Finally the correct way to sharpen a guillotine cutter! The other videos I watched on TH-cam so far have only showed me how NOT to sharpen my cutter....LOL! Thank you for sharing!
Great video. The 14 minute part about the mechanics of the cutter is really important, and is often a mystery. Thanks. I am not sure I have all the right tools to repair my paper cutter. But will look into it
I learn by making the mistakes myself. Then try and pass my learnings onto others so maybe they don’t make the same errors. I also learn by understanding the principles behind what I am trying to achieve. Quick trip to your local hardware store will get you all set up if you don’t have the tools already
Great video! I've thought about trying to do this for a while but haven't yet. Your instruction was excellent & now I'm inspired to give it a shot. Thanks.
A note on the reassembly (at th-cam.com/video/L-7iO8reZuY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=wlIfQTv3u8BIXwsN&t=861): those are Belleville washers, not wave washers--both a type of spring washer--and the flange nut should go against the stack of Belleville washers with the smaller nut next to act as a jam nut. The flange nut offers a larger surface for the Belleville to press against. You can also reverse one or two of the Belleville washers to change the springiness (i.e., spring constant). Good, concise video, though.
Awesome! I bought a used Boston 2612 from a flea market, same issue's. How would I get in touch with you. I would prefer to send you the cutter an let you do the repairs.
@Dtag1971 send me an email at ecrisler@acutaboveknifesharpening.com and I will provide you with my address. Flea markets and garage sales are where the good finds are at
4:16 for anyone looking. Nice tip. Instead of lubing the screw, use a pasted course abrasive to allow screw driver head to tightly bind into screw. I’ve not thought about it like that. I guess this substance is the anti-lube.

Hi Gr8 video! Curious how much you charge to sharpen this cutter ?
I don’t remember exactly on this one somewhere between $10-15 all depends on condition and overall size
Question: What file did you use there?
Quite honestly I’m not sure. I have a ton of files and not sure what I grabbed for this. Either a flat second or smooth
