FF7 Remake is a 10/10 for me because it made me cry, laugh, smile, angry, disgusted, love, all in one game. And all through that, side quests filler or not, hojo dungeon bore or not, I had fun all the way, and smiled all the way. Something no other game has had me feel in such a long time.
Yup, if they make theme park out of it people would go there spend a weekend visiting Mako reactor, Slums and Shinra building. I actually like drawn out side missions due to that reason
When I finished the airbuster fight, I had to take a break for like 30 minutes just from the overwhelming emotion and excitement I got from the song in that fight. I will never forget that moment
The music is soooooooo damn good. Remake is super fun to play a second time too ... when it's been more than a year and you're waiting for a sequel to come out.
It was such a well written cohesive game; when Cloud tells Barret to take Tifa and run and then Barret tells Cloud he was wrong about him. They got the dynamic of the characters so pefect. This section is the end of act 1 and its balanced and paced so well.
Even though I haven’t played the game, there’s just something magical about that main theme. The massive step up to that high note, with the second measure answering the question that the first asks musically. Pure art
@@Kev-O33I disagree, and the original is my favorite game. All of the extra stuff they added just let me experience Midgar on a new and deeper level. Also, I dunno why everyone is complaining about side quests when they’re optional.
I have an immense personal attachment to this game and any iteration of it because of the sheer amount of lore associated with its overworld and the people within it. But this is an unbiased, thoughtful and profound objective view of the magnetism the Remake undeniably has.
Leslie was actually introduced in This Kids Are Alright FFVII light novel. Same as Kyrie. It's a pretty good Turks side story. That side, this was a great video. As Maximilian said, to truly love something, you have to accept its flaws. And I love Remake and OG, both, to death! BTW. Train Graveyard is actually an amazing character exploration for Aerith and FFVII as a whole. Professor Noctis, made an incredible video about it! Made me love that chapter.
FF7 is so special. My favorite game/story/epic of all time. I’ve been playing FF7 since 1997 at 13 years old. I’ve been here/there through it all… the message boards trying to revive Aerith, every game that would come out.. the message board community and my friends would always say… just imagine if they made FF7 like this game… When they announced Remake, I cried… and when they went silent for years and I went through so much life shit in that time. I thought the promise was broken. It was not. They kept the promise. 😢
Honestly, Remake's story is SO impressive. The devs biggest challenge was tackling such a revered and beloved game...how could they 'dare' to remake FF7? With a fanbase that's SO critical? Two genius decisions is how they did it... 1. they didn't make a "remake"... they made "Remake"... 2. They turned their challenge into the story! The Whispers serve as a metaphor for the fans...whenever the player/Cloud is about to go off course from the original game, the Whispers do everything they can to keep things the same. Once we reach the end of Remake, as the trailer for Rebirth says, we have broken the shackles of fate....we were able to help Cloud and co have the opportunity to change their destiny, and give FF7 it's rebirth. That's also why Remake is quite a strict and linear game, the camera is usually quite close with very A to B navigation....meanwhile Rebirth has this super flexible camera, it zooms out really far and we can go in all directions, rather than running along a predetermined 'tunnel' on the screen. Take this amazing narrative foundation, that I think shows a huge amount of respect to the original...they dedicated an ENTIRE GAME to say farewell to the original story....on top of that, incredible graphics, unbelievable soundtrack and awesome gameplay! Can't wait for Rebirth!!
It's one of the coolest expanded sections of the game, unfortunately falling in a less than ideal spot in the game, RIGHT before one of the biggest events in the story. Visually it's a REAL treat though.
Hate it personally, like we are tell too hury because the plate of chapter 7 might collapse at ANY given moment, BUT LOOKS THE CUTE GHOSTS! OMG TIFA IS SCARED, CLOUD BE THE LADIES MAN, ETC. The pacing is dead right here
I feel there was a missed opportunity with the graveyard. If it had been a bit shorter and more intentionally scary/spooky it would have added serious foreboding to the next chapter. Instead we got goofy ghosts and cheap sentimentality.
Are you out of your mind? Literally all the chapters with Aerith ARE the high points of the game cause these are showing the real Midgar. The entire Wall Market segment is chef's kiss, and I'm not gonna even talk about the Sector 5 segment wich really drove home the vibe of the game. The lowest point would be the second time in the sewers because yeah let's be honest that was too much
Actually I feel the same. For me it was a such a huge climax when Cloud falls into the church after the Airbuster fight, you need a chance to calm down with how much adrenaline is going through you. The first few chapters of the game Cloud is an outsider looking in and you feel like someone just passing through. It feels like something is changing when Cloud interacts with Jessie and the others because they are slowly becoming his friends. Then bang the Airbuster fight throws you into act 2. More than anything Remake feels like the story of Midgar. When you meet Aerith everything changes and you feel that Midgar is telling you its story. The world is embedding itself into your brain and you are slowly becoming attached to this city, its characters, its history and its soul. Without that the final chapter of the game woulnd't have the weight it does. When you get to chapter 14 and do all the sidequests and then climb the ruins of sector 7, you feel like Cloud, Tifa and Barret are saying to goodbye to Midgar. There might never be another game like that, even Rebirth I don't think got the pacing right compared to Remake.
