Number 3 was - Give an event 6 weeks before killing it for non attendance. You gotta give people time to adjust. Also run a recruitment event before you start the new event to make sure players are interested.
Thank you Travis, for touching on tip number 7 right off the bat! I can't tell you how many game stores that I've been in, even to this day, that have a gross, filthy bathroom.
It may not be a turn off for the average gamer, but it could be an absolute deal-breaker for the mom that's bringing their kid to your store.
It's a priority for us. That's not to say we don't have full trash cans and need to refill paper towel holders in the middle of a busy Saturday. Given how many people stay for tournaments and how many families come in the store the bathrooms have to be on point at all times.
These are fantastic, thanks for sharing your experience! -CapeFearGames
Love your videos!! Just started working at a small game store last year and your videos are so helpful!
There is a lot of great points here. Thanks for making videos like this.
Another great topic. Watching your videos feels like a great introduction to understanding how a small business works. Thank you!
Thanks so much. I'm happy you are enjoying them.
This is a very informative video. I definitely am hooked on this entire video series and am watching them now. I was always curious on how game store operate and the associated stories behind that. Thanks Travis!
Thanks for watching!
I would like to see a video on how you train your staff. Every interaction I have ever had in the store has been positive, even when my kids are being super annoying. Also, update your website it still has a picture from your old retail space😊
Thank you. We're in the process of building a new website which is why we haven't done much with the old on since the move. Maybe an employee training video in the future.
I've been enjoying these videos. It is very refreshing to hear an honest and casual story about your store.
Also, in this current age where many customer service employees actively seem to avoid customers, your store is a brilliant exception.
Thanks. I'm nothing without my employees. They are fantastic.
It was a Yu-Gi-Oh event tier, Pokémon doesn’t currently have a tier like that (though rumblings are that a new event tier will open up soon and millennium’s space is perfect from what I’m hearing about it)
Thanks Jay.
