EDIT Problem SOLVED! It works and I am very happy! Thank you very much Ann from VOLspeed! VOLspeed Ebike Tuning reached out to me and helped me with some fitment issues I had (incorrect connector used) on my part. I have just installed my VOLspeed V3 on my Raleigh IE Redux that runs a Bosch Performance Line Speed motor. I have it set to KMH for setup and get the 11.1kmh on screen but the 10.0 does not appear afterwards. I cannot get it to the 2nd stage where I set the Pedelec + setting and then speed limits. Any help would be great.
Hi, i have a Moustache Samedi Trail6. Do I need any special tools to install the Volspeed ? I read somewhere that I might have to take away my crank. Thanks a lot !
No, there is no countdown to wait for. However, it makes sense to leave the bike switched on from time to time with the tuning activated until it switches off by itself. The mileage in the engine is corrected then. Also before removing the tuning module, e.g. because of a workshop visit, you should do that.
just fitted this to my Trek 2021 Rail 9 Bosch motor. works great. When you turn bike off do you have to re activate the VOLspeed each time you start off again, as im sure when i switched off on controller it went back to 15mph restriction.. or does it only recal last de restricted mode if you leave it to shut down itself.?
Do you set yours to the full power or do you fond the first setting enough? I have a Rail 9 as well. What about battery life? Do you find your killing the battery quicker?
Great video. Does it work with a dual bosch battery setup? wouldnt be a problem of space inside the motor vault, since there´s already an extra cable? Thanks for your time
@@robertocalvo934 There is no general answer to that. The space available differs significantly between the individual bikes. So far, however, we have not had a case where there was not enough space.