I 100% agree about Sephiroth, I’m always telling people he needed to be in FF7Remake. Sephiroth is no longer a mystery, he is a franchise icon and every new player to the series would expect to see him,
Because of this series he’s now one of my favorite villains of all time in any form of fiction. I’ve also come to the conclusion that he is unkillable. He has “died” but not really. He keeps coming back. Which honestly is not even annoying to me.
FFVII Remake would've been a perfect game if they ditched ALL the fetch quests and filled it with fewer but longer, story driven side quests that felt important, had more agency and actually fleshed out Midgar and what life is like in the slums. Those side-missions wouldn't have need the same production value as the main missions, but rather just have really good writing. I could think of many things they could've explored. Like people living in destitution, fearing for the life of their loved ones, gambling, crime, gangsters, corruption, exploitation etc. The dark side of Midgar. You could've made so many interesting side quests (with fighting) which could have in return cut down the padding in the main missions like the sewers, the train graveyard, and hojos lab... Good side missions should feel like main missions but just lacking the cinematic production value.
actuallly i agree but Remake is still mastercalss game and also thats how side quest gonna be in Rebirth! they are gonna be impactfull like Hamaguchi said similar to Witcher 3
I just finished 7R for the first time last month, and yeah I totally agree with you about the pacing. I did all the sidequests up until before the conclusion and I couldn't handle that anymore 😂
Hmmm, maybe it was a blessing that I skipped all the side quests except Aerith's. Unlocking her red dress was a welcome bonus even though I didn't know it was tied to those side quests until recently. (I played it in July of last year)
The remake had terrible level design. It was extremely linear. It felt like I just continuously went forward along the path until the game ended. The character models of the NPCs were garbage as well. The combat was fun and the nostalgia and music was the only thing going for it. If it wasn’t connected to final fantasy and was a separate IP, the game wouldn’t even get half of the praise it has gotten.
I’m a new player since I never played the original, I’m 37 so I could of got it in 1997 but I too would give the game a 10, the overall quality and scenic graphics. I’ll never forget the final chapters from where the plate drops until the end. Very captivating stuff, beautiful music, and the combat which is the bread and butter of the game is on the mark. It’s a 10 all the way from me.
Great video!!!! The pacing didn’t bother me as much bc I’m a psycho completionist and want to get every little bit of what a game has to offer lol but the few times I have gone back and replayed through this game, you can be sure I skipped all the side quests, once was enough for me 😂 ffvii is my fav game of all time and remake did not disappoint!! Counting down the days til rebirth, we’re almost there!!!
For me FF7 remake felt like meeting your old friends after long time and just having good time together, since the original game was big part of my childhood.
The bombing mission in Remake is to me one of the most memorable moments in gaming. I've played it like ten times because I showed it to friends and I've watched plenty of TH-cam reactions when the game came out. It always reminds me of the shock of booting Remake and just be there in the moment mindblown by the fidelity of the graphics as someone who had played the OG.
I honestly love 7R to bits and pieces, it's my favorite game of all time. It goes so deep in expanding the original game, taking lore from every piece of FF7 extended media and weaving it in seamlessly. This game absolutely oozes with passion for the original, its world, characters and storytelling in general. Yes, the pacing is whack, but if that's the price I have to pay to get to know more of the world, I honestly don't care. I've heard that Rebirth will improve those parts as well, so it's very forgivable for me. And I love how willing the devs are to take risks with the story and lore. Spoiler warning: The villain going back in time to change the ending of the original game? It's everything I could've ever dreamed of. Everything that happens from here onwards is up in the air and I love it so much. The devs are risking it all to tell the story they want to tell and those wo claim that it's a simple cash grab are absolutely delusional.
The only one delusional is you. This game is the definition of padding, all those unnecessary changes to the original characters and new ones like Chadley and Roche who bring nothing to the story and completely butcher the atmosphere of the the original game. It was so seamless going around the slums for an hour to replace filters and kill rats, just like the original. How is taking a beloved game that many gamers will have an attachment to risky at all and selling it over 3 times risky? Do you know what a risky project was for Square Enix? FF16. This doesn't even amount to any kind of risk for them, it's really easy money that will allow them to stay alive after their many failures in recent memory (FF16 included). Man, you can like whatever you want, that's fine. However I do not understand how at the same time you can clime like it's some kind of artistic venture into the unknown where the authors take unparalleled creative risks while in reality it's just a continuation of FF7 extended universe, nothing new to see here.
