3 also have a few, and 5, of course, has several easy ones in the final levels with limited ammo and no way to attack if you run out of it (though you can lock enemies into traps). I assume any part where there's limited ammo weapon with scope that you need to solve a puzzle is a risk, so TR5 will have it in first chapter too?
The revolver reminds me... that era of games had an allergy to rifles. Strong single shot weapons were ALWAYS handcannons... kinda ridiculous sniping with either crossbow or a revolver but never an actual sniper rifle! Even Half-Life is guilty of that. It also had an SMG but not an actual most-used weapon type, an AR. Resident Evil had same issue. Magnum fetish as well... TR2 is probably the only in series that broke the mold with an M16, which makes it best game not set in Egypt, but come on, who the hell snipes with something that has a short barrel? Silly that even Medal of Honor Underground, a WW2 game, had NO battle rifles to use. You went around with pistols and crossbows. Dx
Me and my dad were huge TR fans in the 90s (he played the games every evening and 8-year old me watched and sometimes gave advice), but our history with them starts from TR2. For us a good TR was when there was a balance of ancient tombs and modern environments, that's why we never liked TR4. So we found TR5 very unique, interesting, and not overstaying its welcome (again, unlike TR4). As for bugs... Sad reality is, back in the 90s in our country all discs were pirate copies, some games were literally unbeatable because huge chunks of data were missing, and Chronicles wasn't the worst we've seen.
Overall, I totally agree with your opinion about Chronicles, last but not least the fact that it is better than The Last Revelation, despite being short and flawed. In fact, I think that TLR is neverending and overly unclear... and that's the only classic TR that I never had the courage to replay, while I replayed Chronicles twice!
Bit of cool trivia the reason the cut scenes for young lara are so out of place is they were outsourced and created by a separate company The more you know lol
When precise platforming is involved, yes, fixed camera angles are a hindrance. In a series like Resident Evil though, they work really well. In the PS1 era anyway.
I love all your tomb radier vids especially tomb raider 2 I really hope you do the remastered version of 1 2 3 they even have the add on level no dam floppy disks lol keep the great work coming you da goat :)
Hey man, when I was ten, I couldn't get out of the starting castle in Faxanadu on NES. I couldn't figure out to ask a guy for a key and then use it in the gate, stuck on the first two screens of the game. I also couldn't use Taboo because every time it asked me SEX? I entered zero, because I had had sex zero times. Did not get that it meant M or F. It's cool.
So are you gonna review Chornic . . . oh right. I always got the impression this was a game nobody at Core wanted to make. And upon looking it up, that seems to be exactly the case. Doesn't seem to be a fan favourite either, though if it comes with a Remastered Vol 2, I'll play it.
at 43 minutes, you missed that there's a way to know which box has the correct item, there's a hidden trapdoor on the roof that leads to a room with xray window where you can see all the boxes
A shame about chronicles a prequel about Laras adventures before the main trilogy could've worked but it fell short. We didn't even get to see how she got her pistols
This is already a classic on the channel :) Today we had a fire alarm at work and I heard this guy in my mind :) Everyone was scared and I started laughing ha ha ha
Tomb Raider V: So Very Tired I feel sorry for Core Design having to churn out games but part of me misses yearly game sequels. Now we are lucky to get game sequels every four years!
I liked chronicles because it was the only one I could beat!!!! But also was heavily disappointed when I realized that 0 of the demo clips actually happened in the game
i played it on a "copy" of the game on the psx but not for long since i really didn't like it. Also the story of the first levels makes no sense :) i mean she killed pierre (you here the sound) and even kinda kills Larson and then these guys should show up in the first game then. You really see how they really didn't want to make this game. The part with "KOing the cook from behind" was also a kinda weird idea. In my head i was like "ok i sneak up behind in crouching position (tinking like TR3 were the guards could see you if you were not crouching behind cover) but NOPE you had to just walk... whcih is louder
This game was purely an obligation and not a labor of love. The only reason why I would support a remaster of this game is to get that level editor to a far wider audience.
