- This is going to be a two-part video Jason is going to do Step by Step how to sharpen or replace the HFS guillotine paper cutter blade and red pad. Please watch the video all the way through so you do not cut yourself and how to hold the blade. The blade is still very sharp even when it is not cutting at its best the blade can cause serious injury. The HFS paper cutter is the 12" but would be the exact same process for the 17" the manufacturing for this Hardware Factory Store. Prior to this point is disassembly and tips. I'm surprised there are no leather gloves being used on either hand during sharpening. One slip and you slice your fingers off.
Yep! I was thinking the same... just one slip.. yikes!
thanks for the video, just some info the red plastic thing is called the cutting stick and you and buy a new blade on amazon for about $30.00 or if you have a print shop near you just ask them and they can tell you of a place that use to sharpen theirs and because it is so small it should cost about $15.00 or $20.00, Thanks again for the vid

good instructional vid. except, put the blade on the table with blade edge over the table edge, keep it steady and slide the steel over it, handling the blade like this is asking for trouble. The kitchen honing steel does NOT sharpen anything! It will knock some burrs off that formed on the blade from use so it seems a little sharper, but it will not make the rest of the blade that got dull(er) with use any sharper. That may be enough for some people, but if you want it really sharp again, sharpening stone must be used.
I have a hard time getting mine to cut 8-1/2” x 11” paper in perfect halves. It always shifts alittle and I end up with uneven stacks :( . Any tips?
Seems most of them ship like this, you need to remove the panel on the cutting board side and tighten the bolts by the handle very tight. This fixed the issue with mine.
While you are at it, might as well do it a full bit [not a little bit] LOL 🤣
I lost the screws of my blade. Do you know how could I get replacements? Or the right size so I can look for them at my local Lowes or Home Depot??? Thank you in advance!!!

Great video :). What is the model and brand of your guillotine? I have an 18inch guillotine and i cant cut evenly on multiple papers as the blade is 2 sided beveled. Its a heavy duty guillotine similar to yours but larger. The blade that you use is one side beveled(one diagonal cut). Im looking for that kind as it will cut evenly to whatever thickness it can. Thanks

Well I have tried 400 sheets and yes it cuts. But never gone up to 600
Blade is more expensive than the guillotine itself. It is ridiculous
they are pretty expensive that is why we shared this video to let people know you can sharpen the blade. Just be careful because it is still sharp learned the hard way here. Thanks for watching.