Agreed man. I don't think that many people realize how powerful sephiroth really is. With everything read and explored I fully believe Sephiroth can not really ever die. (And granted we don't know whats going to happened in rebirth and part 3). Rebirth demo was perfect though. (Granted theres one part that was like...yeah that was weird, didn't bother me all that much though).
@@Thevikingninja117 I'm glad to hear that the demo is being received so well! I haven't engaged with any promotional material since the Game Awards trailer so I can go in as blind as possible (though my resolve is being tested massively with everyone screaming about it). Can't wait for all the surprises they're gonna throw at us.
@@kuba37571 the only that was there is side content in a close game that felt forced but u still can skip it. And it is just like ok meh but still. so u not right actually also Rebirth gonna be open and Side content is actually gonna be high quality
Nice video Josh! was honestly scared that you stopped doing yt, glad to see you back after awhile! Keep up the great videos and this made me want to play the FF genre now Lol
Unless of course, they remake Ocarina of Time that only covers the Child section and Ganondorf (who has all of his previous memories) shows up every 5 minutes.
I do that a lot too. Stop right before the end of a jrpg. It's not even because I got stuck. I would just move onto new shiny thing after putting 40+ hours into this game without finishing it.
I'm glad someone used their brain about Sephiroth. He is the most recognizable video game bad guy of all time. To have him be MIA until the Shinra building would have been awful. Thankfully, the devs knew that.
Yeah, FYI Kazushige Nojima has stated time and time again that he doesn’t concern himself about pacing, due to the fact that he is averse at the idea that the characters, lore, and setting are proned to be left unexplored further if the story events are demanded to be expedited by the developers. An example was him advising Nomura’s concern to give every Organization XIII member a resolution/death scene in KH3 that doesn’t momentarily pause the kinetic nature of the battle, to which he just said “Just give them 2-5 minutes of screentime after defeating each of them individually, don’t even bother if it flows naturally”. TL;DR The writer of FFVII prefers to be comprehensive rather than cohesive in writing his stories.
Gotta give Nojima props for that. As little time as Organization got, there was at least that. Wonky pacing has been part of videogames all the time, so let's just take use of that.
There will never be another game like OG FF7. Remake is just another visually polished third person cinematic game, not that different from god of war, last of us or any other modern crap. What gives it slight edge is that it is treated with bit more care but again, its mostly audiovisuals, modern style.
been binging your videos and so far all great content i havent had the chance to play ff7 remake but i remember playing the original one on an emulator cause i hadn’t played any ff after 6 and it was so much fun 10/10 game
I liked your justification for the side content, because I also thought it brought down the pacing of the game drastically. However when I thought about it, I honestly think it was just... There wasn't enough time to create all those assets in one game. They fleshed stuff out in Midgar because they just couldn't make all of Midgar, a new combat system, new characters, blah blah blah and then make an open world on top of that
@@holy9781 not coping, just looking at what we got. While another studio very well might have been able to do it, when remake launched it was very buggy and unpolished. So yeah another publisher might have been able to do it, I'm just saying square was not.
FF7R is a masterpiece ! The OG is genre defining and iconic and remake is also one of the most special and fun games i've ever played, my new fave game of all time ❤
Not to get really deep but man this game saved my life, it kept me going when I was at my lowest. The game is just so wholesome the music, the characters ❤ I never played the original but I remember seeing my brothers playing it. I'm really looking forward to playing Rebirth
2:20 Im the same way. I did yhat with Nier Automata just before ending D and then watched a playthrough. Why I did that? Also did that with Ergo Proxy got to episode 24 and just stopped. I'm weird like that as well.
I agree 110%. When this first came out I had heard plenty of things about og but never played it. This was my first experience with it in 2020. Went through it again recently, yuffie dlc, and almost done with crisis core remastered. Played the rebirth demo(fully knowing what’s really going on), I’ve fully watched videos on og done research about sephiroth, everything. Absolutely love this sequel/alt universe and Sephiroth is now one of my favorite characters in gaming. I don’t think a lot of people understand just how powerful he really is now. Dude is a straight up timeline jumping unkillable demi-god. I am very tempted to go for platinum before rebirth but idk if I have time lol. Plus I’m not that great at making builds. Regardless though I am so stoked for rebirth.
This video is great. You always mix in a good amount of humor to your videos. :) I wonder if they'll release some sort of compilation in the future. I'm not too keen on buying 2 or 3 $700+ consoles over the years just for these.