Why would you be against a remaster otherwise? It makes no sense, if you don't like TR5, don't play it. As to team being burned out and finishing the games under crunch, that applies to absolutely EACH Tomb Raider game, including TR1.
7:21 You can also aim through the laser sight and press the shortcut to draw pistols. You'll be able to shoot with the accuracy but not waste revolver bullets
Man, I get subjectivity, but tr4 as your bottom rank? To me it was the best - I loved how lost you felt in those environments and honestly didn't mind the non-linear structure
I can see why people love it. With TR3 it's the opposite where I love it (except London) and many people can't stand it at all. It's great that we all like certain games in the series for different reasons.
"Chronicles" only exists because Eidos Interactive made Core Design bring Lara back to life after a serious attempt to kill her off at the end of "The Last Revelation". It's mainly why, critically speaking, "Chronicles" is the weakest entry in the mainline series on console and PC. I wouldn't even recommend this game to die-hard fans, even if the level structure is linear. The bottom line is that "The Last Revelation" was the last good original "Tomb Raider" game on console and PC. I consider that game a true send-off for the original series. "Chronicles" was actually mediocre at its core, and "The Angel of Darkness"...oh...just you wait and see.
Well, my fellow german...this Tomb Raider game was always summed up by me with: kinda goofy. But nothing they published was as bad as "Angel of darkness"- the absolute bummer.
I guess we all need to start the AOD comments now lol
Agreed.
Thanks for watching :) I'm working on Abe's Oddysee right now!
Thats sounds so sweet and fun
😂 love seeing my name twice at the beginning. An honour. Finally Chronicles is here! 💪🏻😎 You’re the man!
That f**king bird sound effect from the Ireland chapter has stayed with me to this day. Loved all these TR reviews 👌
I discovered this channel not so long ago while looking for things about TR3. At that time, TR1, TR2, and I think TR1 Unfinished Business were already here, and it made my days
I love the way you made all videos, your humor (I laughed a lot when you said "ungrateful prick" to a guy in Nevada Desert), and I think the videos are the best.
XD
Yeah she doesn't have her backpack in FMVs but she has it during gameplay. They probably didn't even realize they were using the wrong model.
@@Kazeira maybe it doesn't work fine without backpack as a few animations need it like the key using? Now I wonder if someone made a mod that replaces the model in those three levels with the non-backpack one, it should be doable.
@@KasumiRINA I don't know, they didn't really care in TR2 for Home Sweet Home
Fantastic video ! 49:08 with the dry delivery made me laugh way too much haha. Also as a kid i had no clue why they renamed the "stats" to some weird "Timex TMX", now i know.
What the hell, seing this now I cannot imagine how I beat this game back then at 14 years old! This is beyond tricky - still it remains the only classic TR i‘ve finished to this day, maybe because it was shorter. All of the rest I only played until the very final levels (zero frustration tolerance be thanked). Now playing the remastered trilogy to finally catch up and challenge myself - 20 years later 😅
Anyways, great video! Will also check out your other content :)
12:56 LMAOO! I used to think they looked like those cookies too when I was little (I still think that tbh)
I’m so glad you finished the Ps1 Titles. I’ve been watching ever since your first TR 1 review and have watched and loved all of them. Can’t wait to see you review AOD. I sing the theme song everytime! I even love your other reviews like Spyro trilogy.
I cackled when you somersaulted Lara out of the tunnel in RX Tech Mines and hit the ground dead, I've already done that several times in the game 😂
I love your Tomb Raider videos, I’m watching as I’m playing the remasters ❤
While I found your channel for TR content, I’ve been watching your older videos and love your style for all the topics you cover. Now that you’ve done the entire ps1 era, keep up the great work on whatever subject you tackle next!
Also, love that we experienced playing these with our fathers, makes it much more special and something I'm sure we'll hold dear with the rest of our days.
I couldn't agree more!

