Always been good cars IMO. I myself have had a Scenic 2 phase 1 1.6 16v, manual gearbox, never had any problems with it. Only standard maintenance, I now drive a Bmw 320i Touring from 2017, automatic gearbox, I regret that I got rid of the Scenic, reliable engines tho...

had a Megane mk1 myself with a 1.6 8v engine, reliable engine with no any oil or coolant consumption, sold that thing at 190k KM on the clock :).

Have the same car and it's a piece of shit. Sure mechanically it's very sound, never had any problems that kept it from running, but otherwise it's a disaster. Dead gauge cluster that passed from 3 electricians till it got fixed, ac leaking over the span of a year, rain drainpipes clogging and flooding the cabin, rear windows not working and parking brake faults from corroded connections, soft plastics disintegrating into a gooey mess and fallen roof textile. It never had a problem that made it unusable or excessively annoying to use but it got pretty much everything else

Me too,i had a 2000 1.6 16v scenic,slightly tuned... 280k kms and its still very reliable.

we own the espace as grand espace 16v with 140ps its a cool car drives beautifully and sounds great. and the speaker system is excelent if you tune it a bit. it was way ahead of its time. when i heard it correctly even your car suffered from the airback bug hahaha