Imma be honest and say that if Square decides to remake FF8 and reinsert all the cut story content then you’ll likely have a game which can stand toe to toe with ff7 remake.
Guys, I think a lot of the fan base is forgetting that the only reason we have FF7 in a trilogy is because someone was going to leak the remake back in 2015, so square beat them to the punch. But the hardware was limited. If this wasn’t forcibly announced because because of fans/leakers during the PS4 era, we would have gotten ONE GAME in the PS5 era. This in essence, this is OUR fault.
I enjoyed ff7 at age 8 im sure my ma loved i enjoyed it playing hundred plus hours but whoever's first ff was strangers of paradise you got the wrong impression of what final fantasy is.
Midgar was the tutorial in the original. So much happens right after it and the first town after midgar they flush out cloud and tifas back story. I liked remake but it's going to be interesting to see where it goes since they changed alot in the first game
I think square's biggest f-up is not making a complete game. You can really only hit on someone's nostalgia once. By breaking up the game into several games you increase your law of diminishing return. Now some board member at square stood up and said "Well if the first game sold 13 million copies imagine how many we'll move if we break up the game and release several parts!". But people are going to be exhausted by the last one and the return on investment will not match the expected/projected earnings from the start of this.
Question but did you play it on normal or easy mode because on easy mode it was a breeze granted I am someone who nearly 100% kingdom hearts when I was a teenager I am 36 now lol.
Hey man, great video and totally agree with everything you said. But I just gotta say... that video thumbnail is on point! Really really great stuff. 10/10
Even the parts that you said were boring, I loved. Yeah, the pacing felt a little weird at times, but I didn't mind. The way you are prevented from navagating obstacles is really clunky. But you really hit the nail on the head when you said, this game makes me feel things no other game has. I love all the main characters and cherish their interactions. The MUSIC is amazing!! All this is why it has instantly become one of my favorites. And as a new player who has never played another FF game, I'm dying to know: Who the **** is Sephiroth?? (Don't tell me.)
P.S if you haven't played Crisis Core, PLAY IT! I cannot believe how good that game actually is... and it fully explains Zack, and leads into the end of Remake. Things make so much more sense! I hope they make another game like Crisis Core, it was insanely addictive...developing materia and coming up with builds to defeat bosses and some of the best cutscenes in all of FF. Took me years to actually play it for some reason!
Im a newcomer to FF7, and have only played the Remake. I definitely fell in love with the world and overarching story. I did look into the original games story so understand the changes well enough. I see why its controversial. But as of right now I'm down for it. Its a cool idea. Its more of a sequel yet remains mostly faithful, just with altered context and some unpredictability. If they pull it off thats a fantastic idea. Ir it could suck by the end, don't know yet. I ended up liking the game but unfortunately disliked a lot about it as well. Too much filler to the point of mild frustration at points, aweful sidequests I decided to just not do anymore halfway through, weird akward nonsensical dialog, etc. Its FAR from perfect. But despite all its flaws small and large, I still came away fascinated with it and looking forward to the rest. I do hope Rebirth isn't as bad though.
Remake was an amazing experience for me. Im a 40 year old dad and when I realized it was a sequel and not a remake I felt like a kid again. I just played the Rebirth demo while my daughter's (10 and 12) watched. I loved telling them about what really happened at Nibelheim and pointing out the little hints like Tifa's subtle comments.
FF7R is the appetizer of what’s to come and satisfies eager fans till Rebirth. Out of trilogy part 2 would be most expensive and struggle to get it right since part 3 is most likely reusing maps and linear structure back in Midgard
Honestly for me I think the last game to make me feel the same way remake made me feel was grand theft auto 5 like I really can't think of the last time any other games that made me feel the way those 2 games made me feel.
As much as I love the Remake I hope that after they're done with this Trilogy they go back and take all the assets they developed for it and Retail the original story especially for all the new people who are dealing with a time travel story on top of mixture of stuff from the old games
Just wish the filler had more substance. We got fetch quests and monster quests instead of checking out other sectors and getting a deeper story (even a deeper story of Midgar) If FF7R got the treatment BG3 did, man, it probably would have ended up being one of my favorite games ever.
@@blacksunapocalypseI meant to say “how.” Like “how” if it was like BG3 would that make it better if they’re so different and not going for the same thing at all? why compare BG3 and ff7 to each other when they are nothing alike whatsoever? It’s like comparing alien to lord of the rings. They are so different it’s incomparable.
