Fully agree. Careful timing of a reactor's commentary can really make or break the experience. For every empathetic, insightful, invested reactor (like Niall) there are probably 2 or 3 more who have no actual reverence for the story, are mainly there just to monetize their babble (and often their trashy jokes), and couldn't care less about how unpleasant it is to watch.

This whole season was me going "these children need THERAPY!!!" especially Wille
No no no no August is to blame for a lot awful things happening in this series but what we are not going to do is say that he manipulated Sara in any way. She choose her side. She is not a victim. She betrayed her brother, nor for August but for a "better" life for herself.

I agree with you that Sara isn’t totally a victim of August, but I will say that Sara’s autism definitely affects her decisions a *lot* this season, the main way it affects her being her very black-and-white thinking, which has definitely benefited her in the past (it’s the reason she views Micke as an entirely bad person, which allowed her to more effectively cut him out of her life) but, this season, it gets combined with the “rose-tinted glasses” that tend to come with crushes. So suddenly you’ve got a girl who’s a very black-and-white thinker looking at August through rose-tinted glasses, causing her to basically justify everything he does because “he’s a good person”, and while I’m not saying that she did nothing wrong (because she absolutely did a lot of wrong) I can totally understand where a lot of her mistakes came from.

Sorry for the super long comment though, I’m just kinda really obsessed with Sara (plus Wilhelm and Simon) at the moment and it’s led me to do a lot of thinking on why she acts as she does. I’m also not trying to call anyone ableist for not understanding how it affects Sara, the main reason I did so much thinking on it is because I, myself, am autistic and Young Royals happens to be a special interest of mine.
@@RedBanana_ No, I totally get how Sara's autism affects her behavior. The way she speaks, the way she reacts to the feelings and thoughts of others. But I don't think that is an excuse for her behavior. I think that Sara is just fundamentally a selfish person, just like August. Being neurodivergent might explain some of her behavior, but not all of it. I like that. I like that she is more than autistic and any character should be. In her case, it happens that she is a selfish person. P.S. She isn't *at all* a victim of August.
@@luiscalzoncit2820 I think my general perspective in regards to whether or not she’s a victim of August is, I’d say when her feelings get hurt by him, it’s always just collateral damage. Like, when he keeps telling her that he’s going to turn himself in or that he feels really guilty about what he’s done (I do think he feels guilty but more in a “you don’t feel bad that you did it, you feel bad that you got caught” kinda way?) and then not, and then using the information that she keeps giving him to hurt the people she cares about (which, yes, she completely screwed Simon over but, I think she obviously still cares about him).

Basically, I don’t think she’s necessarily a victim, but she did get involved with the wrong things and then kept getting caught in the crossfire.
@@RedBanana_ Which she did by her own choice and volition. She didn't only betray Simon, but also Felice, probably the two people who love her for who she is and not for what she wants to be. Yes, August sometimes inadvertently hurts her, but she also hurts him back, as he genuinely fell in love with her and when he was ready to declare her love for her, she still chose her own reputation and status with her new friends over the guy she supposedly "fell in love with" in her own words. To me both she and August are on the same level. But it's not a bad thing because both are multifaceted characters with depth and flaws.

Yeah, i know the Swedish royal family said that but i still don't think the show is just "being dramatic". It is easier for the Swedish royals to say that now because the Crown Princess is in a straight relationship (even married) and there will be no 'danger' of a problem of that kind anytime soon. Also, the question of succession is still not solved, they said it would only be settled when it's actually necessary and there actually is a king or queen in a queer relationship. So yeah, there would still be drama if something like Wilhelm and Simon happened in real life.
Have you forgotten about princess Estelle? The daughter of the Crown Princess. She’s still just 12, you’d never know if she were to come out or not :)

Marcus is NOT nice. First he invades Simon's private space, after Simon had his privacy violated by the whole world. And then on the Karaoke he introduced Simon as a celebrity, making sure everybody knew he was there with the boy in the video. And then when he rejected Simon's move, he sort of manipulated him into an emotional relationship instead, something Simon neither wanted nor agreed to. And later he just turns into a classic Nice Guy. Blargh.

I'm always preaching to the congregation about August - he is horrible - but the poor boy is all alone and has zero guidance! Unlike most people, I almost cried while August was sitting there eating alone, he put himself in that position but it's still sad for one so young! I was all for Markus being a rebound, rebound, rebound! I'm also in the minority when it comes to the Queen, I don't think she's a horrible mother. Kristina is actually a good mom who is making mistakes with her decisions, parents do that sometimes, make mistakes.
Well, after the next episode your problem with Markus will be resolved 😉 (I figured that you've allready watched that episode when this is posted)

Simon really bugged me this season. Wil put everything on the line and Simon just acted too entitled to get more than a 16 year old royal is able to give. Finish the 2 years in school before asking your partner to burn the world down 😂

I wouldn't say Simon acts entitled about what he wants from Wille. He asks for what every person should have in a healthy relationship.
Simon asked for honesty and communication between them. Not for everything to be on Wille's terms - but for them to talk about their next steps. Instead Wille went ahead with the Queen's wishes to make a statement without telling Simon first. So he lost his trust in Wille. Then Wille didn't share his knowledge about August so taking away Simon's agency to make decisions about a video that is affecting his life now and future prospects. Even in the classroom when Wille snarkily says I'm trying to give you the space you seemed to love, Simon says I'm just telling you how I feel, you should try it sometime.
Simon only demands communication and honesty from Wille. Things eventually escalate in the arguments they have with him saying he doesn't accept Wille's family which is a horrible thing to say to him. He is comparing being in an open relationship with Marcus to being in a hidden one with Wille which is unfair - Wille can't be as open as Marcus. But again, if they communicated better Wille could help Simon understand what he is going through. He doesn't openly communicate with Simon until ep 5. Then their relationship starts to get better, and Simon starts to make his own compromises.
And how old is Simon? 40? And isn't assuming (not even asking!) that an openly gay person will eagerly be your secret lover and deciding everything for the two of you too much? And after Wille backed away from their relationship and took back his words at least 3 times in S1 can you really blame Simon for having doubts? I 'love' how people cheer that Simon sees and loves Wille as an equal, as a person regardless his title, but get bugged when he wants to be treated as an equal in the relationship
