I mean premise wise they didn't "bring their sons" they went to a dating show and were surprised by their sons. Now of course after what happens in episode 4-5 all bets are off. Because you can't maintain that premise after that.

I grew up in the NYC area, in the era when there was a LOT of racism toward Puerto Ricans. All the middle-aged women who were friends of my parents would complain about them speaking Spanish in public. Restaurants, the subway, even personal conversations at work. They just KNEW that they were the subject of gossip. None of these white, middle-class, middle-aged women were interested in learning Spanish. But as I learned a smattering of Spanish, not enough to even have a conversation, but to pick up the gist of some conversations, I learned that these conversations were as banal as what my parent's friends talked about. No one was gossiping about any of them. So yeah, that paranoia is born of racism.
i will say that i live in an area that has a lot of hmong people and i went to school with a lot them and i mentioned to my boyfriend at the time (who was hmong) that when they were talking hmong to each other it seemed like they were talking shit (coz they would switch in and out and it was just the vibe) and he said they 100% were...that being said hmong wasn't their first language it was more like a cheat to say whatever they wanted to their friends but no adults and everyone else had no idea what they were saying....i don't think that is the situation a lot of the time but it is a thing people do SOMETIMES lol
You think in the language that you consider your first. So people usually feel more comfortable to express themselves in that language no matter what it is. To go around and think that people are judging you because they speak in a different language shows your insecurity and that you think everyone pays attention to you. You won't pay attention to all the people around you that speak English why would you pay to someone who doesn't?

I guess I can partly understand Kelle’s insecurity only because Pola is very clear she doesn’t like Kelle with Jose which would strengthen the fears she already has again even deeper than I think from before the show, however, I do think there is a lot of ways this insecurity that is manifesting is rooted in internal discrimination and lack of understand to bilingual families. Especially when there is such a flip in how instantly angry she gets rather than seeking any other forms of communication

My biggest issue with this episode is that the way to win the game is stump your mom/son meaning to win is to be wrong. Why did none of them figure out to win they just had to be wrong on purpose. Everyone is trying to guess correctly. The goal should’ve been to guess correctly not be stumped…
At first I thought it was to incentivize the contestants to share the most outrageous secrets, things they might otherwise not have. But then they acted surprised to learn that those were the secrets being shared, so I guess not.
Is it bad if I'm wondering if the producers somehow KNEW Paola and Jose were planning a trip to that landmark and were hoping for drama, so that's why they suggested it to Kelle who innocently took Jose there?
I felt so bad for Jimmy. He found out that both his mother and his best friend betrayed him just so they can have sex. On top of that his mother is like 'we can talk about it' like what can you say that will make it better? Yes you are a woman of course, but you had thousands of different options and yet you decided to go ahead and sleep with a person that your son trusted. i will add: in most countries (outside of the us, canada, and the uk) communal bathing is SUPER common, both at home and at bath houses. i know its really common in east asia. obviously, i have no clue if jimmy grew up sharing a tub, but it really isn't weird that so-young so casually talks with him while he's naked in the pool. its just one of those cultural things, yknow?

@SuperWolfkin to answer your question about cross sex cummunal bathing, yes that is still common. It's actually completely normal for fathers to bath with their young daughters and vice versa in Asian countries. It's just weird for US because we kind of cut that off really early and or get uncomfortable at the idea of men in a potentially sexual situation with a young girl.

I guess I can partly understand Kelle’s insecurity only because Pola is very clear she doesn’t like Kelle with Jose which would strengthen the fears she already has again even deeper than I think from before the show, however, I do think there is a lot of ways this insecurity that is manifesting is rooted in internal discrimination and lack of understand to bilingual families. Especially when there is such a flip in how instantly angry she gets rather than seeking any other forms of communication