@@Erikthedood I said "the treatment" it got. Like, the passion and substance. For example, take almost ANY BG3 side quest... There is actually a story to it. The NPC's have meaning and passion to their words and the way they talk. The Witcher 3 was much like that as well. Most games these days have a wooden NPC saying something like "Oh no, some mutant rats have taken over the basement, please help me hero." Etc etc. FF7 Remake was basically that for side questing. That level of passion, at least. Remake could have explored other parts of the city, gotten deeper into the lore and mindsets/every day life of the citizens and how depressing and dark it was in Midgar.... But they didn't. It was just "go kill this" or play a minigame here and there. I feel like they just made it too arcadey and the same as any other current game of the last 5 years. It didn't stand out besides it being FF7, imo.
I had never played a FF game before FF 15 and it was a decent game then a few months later FF7 Remake came to PS plus, and holy shit it's now one of my favorite games of all time
we will see if the rest of the trilogy will hold up. i'm betting it will. so 3 of a kind, here's hoping. the game has its flaws, ya, it has some padding. But my god when it works its near perfect. Say what ya will about the ending and the whispers, love them or hate them. They are attempting to tow the line to both render a faithful retelling of the original and extended universe, while adding sprinkles of something new to remain exciting and allow it to stand separate from the original, instead of replacing it. to me that is awesome. i trust the team and their vision as its most of the original leads from the OG. This might be their last chance to do so, they are getting up their in age.
It was nice the first go around, but an absolute drag on any follow play through. Even after 3 years, I tried to replay it to get ready for rebirth, but couldn't get through it.
I’m of the opinion that Final Fantasy VII Remake was the most anticipated remake in history. Not just of gaming, of anything. I seriously cannot think of another property where the original is a beloved landmark of the genre, yet pretty much everyone agreed could be remade better. Because of this, I assumed there was no chance that the game would live up to the hype. And I was pleasantly surprised that the game mostly lived up to the hype…until the final chapter, when everything turned to total nonsense and featured a final battle that may as well have been from another game. I guess what I’m trying to say is that stopping the game before the end is probably the best thing you can do.
Corridor, small cutscene that doesn't add anything, corridor, forced slow walking, cutscene. They really wanted to pad the game hours no matter what, I hope rebirth is not so bad.
Rebirth should be way better for filler, at least for the main story. This is because remake was just midgar stretched out. Rebirth has so much story to cover from the original game that there's no room to ruin the pacing
Great video. I'll be posting a discussion in next few weeks with someone who didnt enjoy yhe game. I might reference this video in that. Lemme know if youre interested in being notified about it
Never have i ever played through a game as soon as it came out as fast as I did with FF7Remake And i attribute final fantasy to what made me become a software engineer, today... I did to game dev school (hence the FF18), only to end up working at a bank out of college (which is why my dream in 2008 (i was im 8th grade) to make a game comparable (to me) by or work on Final Fantasy 17 wasnt what my tag has, being realistic)
(I'd also argue Final fantasy got me into music production (I took my piano lessons seriously because of Final fantasy X, my first final fantasy game), got me into thinking about video games as an art form (thanks easy allies/game trailers), and I dunno, I'd also argue Final Fantasy half got me to like martial arts classes, met my idol growing up in Monty Oum as an indie game journalist for my college before he passed, super nice guy who gave me some advice on DDR) Yeah, for as crazy as things are, I don't know where I would be as a person if the folks at Gametrailers (easy allies) didn't make a retrospective and in the part about final fantasy 7, didn't mention how jenova was inspired by Hironobu Sakaguchi dealing with the loss of his mother.
On tonight episode of Unsolved Mysteries...what happened to Amelia Earhart...are aliens out there...is their life after death...how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tostieroll pop...and how did Final Fantasy, Madonna,David Bowie,Miley Cyrus and Panic at the Disco cultivate a fanbase that is adverse to change yet they have been about reinvention since day one?
@Super_Hambone And I just got in my subscription box NBC news saying that a pilot believes he found Amelia Earheart....I litterally used her as an example BECAUSE I thought it would never be solved. 🤦🏾♂️
6:10 I was just listening to this, not really watching. I think a little more emphasis on the "k" sounds in knickers might have been beneficial. Caught me off guard lol
Hello! I see that you must also be a fan of Secret of Mana - Hell, yeah!! Visions of Mana is looking terrific, so far. My 2 most anticipated games are that and Rebirth.
Hello! Secret of Mana is a strange title for me, it has a whooole host of flaws that somehow can't keep me from adoring it. I plan on talking about it eventually, hopefully before Visions of Mana!
@Super_Hambone I was first introduced to it because Blockbuster had it available for rental. My best friend and I both rented it separately and together. This was as fun a co-op RPG to play with your best friend as the TMNT2 arcade game was to play co-op as an action-adventure. I probably hadn't been as excited to play a co-op game, since then. I an crossing my fingers that they will use what made the series great in this new game. It looks like an OG fan's dream!!!
