The coloring books are very relaxing and really help if you are anxious, and suffer from anxiety. It gets your mind off whatever is stressing you out by concentrating on how you want to color the intricate designs.

I have skitzo affective disorder which is like bipolar and schizophrenia, for years now in psychiatric wards and hospitals they have these colouring books for the patients, it helps destract from suicidal thoughts and calms anxiety and helps you focus on that instead of the voices, it really works and it helped me when I was very unwell so it is recommended by metal health professionals to help people with no real coping mechanisms and can stop people committing suicide because If they have it in their head before I do anything try to distract which we are taught to do so you aren't acting on impulse having one of these to calm you down and help you think about nothing and actually stops people from killing themselves, it has worked for me and many others like me xx
My daughter is almost 6 and I got her a scripture coloring book for “big church”. She picks a picture the night before church and has it in her church bag. She is coloring and stares at it and then memorized the scripture.

I thought it was such a cute story :) When I was a kid, the kind of gifts I got were school supplies mostly. The big stuff - Super Nintendo and Barbies were things I'd get for Christmas.
What makes them adult books is the complexity and intricacy that would be boring, busy and hard for a kid but boost concentration and soothe the eyes of an adult.