I think this is because Core Design was really tired of Lara to such a degree at this point, they stopped trying with her character.
Thank you! I'm not working on Spyro atm but I'd love to come back to it :)
Core/Eidos was locked in an exclusive deal with Sony at the same
The level editor Egypt bit was actually my first tomb raider level!
Cool review, schön zu sehen, dass auch deutsche Creator hier wirklich unfassbare Reviews machen können but now back to english :D
My dad was never into gaming, I only managed to play with him once Gran Turismo 3 and he was so frustrated with the controls and everything but I do also share similar memories about Tomb Raider. Was my most beloved game series in these days even tough the games were hard as hell as a child :D
My love to TR is still going on till today and I'm always super excited when a new game is being announced.
Then I better not tell you that I'm swedish 😅 But I live in Germany ✌
Thanks for watching!
P.S. If there are mistakes, I apologize. I'm from Russia and I don't speak English well.
GFrom review zu einem Tomb Raider Game zum Abschluss der Woche? Ein Traum!
Achja: Wann kommt endlich der Angel of Darkness review?!
OMG
Oh cool, I didn't know that!
I had so much fun with Chronicles! I love how Streets of Rome and Trajan's Markets were interconnected, and Ireland atmosphere was creepy as hell.
Haha I remember my brother doing the same thing in the first game 🙈 All that hard work... 😅
Hahaha good memories@@GFrom
I found this little series here as I was getting hyped for the remaster and this was a ton of fun to watch
It does look like the remaster is quite a hit, I wonder if they would actually include four and five at some point
I'm glad you like my stuff, JA 😁
Thanks for watching! I own Curse Of The Sword but haven't played it yet.
Over an hour?? Amazing. Time for a brew and to sit and enjoy this
Amazing video really worth the wait but kinda sad that we are done with the five games of my child hood that means so much to me!
Keep up the good work
Great commentary - thank you for the memories! x
Thank you for your work and videos! Always a joy to watch these :)
Viele Grüße aus Deutschland, nach Deutschland!
Watched walk-through of VCI headquarters and LOVE the music that plays in the level
Wonder if there's a mod out there that gives you the duel pistols in that level lmao (With like a silencer on them)
I guess my personal list to compare to yours would be:
1. TR 1
2. TR II and TR4 tied at second place
3. TR III
4. TR Chronicles
I wonder will you now be reviewing any of the Tomb Raider fan levels that were created with the Tomb Raider Level Editor? There are only 3,000+ level sets that have been created, so that should not take too long to review each one!🤣
But, seriously if you do look at any of the TR Level sets I reccommend Sabatu's levels - that creator has made an interesting reimagining of the first Tomb Raider and Delca has made a fun Demake of Tomb Raider Underworld.
Thank you! I think I'll stick to official releases though 😅
I'm so sorry for your loss...but the memories live on!
I’ll admit - I never killed the gargoyle heads. I just med packed up and inserted the stones while Larson shot at me 😂
Overall, I totally agree with your opinion about Chronicles, last but not least the fact that it is better than The Last Revelation, despite being short and flawed. In fact, I think that TLR is neverending and overly unclear... and that's the only classic TR that I never had the courage to replay, while I replayed Chronicles twice!
All of my favorite content creators are Tomb Raider fans. If I won the lottery, I would have a huge dinner party with all of you and nerd out. 🤷♂
Ich weiß gar nicht, was meine Kindheit mehr geprägt hat:
Tomb Raider oder Alarm bei der Feuerwehr....
Bei mir ähnlich...😂
Bit of cool trivia the reason the cut scenes for young lara are so out of place is they were outsourced and created by a separate company
The more you know lol
Love ur review bros they got me thru a tough time keep up the awesome videos bro
Thank you. I'm glad my videos helped. Hopefully you're doing better!
When precise platforming is involved, yes, fixed camera angles are a hindrance. In a series like Resident Evil though, they work really well. In the PS1 era anyway.