I think most people have come around to the fact that only covering Midgar was a mistake. The weird pacing is padding, and it's awful. I'm enjoying it so far but I really am not a fan of them trying to white wash the bombing missions. In the original, there was no Shinra making the explosion bigger. Period. Avalanche bombing reactors and hurting lots of people in the process is a key part of Barret's arc and growth as a human being, and attempts to white wash their actions will have long term effects on the story and characters. Great video btw, thanks for exploring this in an objective way.
that's still what's happened they expanded it too, u should play forward the game. Also Avalanche is bigger was actually an original concept and we saw it in Before Crisis, and its good. bruh
Good to know I wasnt the only person who felt this game was amazing yet not at hte same time. The disappearing characters and bloat kina stinks, but its a fun experience.
Lmao the end of this video is very relatable. I have a huge problem with starting games and never finishing them. I haven't finished FF16 either, GoW Ragnarok, FFX, and a bunch of other new games in my 100+ game backlog I finally got my ass in gear and decided to hurry up and finish the original just before rebirth comes out and I also decided to start my platinum trophy journey for FF7R starting with the PS4 version then doing Intergrade. Incredible video and i wish you luck with Rebirth, hopefully you can beat the final boss instead of giving up this time lol.
Ok wait, I just stopped at 6:34. There's a NEW geometry dash!? I was unaware of this! I beat all the old levels except for deadlocked 77% on that. I hadn't played in years because there was no update but I just checked for 2.2. THEN I went to see what level I hadn't finished and it turns out there's been add ons? Wtf!?!?!?!? I love it! Anyway, let me press play. Carry on.
I can not wait for the wtf moments in this game like in the first one when barret died, it was like whaaaaat! Because in the original that never happened.
Yes there will be. Give it another 25 years and we will see FF7 Re-remake. Hyper realistic graphics and VR with added A.I. personalities for the characters. You know this cow isnt done being milked after the trilogy ends.
honestly im one of the those enlightened centrists regarding this game. and alot of it has to do with that final fantasy is a series i couldnt get into and didnt finish ff7 og. i ended up playing the remake after watching a playthrough of the og. and i didnt really like it much, scoring it a 5.5/10. the combat, music, presentation, and characterization of the cast are all great. but man, its structure and "expanding" on midgar just killed so much enjoyment of this game. and another big issue this game has is the fact it kinda just screws everyone. it screws old fans for blatantly telling them "lmao you wanted a faithful retelling? get fucked" and it screws new fans by not being very accessible to them as to understand alot of moments in the story you'd have to have knowledge of the og. oh and sephirof just high jacking the story was stupid. they shouldve kept his presence the same as the og. i dont hate this remake like alot of people do but i dont love it like alot of people do

Pure art
Final fantasy music is the universal language
its such a painfull game compared to the og. so much extra unnecessary stuff to it to waste time.
except for DEAF people!!!!! i love this video!
@@Kev-O33I disagree, and the original is my favorite game. All of the extra stuff they added just let me experience Midgar on a new and deeper level. Also, I dunno why everyone is complaining about side quests when they’re optional.
You're walking through the slums when that main theme starts playing. I found myself asking, why is the music so good here??
I’ve been here/there through it all… the message boards trying to revive Aerith, every game that would come out.. the message board community and my friends would always say… just imagine if they made FF7 like this game…
When they announced Remake, I cried… and when they went silent for years and I went through so much life shit in that time.
I was actually mesmerized by the train graveyard section. I loved its atmosphere, mystique, music and the boss fights were top notch :)
It's one of the coolest expanded sections of the game, unfortunately falling in a less than ideal spot in the game, RIGHT before one of the biggest events in the story. Visually it's a REAL treat though.
Yep, I get that but personally I don't mind the pacing of it.
I cant relate
Hate it personally, like we are tell too hury because the plate of chapter 7 might collapse at ANY given moment, BUT LOOKS THE CUTE GHOSTS! OMG TIFA IS SCARED, CLOUD BE THE LADIES MAN, ETC. The pacing is dead right here
I feel there was a missed opportunity with the graveyard. If it had been a bit shorter and more intentionally scary/spooky it would have added serious foreboding to the next chapter. Instead we got goofy ghosts and cheap sentimentality.
Facts bro, this game is like a love letter to everyone who grew up on this game.
No 😂
Lol no it's horrible
Are you out of your mind? Literally all the chapters with Aerith ARE the high points of the game cause these are showing the real Midgar. The entire Wall Market segment is chef's kiss, and I'm not gonna even talk about the Sector 5 segment wich really drove home the vibe of the game. The lowest point would be the second time in the sewers because yeah let's be honest that was too much
I can assure you with full confidence that yes, I am pathologically insane.