Hi, I know this video was released a few years ago, but I have a question about the VOLspeed V4. I have a 2022 Bosch Performance Line CX motor that is non-smart. The speedometer reads 3 kms faster than actual road speed. While I want to remove the 32 km limit, (Canada) which is aggravated by it also reading incorrectly, can I adjust the wheel diameter with this device so that the speedometer is accurate? I complained to my dealer, they "adjusted" the wheel diameter, but it only made about 1/2 km difference in the speed reading.
Hi, few quick questions; (1) Do you have to deactivate before turning off (2) if no to 1, does it remember last selected tuning speed when next used? (3) Are you still confident that for gen 4 with 1.1.2.0 that no 504 error will be given if I set max to 35kph or less? (4) Once set, can I turn to mph without messing anything up? Oh and (5) are you working on a Volspeed V4? I want to buy this but not if you are about to release a new version. Many thanks.
(1) No (2) Yes, the set maximum speed is saved (3) Since this version was released in August last year, there is a lot of experience with it. So far, no 504 errors have been reported with the maximum speed set to 35 km/h or less. (4) Yes, after running the setup you can easily change back to mph. (5) No, we will not be releasing a new version of the chip any time soon.
Hi please could you tell me if this chip would go Into Lapierre overvolt 5.6 2022...I have the chance to get one but am I better of spending more on the V4??
I bought this item to fit to a Cube Reaction 2019 bike with a Bosche Performance Line CX motor running through a Viox controller. Unfortunately the bike comes on and then turns off three seconds later. This happens when I push the minus button or if I don't touch any buttons at all. Any technical help solving this problem would be grateful if not do you know of a UK agent for Volspeed who could help. Thx
The cause of the problem is probably the software version of the Kiox. Please update the display software. You can do this yourself and it is described here: www.bosch-ebike.com/en/help-center/how-do-i-update-my-kiox-e116
What about bike warranty with this? Can i remove this unit and bring for repair for example? or this tool killing my warranty?) Not sure if they will be able to notice in service center
Bosch unfortunately denies warranty services when using tuning modules. That is of course their right. However, the tuning is usually not detectable after removal.
I have used the volspeed v3 for about 300 km and it was great. Now there is a 504 error and the bike is in limp mode, (Bosch anti tuning software has kicked in) how do I fix it?
Sorry for that. Problem can be fixed by cycling 90 minutes in limp mode with switched off tuning. Alternatevely it can be reset with with the Bosch diagnostic tool from your dealer. Tuning should be set in workshop mode or removed before. I think you have the CX2020 with firmware 1.0.2.0 , right? There is a update to firmware 1.0.3.0 which should prevent the motor from erroneous tuning detection. We are still testing this firmware. Although we haven't had a problem with this firmware yet we do not recommend to upgrade now because there is no way back to the old version if there are any problems. Would be also nice if you could contact our support under info(at)volspeed.de.
The installation is exactly the same for V4. A setup procedure no longer needs to be performed via the display. This is all done automatically with the V4.
Hi VolSpeed, how is the testing going with version 1.1.5.0? I have a VolSpeed V3 and firmware 1.1.5.0, should I not use the VolSpeed V3 until proven? Thanks
This software was released 2 days ago. We are already testing it. It will take about a week until we have all displays tested with it. There are also new software versions for the Kiox and the Nyon 2. We will inform here about the progress: blog.volspeed.de/bosch-softwarestaende-162/
Our new VOLspeed V4 has now been available since October 2021. So far, there has not been a single customer who has reported a 504 error (tamper detection) to us. So it's pretty safe with the new module. Compared to the V3, however, you can also only raise the limit to 45km/h. This is an essential factor to prevent an error.
VOLspeed, can you comment on 504 errors with Bosch gen 4 motors please? Im reading lots of people are still getting them despite claims that this unit is not detectable, it seems that it is!
There have already been about 10 customers who have contacted us or one of our dealers about a 504 error on a CX 2020, Gen 4 with firmware 1.0.2.0. In the old CX, Gen 2 with the current firmware 1.8.4, which also contains anti-tuning functions, no cases have been reported to us so far. The moment of the occurrence of the error indicate that the tuning detection in firmware 1.0.2.0 may not work correctly. However, it would also be conceivable that the tuning was recognized a long time before the error occurred and that the error was only activated at a later time. However, firmware 1.0.3.0 for the CX2020 was released about a month ago, which is intended to solve problems in relation with tuning detection, especially incorrect occurrence. In various Internet forums you can also find entries from people who had an error 504 without tuning module on a CX2020. Several affected people have already contacted us who only wanted to install the tuning to prevent or get rid of error 504. Mind you, they had not installed any tuning yet! Some of our customers affected only had the error reset at the dealer, others also carried out an update to 1.0.3.0 at the same time. None of these customers has experienced the error a second time up to now. It should also be noted that we have not had error 504 case with firmware 1.0.3.0 so far. So far, no case has been reported to us for the Gen 2 and Gen 3 engines, although they also have anti tuning functions in the latest firmware and recognize certain modules with a high degree of probability and then generate error 504 after some time. It is very likely that error 504 with an installed VOLspeed V3 is mainly generated by an error in firmware 1.0.2.0. We cycled with the VOLspeed V3 just over 1000km in a CX2020 with firmware 1.0.2.0 without any errors. We always set the limit in the range of 32 - 40km/h. We regularly had the kilometers balanced by leaving the bike and tuning on after the ride. We are now testing the 1.0.3.0. Here we currently have 450km, also without problems. We currently do not allow the kilometers to balanced and have set a limit of 50km/h, which we do not reach with our bike with pedal assistance. We haven't had any problems here either. In summary, it can be said that the CX2020 with firmware 1.0.2.0 with built-in VOLspeed V3 currently has a certain, low, probability that an error 504 will occur. However, the error can also occur without a tuning module. We cannot say whether the frequency will increase due to the tuning. However, we currently recommend waiting for an update to software 1.0.3.0. It is not possible to have the old software 1.0.2.0 installed by the dealer again. There a certain residual risk that there will also be problems with 1.0.3.0. So as long as everything works correctly: Never touch a running system!
VOLspeed Ebike Tuning thanks. I have CX2020 and I only want to up the limit to 20mph max, thats enough for me, so Im good to buy a V3 if my motor has 1.0.3.0 installed? (Havent checked yet, its 1 day old!)

