- On this episode of Tobacco Selections, our Head Blender Jeremy Reeves takes a closer look at one of our favorite Oriental varietals: Katerini. A small-leaf, sun-cured tobacco from Greece, Katerini is among the rarer types of Oriental out there, so we use it only sparingly in a handful of select blends. Pairing great with choice Virginias, Perique, and Latakia, Katerini offers a subtle, natural sweetness along with a little tang and notes of allspice. Watch the video for more tasting notes, as well as a few of Jeremy's recommended blends.
What's your favorite Oriental blend? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below.
Interesting as always. I have really developed a fondness for Miskatonic, very nice blend with Katerini. Keep up the great work Jeremy, it is appreciated.
Sounds really nice. Bijou is in queue now.
i love Oriental
I always learn from these videos. Thanks for doing what you do!
Have you ever blended with Xanthis? It was a component of McClelland's Old Dog, which is one of my all time favorite blends. Would be very interested to see what you could do with it.
Just tried Katarini in Bijou, that was amazing!!!
I found an Old Grove I bought from 2017, cant wait to rehydrate it and try!
I love bijou.

Great vids, great tobacco. Thanks!
I bought Dreams of Kadath hoping to taste Katerini for the first time
but couldn't taste it as all Dreams of Kadath offered was a trombone effect
of Kentucky dark fired tobacco.
This makes me want to try a 40% Katerini with a 30%Red Virginia and 30% Yellow Virginia blend.
Hi Jeremy, why don't you post a new educational video? I am from Iran and I always watch your videos many times and I want to get into this.
Interesting. I love Oak Alley and thought the Katerini was such an interesting component. Seems like it really contributes to that slightly fruity, sweet and sour richness of that blend. I will definitely have to try Bijou and Joie de Vivre as well. Hopefully, you guys can get some more of the leaf at some point!
Throwing this in miskatonic mixture blew my mind.
Very interesting, definitely gonna try some blends with this in them! Thanks for sharing!