I got stuck in the sinking submarine level as a kid for 2 whole weeks.
HOW THE HELL WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW TO SHOOT THAT STUPID VENT?
I'd say that was a fair review. Not played it in years.
I was never keen on the Ireland levels much.
Was waiting for this review. Thank you! 🎉
Sad I missed to comment with the classic „vallah mach‘ Chronicles“. Love your content…!
I always thought Russia was after TR2. I recall her saying she had unpleasant memories with mafiaso before.
Before writing this review I thought so too!
I love all your tomb radier vids especially tomb raider 2 I really hope you do the remastered version of 1 2 3 they even have the add on level no dam floppy disks lol keep the great work coming you da goat :)
Thank you! I won't do a review of the remasters but I have an idea for a different type of video about them. Will take a while though.
Thanks GOD, a new episode :D THANK YOU!
It's cool.
Watching this at 4 am. I love youe tomb raider videos
Awesome video G From 👍💯🔥
So are you gonna review Chornic . . .
Yeah I know I forgot to mention that 🙈
Yeah, I also liked Chronicles more than Revelations over all. Nice video, I enjoyed it.
A shame about chronicles a prequel about Laras adventures before the main trilogy could've worked but it fell short. We didn't even get to see how she got her pistols
9:10 great taste I see
I knew there would be an Alarm !! somewhere, I've waited for it :) Ha ha ha
There's no way I'm not including it 😁
This is already a classic on the channel :) Today we had a fire alarm at work and I heard this guy in my mind :) Everyone was scared and I started laughing ha ha ha
Amazing 😂😂
When are you going to review Chronic.... oh...
Thank you! 😊
Tomb Raider V: So Very Tired
I feel sorry for Core Design having to churn out games but part of me misses yearly game sequels. Now we are lucky to get game sequels every four years!
6:10 nice transition
Nice t-shirt!
21:29 Is that from your favourite movie about the hard work of firemen?🤣
Hey I got that same bar sign!
Cool!
Angel of Darkness
Sorry did you expect an actual sentence? :)
I had this on PC and ended up getting a bug where Lara would turn invisible but couldn't interact with any switches.
I can´t wait for the review of Angel of Darkness
I liked chronicles because it was the only one I could beat!!!! But also was heavily disappointed when I realized that 0 of the demo clips actually happened in the game
Chop chop review man, AoD is waiting! ;P
0:26 Hey that's me!!
i played it on a "copy" of the game on the psx but not for long since i really didn't like it.
Lara has dual pistols in the cutscene and then they disappeared in gameplay. It's a mystery...
Playing some of the classic tombraider games.. it makes me wonder if the classic age well or not.
So, when are you playing AOD (the interactive DVD adventure version)?
I've never played that one 😅 Might give it a look someday
@@GFrom Hardly anyone has played it...and with good reason 😁
Great videos btw, really enjoy them!
7:21 You can also aim through the laser sight and press the shortcut to draw pistols. You'll be able to shoot with the accuracy but not waste revolver bullets
its known that chronicles wasnt enjoyable for the most
but this game has its own aesthetics.
Atmosphere in chronicles is special
Man, I get subjectivity, but tr4 as your bottom rank? To me it was the best - I loved how lost you felt in those environments and honestly didn't mind the non-linear structure
What can I say, I'd rather play any of the higher ranked games 🤷♂️
@@GFrom all power to you. Just loved the setting of tr4... plus I was always so proud of myself when I passed a section without a guide lol
I can see why people love it. With TR3 it's the opposite where I love it (except London) and many people can't stand it at all. It's great that we all like certain games in the series for different reasons.
9:20 omg that’s what I ALWAYS think
Technically adult Lara isn't an asshole the entire game, she wanted to help Yarofev and tried to warn Larson after all
DO A GODDAMN REVIEW OF CHRONICLES...
Of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay?
Oh damn, I reviewed the wrong game 😭
pretty sick that it's called Die Chronik in your language
I too like your review style