Dude seriously you’re so underrated you’re like, one of my favorite jrpg youtubers
You deserve at least 100x more subscribers
I 100% agree about Sephiroth, I’m always telling people he needed to be in FF7Remake. Sephiroth is no longer a mystery, he is a franchise icon and every new player to the series would expect to see him,
Because of this series he’s now one of my favorite villains of all time in any form of fiction. I’ve also come to the conclusion that he is unkillable. He has “died” but not really. He keeps coming back. Which honestly is not even annoying to me.
Dude your videos are amazingly well done and hilarious lol. FF7 Remake is definitely within my top 3 favorite games of all time, I love it to pieces.
I GREATLY prefer the way 17 handled it, a linear story with sidequests in a binch of shorter, manageable bursts
It's strange, I also quit Persona 5 in the last dungeon. Sometimes the steam engine just stops choo-chooing right before the finish.
Had me hooked through those 30 minutes. Here's the comment for the algorithm, good video bro
Thamks!! Here's 10 dollars.
I thought ff15 was as bad as it could get, with this game I stand corrected!
The "Pizza's here" line right at the end cause a legitimate spit-take in my office
Spoiler warning:
The villain going back in time to change the ending of the original game?
@FIREDAN075 don't waste your breath for this people buddy if you enjoy the game that's matters. it's your opinion that counts. 😊
Nice video Josh! was honestly scared that you stopped doing yt, glad to see you back after awhile! Keep up the great videos and this made me want to play the FF genre now Lol
Nope! Just took a break cause of some life stuff. Hope all is well✌️
Unless of course, they remake Ocarina of Time that only covers the Child section and Ganondorf (who has all of his previous memories) shows up every 5 minutes.
They're scared to do something so bold and brash
That would honestly be SO sick.
@@Super_Hambonebold lmao
Oh my God shush don't give me hope (Make it Wind Waker Ganondorf too omg)
What gives it slight edge is that it is treated with bit more care but again, its mostly audiovisuals, modern style.
been binging your videos and so far all great content
i havent had the chance to play ff7 remake but i remember playing the original one on an emulator cause i hadn’t played any ff after 6 and it was so much fun 10/10 game
I liked your justification for the side content, because I also thought it brought down the pacing of the game drastically. However when I thought about it, I honestly think it was just... There wasn't enough time to create all those assets in one game. They fleshed stuff out in Midgar because they just couldn't make all of Midgar, a new combat system, new characters, blah blah blah and then make an open world on top of that
It couldn't do all that on a ps4 when read dead built a whole world and many other games did?Im sorry but the coping mechanisms are real with the fans
Are you going to play the original.
Us fan0
I wonder if they'll release some sort of compilation in the future. I'm not too keen on buying 2 or 3 $700+ consoles over the years just for these.
Imma be honest and say that if Square decides to remake FF8 and reinsert all the cut story content then you’ll likely have a game which can stand toe to toe with ff7 remake.
I wouldn't say stand toe to toe, 8 probably will be leaps ahead of 7 due to the story has been only told once and not around 5 times.
Hellhouse boss fight in Remake still gives me chills thinking about it. So fucking good.
Oh wow I never knew this. Whoever this leaker is, thank you! I'm so happy things turned out the way it did.
Who made this up and why do people believe everything lmaoo
@@holy9781Nomura literally talked at LENGTH about this in a an interview. If you’re skeptical, it’s an easy Google search away.
10/10 game for me. I played it in 2020. I hadn't felt this excited in the whole last decade of the 2010s. Currently replaying it!
This is truly, the most final fantasy
The game ever!?!?🤯🤯
This video is really good makes me wanna replay it before rebirth
That's exactly what I did. Keep in mind that characters don't carry over. All 3 games are standalone
I’m going to have to agree. As much as I’m excited about Rebirth, I think it’s got big shoes to fill when it comes to the follow up for part one.
Are you going to play the original?
Imagine if the FF9 Remake is real and held to the same standard as FF7R. Or what if SE magically decides to remake FF6. How insane would that be? 😂
Then what are you doing here? xD Those are the best FF games
I LOVED THE SUBTLE HINTS THAT WAS SO COOL
FF7R is the appetizer of what’s to come and satisfies eager fans till Rebirth. Out of trilogy part 2 would be most expensive and struggle to get it right since part 3 is most likely reusing maps and linear structure back in Midgard
Late to the party on this one great video as always, that Rebirth demo though 🔥
That Monster House joke got an actual, full guffaw out of me.
Dude, you kinda resemble the voice actor for Cloud, Cody Christian lol
Honestly for me I think the last game to make me feel the same way remake made me feel was grand theft auto 5 like I really can't think of the last time any other games that made me feel the way those 2 games made me feel.
any chance we can get you to do the thug shake?
