In today's video I will be going in detail on the contents of the updated cover letter that you will be including in your file for USCIS immigration packet/file for I-130 and I-485 (Petition for Alien Relative and Adjustment of Status). There have been some changes since my original video, such as form I-944 is no longer required, different lockbox facilities, and other supporting documents.
Frequently Asked Questions:
1. You do not need a cover letter for online applications. Like I said, this is not a requirement and is simply a good idea to include with your mailed packet.
2. Your cover letter does not need to look exactly like mine. And the evidence in this cover letter will vary depending on your situation.
3. The cover letter is mainly for people applying from inside the US. Again, a cover letter is a description of paperwork in your envelope. If you’re submitting things on CEAC portal, you do not need a cover letter.
4. Why don’t I have I-693 listed on my cover letter? Because I did not send it with my I-485 application, I waited until the interview. No, you do not need to provide a copy of any vaccination records if you’re not sending your medical exam form with the packet.
5. Is this cover letter for I-130/I-485 only? No, you can use this cover letter sample for any other immigration forms, such as I-751, etc.
6. Where does the cover letter go in the packet? At the very top of all your applications, right after your payment.
7. Do you have to include beneficiary’s birth certificate under I-130 document list? No, it’s not necessary. Follow the form instructions

I needed something like this. I used this alongside an actual table of contents that outlines what item I had located where. Thank you so much for your videos!i I watched all of them and filled out my forms following your instructions and it really made things easy. I have two questions... I don't think i saw anything based on the form instructions, but is there any form of evidence (such as birth certificates, copy of passport, etc..) that would need to be submitted multiple times? (In other words, submitted as evidence for more than one document.) Also given the new filing instructions about not using hole punch, binder clips, sticky tabs, or insertable dividers, how would you recommend submitting all the forms neatly? I was thinking maybe just everything in a folder with a couple plastic bags on top for checks and passport photos. Any thoughts?
I like the old cover letter better. Very easy to navigate with exhibit clearly marked using post it
I never do cover do cover letters. The cashiers or officers don't read them. HOWEVER I DEFINITELY do them for RFE's. The best advice I can give is to send DUPLICATE copies of all documents. Too many times, USCIS officers asked for documents I know were already sent. Remember, send duplicates!!!

Hi, thank you for these videos Kseniya, they are so helpful. I just have a question about the way you organize both of your cover letter videos. You add the photos within the applications as needed, but in your other video of how to organize the whole file you put all the photos at the very beginning? which way should we be organizing it? If we do it like the cover letter here the pictures won't all be in the front...? HELP!
I think she means that the pictures are all in the front of each folder and remember to put your name at the back of each photo, so you will have at least 5 folders (i130, i485, i864, i765, i131) with the photos at the first page, that's what I did. No thats not necessary but uscis will not change your name for you on the paperwork. If you want it on your green card you have to change it beforehand

In your previous I-130 cover letter video, you had labeled the required froms inside the cover letter as "exhibits". However in this video, there are just empty checkboxes. So there is no need to label/number the forms/supporting documents anymore?
You can organize your cover letter however you want, whichever example you prefer :)
Do you need to send 2 photo pictures of the petitioner & 2 photos of the beneficiary for each file, or is the 4 photos for all the files sufficient ? Don't know if each file is viewed by different agents or one agent handles my whole filling files.
Do you know if you need to submit more photos than the 2? in the case for form I-765 and I-131 so in total will be 6 photos included the I-485?

I'm confused who the Sponsor could be because we have an Affidavit of Support from my spouse's family member instead of my spouse. Is it easier if I just changed Primary Applicant to Beneficiary/Applicant and Sponsor to Petitioner?

Hello, the petitioner must also fill out the affidavit of support so they will be the sponsor regardless. Even if you have a co-sponsor
@@KseniyaInternational What if the petitioner doesn't have any income? Her family member signs the I-864 Affidavit of Support form as joint sponsor? Or would the petitioner still file I-864, but state that they are unemployed, but have her family members sign I-864A?

Hi, she did write that answer in the comments at the top. In addition, the G form stated that it should be infront of all documents and I have read in other places that it needs to be at the front of all documents. So to answer your question, the G form comes first and next would be the Cover Letter.

Some video’s I’ve seen say you can send later if they request or bring to interview. You can definitely include in it in the package, this might be the better way

I just realized that I didn't include a copy of his passport and I-94 with I-131 and I-765, I did however attach a copies with I-485. Do you think they will reject it or are they able to use the copies with the other form? I am looking forward to your opinion as I am freaking out that it would delay the Advance Parole approval and we have travel plans. Thank you in advance.
I don't think it's that necessary, as long as you have included the copies with the main application

Am I reading this right? So, the total passport photos for the beneficiary are 6 (2 for each application) and 2 for the petitioner?
Is the date on there the date you did this cover letter or the date on the uscis paper ?
How did you physically package up everything? I know that you are NOT supposed to staple papers together as the USCIS will be scanning all of the documents. Do you put everything related to a specific form all together in the same envelop, or did you separate some stuff out like your passport photos and payments, and then put them together into separate envelops?
Also, what did you do when two forms require the same document as evidence? For example, a copy of the Petitioner's Birth Certificate is require by both the I-130 and the I-864. Did you include two copies?

@@neekschannels No. I never did get a response to my post, but how I organized our forms seems to have worked out well, as we didn't get any complaint notices from USCIS. Actually, within 5 weeks my wife got an appointment for her biometrics interview and then her EAD (Employment Approval) card a week later.
For my situation, I am a citizen and was applying for my wife and our non-resident daughter. I sent in 2 packets for each application; thus, I sent in a total of 4 packets in one big Priority Mail envelope.
For the 2 applications, I included: 1) a cover letter, which summarized the documentation contained in each packet, 2) a manilla evelope packet containing my application forms and payment, 3) a second manilla envelope packet containing support documentation (e.g., copies of passports, birth certs, etc.) I repeated this model for the second application. I included all support documentation even though some of it may have been included with the first application.

Yes except I-20 because thats only for people who are on a student status. Also bank account statements are optional if you’re not including your assets.

Ksenia, my husband does not know where je put his birth certificate. However, he does have copy of his passport and naturalization certificate as a proof of US Citizenship. Do you think if we do not have his birth certificate this will be an issue for form I 130?

You can only do one form electronically which is I-130. You’d still have to send the rest by mail.
You do not need a cover letter for electronic forms.
@@KseniyaInternational I thought the ds260 was also supposed to be done online? So then did you do all of your forms on paper and mail everything in with the cover letter? I'm sorry I just see people doing things in so many different ways I'm totally confused about how to even start the process.
@@maryjeant I see.. DD260 is online yes but it’s only for applicants outside USA. In that case, you won’t have to mail anything, most things will be done online through the CEAC portal with your local NVC.