@ VOLspeed Can I set a maximum speed of 40km / h or 99km/hh on a bosch CX 25km/h without risking the error 504 on bikes equipped with stable antituning protection fw 1.8.4.0 and 1.0.3.0? Is it necessary to limit the speed below 35km/h? The compensation function for the km traveled is it continuous ?or if it is triggered at the end automatically in order to limit the total distance errors ?(must leave your bike on at the end to avoid 504 errors when riding more than 35km /h?). Screen show something during mileage compensation? Thank you
We never had any problems with fw 1.8.4.0 or 1.0.3.0. It should be no problem to set the limit to 99km/h. The compensation function is continous. It is suggested to leave the bike switched on sometimes and wait until the balancing is done. There is no screen showing the balancing. So just wait until bike switches itself off.
@@Darkfiberke , you have instaled on firmware 1.0.2.0 ? Because that's on my ebike to and tell me please if you have any errors until now, what it's your speed limit and what ride mode do you sugest to use ? At the moment we are still testing this software. We have already done some tests in the workshop and will continue the tests outdoors in the coming days. We expect to be able to answer whether the chip works in general at the end of March. However, we will not have any long-term experience yet. Previous software versions often caused problems only after many hundreds of kilometres. Since this software supposedly contains improved tamper detection, we strongly advise against an update.
Thanks guys appreciate the reply. I unfortunately already have the firmware as my bike was delivered new with it. Looking forward to hearing back from you when testing has been concluded.
Yes this works. But you should do the initial setup with display set to km/h. Afterwards you can change back to MPH. There is no time run down at the end.
Yes, it will also work with mph setting. For the initial setup the display should be set to kph, as the manual is for kph. Afterwards you can switch back to mph.
Yes it works for the gen 4. When installing a tuning you will always loose the warranty. It is not really clear if it is traceable. At the moment we have more than 1000 test kilometers and it was not detected by diagnostic tool afterwards (gen 4, DU firmware 1.0.2.0). At the moment we are testing the 1.0.3.0 firmware.
@@volspeedebiketuning4391 wie sieht es aktuell mit der 1.0.3.0 version aus, schon fehler 504 zustande gebracht? und wie viel km bereits mit 1.0.3.0 gefahren?
Isn't the performance line speed version the exakt same motor? Just with a different speed limit. Kinda stupid you lose warranty for doing something the motor is designed to handle anyway.
Hi guys any input greatfully received have a cube 625 pro with bosc 4th gen cx motor just fitted this and all good touch wood? What would you say is ideal speed to set too its 25kph in the uk ive set to 32 kph is that guna burn anything out do you think thanks in advance
In our experience, the limit for the Gen4 engine with software version 1.1.0.0 and 1.1.2.0 should not be set higher than 35 km/h (22mph) in order to reliably prevent an error 504. As the limit increases, so does the probability of an error 504. With the older software versions 1.0.2.0 and 1.0.3.0 the limit doesn't matter. 32 kph should never be a problem.
@@jimmyallen9927 Thank you for your quick answer mate. Did you remove your battery before installing the tuning chip? Just got mine today, im really exited!
The latest update with 85Nm (V 1.1.0.0) is available since 6.7.20. We are currently still testing this. In principle, the tuning will also work with this software. Unfortunately, we do not currently know with certainty whether Bosch has made any changes to the tamper detection, which could then lead to error 504 after some operating time. We now have 350km without any problems. There are still no complaints from customers. We will certainly test for a few more weeks until we have driven about 1000 km with it. As soon as this software version has been tested sufficiently, we will publish it here: blog.volspeed.de/bosch-softwarestaende-162/
It depends on how fast you are riding and the track. Mostly I have set the limit to 32km/h and the range was between 35km for offroad use and 80km on road with the 500Wh battery. With a limit set to 32km/h the motor is still limiting the power. When driving on road this leads to a much more sportive driving and less battery consumption. When additionally activating the dynamic mode there is a much smoother fade out of motor power in the speed region of the limit. This feels more natural, more like a bio bike.
@@volspeedebiketuning4391 It sounds like "Speed Mode" has to be enabled for each ride - but does "Dynamic Mode" ALSO need to be enabled each time the bike is ridden? I assume so - since it sounds like Speed Mode is required to use Dynamic Mode.
I just bought the v3 on my cube reaction pro, but only 1 out of 20 tries I can activate it by pushing the - button. So disappointed. I used to run the speedbox 3 on my old bike and activation was easy using the walk button.
Works for me every time, but the walk button that the other company uses was still more convenient, cause well it's instant. Having to hold down a button which also lowers your assistance level, and then you can't even increase the assistance level back up for a few seconds afterwards (cause it will change the speed limit instead) is kinda annoying. At least I've had no problems with mine, but I also don't use it all the time. I just use it when I'm impatient and want to get back home sooner. In fact half the time I ride my bike I have the motor turned off.