As much as I love the Remake I hope that after they're done with this Trilogy they go back and take all the assets they developed for it and Retail the original story especially for all the new people who are dealing with a time travel story on top of mixture of stuff from the old games
22:57 that 16 OST is Fire!
final fantasy 9 needs a remake
I just 100% completed it last night
Just wish the filler had more substance. We got fetch quests and monster quests instead of checking out other sectors and getting a deeper story (even a deeper story of Midgar)
If FF7R got the treatment BG3 did, man, it probably would have ended up being one of my favorite games ever.
I don’t understand how
How what?@@Erikthedood
I had never played a FF game before FF 15 and it was a decent game then a few months later FF7 Remake came to PS plus, and holy shit it's now one of my favorite games of all time
7 remake and 15 are the 2 worst squire-enix games I have played
we will see if the rest of the trilogy will hold up. i'm betting it will. so 3 of a kind, here's hoping.
the game has its flaws, ya, it has some padding.
That last Ghostwire Tokyo joke sent me. Holy shit, it’s too real for me. 😂
Corridor, small cutscene that doesn't add anything, corridor, forced slow walking, cutscene. They really wanted to pad the game hours no matter what, I hope rebirth is not so bad.
If you want, you can play the Rebirth demo. There's also going to be a Junon demo days from now.
Lemme know if youre interested in being notified about it
Sure! I'd love to give it a listen sometime.
@@Super_Hambone sounds good will do
Never have i ever played through a game as soon as it came out as fast as I did with FF7Remake
And i attribute final fantasy to what made me become a software engineer, today... I did to game dev school (hence the FF18), only to end up working at a bank out of college (which is why my dream in 2008 (i was im 8th grade) to make a game comparable (to me) by or work on Final Fantasy 17 wasnt what my tag has, being realistic)
(I'd also argue Final fantasy got me into music production (I took my piano lessons seriously because of Final fantasy X, my first final fantasy game), got me into thinking about video games as an art form (thanks easy allies/game trailers), and I dunno, I'd also argue Final Fantasy half got me to like martial arts classes, met my idol growing up in Monty Oum as an indie game journalist for my college before he passed, super nice guy who gave me some advice on DDR)
Yeah, for as crazy as things are, I don't know where I would be as a person if the folks at Gametrailers (easy allies) didn't make a retrospective and in the part about final fantasy 7, didn't mention how jenova was inspired by Hironobu Sakaguchi dealing with the loss of his mother.
THAT'S WHAT I'VE BEEN SAYING MY WHOLE LIFE
@Super_Hambone And I just got in my subscription box NBC news saying that a pilot believes he found Amelia Earheart....I litterally used her as an example BECAUSE I thought it would never be solved.
It looks like an OG fan's dream!!!
i have played the first chapter of this game SO many goddamn times
I was waiting to finish persona 3 before buying rebirth but damn you hyped me up to they point I'm buying it tomorrow lol
Also Avalanche is bigger was actually an original concept and we saw it in Before Crisis, and its good. bruh
@@FIREDAN075 did you play the original?
I feel like a mass effect 1 remake could be pretty big but bioware imploded so I don't think they could pull it off anymore
Carry on.
Your Sora is leaning back lol
He's chilling.
hablo poco ingles estoy aprendiendo pero se me hicieron muy entretenidos tus videos new sub!
Wrong. There will never be another game like Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin
I can not wait for the wtf moments in this game like in the first one when barret died, it was like whaaaaat! Because in the original that never happened.
Run, pizza man, run away.
You have to live
Yes there will be. Give it another 25 years and we will see FF7 Re-remake. Hyper realistic graphics and VR with added A.I. personalities for the characters. You know this cow isnt done being milked after the trilogy ends.
Love the game with all its flaws! It has more cons for sure and it totally worth of playing :)
20:00 thats not a bad thing persay.
It's a very self-aware game.
Another great video.❤
honestly im one of the those enlightened centrists regarding this game. and alot of it has to do with that final fantasy is a series i couldnt get into and didnt finish ff7 og.
i ended up playing the remake after watching a playthrough of the og.
and i didnt really like it much, scoring it a 5.5/10. the combat, music, presentation, and characterization of the cast are all great. but man, its structure and "expanding" on midgar just killed so much enjoyment of this game.
and another big issue this game has is the fact it kinda just screws everyone. it screws old fans for blatantly telling them "lmao you wanted a faithful retelling? get fucked" and it screws new fans by not being very accessible to them as to understand alot of moments in the story you'd have to have knowledge of the og. oh and sephirof just high jacking the story was stupid. they shouldve kept his presence the same as the og.
i dont hate this remake like alot of people do but i dont love it like alot of people do