I then got firmware update to 1.1.0.0. I have now bin riding for under 200 km and the 504 error is back. Can you please help, what can i do to fix it so i dont get error 504.
In our experience, the limit for the Gen4 engine with software version 1.1.0.0 and 1.1.2.0 should not be set higher than 35 km/h (22mph) in order to reliably prevent an error 504. As the limit increases, so does the probability of an error 504. In individual cases there may not be any problems even at 40km/h, but at 45km/h it is unfortunately only a matter of time. The same applies to the Gen 3 engine and software version 1.3.0.0. All other software versions for Gen 2, Gen 3 and Gen 4 are not affected by this restriction. PS: With software version 1.0.2.0, error 504 occurs regardless of the set limit, even without a installed tuning module. The only permanent remedy here is a software update.

So just wait until bike switches itself off.
does it work on all software versions?
In the meantime I have over 300km’s with volspeed V3 on gen4, no issues, chip works like a dream, really happy I did it.
Nice to hear. If I may ask, what bike do you have? And what software? Thanks in advance
@@lostintarkov6205 I have the exact same bike as shown in this video LOL :) v1.0.2
1700km in so far! running smooth!
@@Darkfiberke , you have instaled on firmware 1.0.2.0 ? Because that's on my ebike to and tell me please if you have any errors until now, what it's your speed limit and what ride mode do you sugest to use ? I heard that more than 15 minutes in Turbo mode it will give the rider 504 error. That's true ? I don't want to remain stuck with an error in the middle of nowhere. Thank you !
Hi guys, any updates on the 1.1.5.0 firmware testing? Thanks
Can you set the display to MPH using this device or can it only be km/h? Do you have to let a time run down at the end like the Speedbox 3.0?
Yes this works. But you should do the initial setup with display set to km/h. Afterwards you can change back to MPH. There is no time run down at the end.
will this work in mph
Yes, it will also work with mph setting. For the initial setup the display should be set to kph, as the manual is for kph. Afterwards you can switch back to mph.
Works for the gen, 4 625? And what about warranty of the bike? Its traceable?
Yes it works for the gen 4. When installing a tuning you will always loose the warranty. It is not really clear if it is traceable. At the moment we have more than 1000 test kilometers and it was not detected by diagnostic tool afterwards (gen 4, DU firmware 1.0.2.0). At the moment we are testing the 1.0.3.0 firmware.

@@volspeedebiketuning4391 ok ive set mine at 35kph what a beast it pulls like a train and im 116kgs lol thats fast enough great product

Hi any tests on the newest bosch version? The one that gives 85nm of torque?
I’d also like to know this. Newest drive unit version is v1.1.0.0. Do you have any results testing on this version?
The latest update with 85Nm (V 1.1.0.0) is available since 6.7.20. We are currently still testing this. In principle, the tuning will also work with this software. Unfortunately, we do not currently know with certainty whether Bosch has made any changes to the tamper detection, which could then lead to error 504 after some operating time. We now have 350km without any problems. There are still no complaints from customers. We will certainly test for a few more weeks until we have driven about 1000 km with it.
As soon as this software version has been tested sufficiently, we will publish it here:

Should I let the bike turn off by itself after a ride for the volspeed to compensate and avoid 504 or does it not matter? Thanks
these instructions very vague do you have to set limit each time you ride
The limit is stored. You do not have to set it every time you switch on the chip.
What kind of range do you get on a charge from this bike after using the device?
It depends on how fast you are riding and the track. Mostly I have set the limit to 32km/h and the range was between 35km for offroad use and 80km on road with the 500Wh battery.
With a limit set to 32km/h the motor is still limiting the power. When driving on road this leads to a much more sportive driving and less battery consumption. When additionally activating the dynamic mode there is a much smoother fade out of motor power in the speed region of the limit. This feels more natural, more like a bio bike.
Wil this work on my cube 625 2020 model please guys
In fact half the time I ride my bike I have the motor turned off.
bought chip but may return as its very unclear

@ VOLspeed i have a Bosch CX 2020 with at VOLspeed 3 installed. After 300 km i got error 504, i had firmware 1.0.2.0.
i fixed it by cycling 90 minutes in limp mode.
@@volspeedebiketuning4391 ok thanks for the quick reply I will try with 35 km/H. I hope you will make a new product, so I can use the full potential of the motor, I do not care about price i just want it to work. Thanks again
