    Hey guys, John here with realtruck.com and I'm going to show you how to install the TruXedo TruXport Tonneau Cover on this 2016 Chevy. So we've got everything out of the box and you can see here that it comes complete with everything you need to put this on the truck, comes with of course your Tonneau cover itself, both your right and left side rails and bulkhead seal and this part is really kind of cool. These are seals that are going to go on the ends of your end caps here to help seal that up as well and it comes with your clamps to attach it. So let's get this on the truck. Before we get too carried away and start attaching our Tonneau cover to our truck, the first thing we're going to do is attach this bulkhead seal which they sent with it which is really cool. And the way you do that, is first of all make sure that everything is good and clean and then take like an alcohol prep pan and just rub it down just to get all that extra dirt and stuff that might still be on there, just a real quick clean here and make sure that this is dry before you start installing the seal which is very easy to do. 866-554-0581 Free shipping for orders over $100!

    Is the side rail supposed to click into place when you push it into the bulkhead bar? Mine keeps sliding out a little when I push the other rail in the other side. I just have the clamps finger-tightened for now. Thanks for the tip on the 1/8th inch test at the gate end, and the foam pieces at that end. It was getting dark when I did the initial install, so I deferred the final alignment and tightening for today. It aligned pretty good, but I want to double check. My installation was a little different due to the truck having a liner (so no bulkhead seal). Mine is also a 2016 Chevy Colorado z71.
    One other question: what is a good conditioner to use on the vinyl to keep it in good condition?

    Great video/review. Thanks for posting. I just purchased the Tuxedo for my 2016 F150 & im wondering if I can still install it with my already installed Bed-liner? Hope so, otherwise I gotta send it back or rip out the bed-liner. Grrr!

    • @Realtruck
      @Realtruck  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That depends on the bed liner. If it is a full drop in bed liner that is one piece over the rails this cover would not install. If the bed liner does not extend over the rails then you would be able to install the cover. On certain applications, you will need to cut the front bulkhead if the plastic liner is too rounded.

      RealTruck.com -- Thanks so much for the reply. I'm looking at the truck right now & see the Bed-liner does not go over the rails so I'm good on that end but I will def need to do something about the bulk-head but it shouldn't be that big a deal. Hey man. Thanks so much for the prompt response. I truly appreciate it. Enjoy your day bud.

    With a drop in bed liner would you still apply the weather strip at the head of the bed?

    • @Realtruck
      @Realtruck  7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Jeff,
      The only reason you would install the weather strip at the bulkhead is if your front bulkhead sits lower than the side rails. If there are flush around the bed then there is no need to install the seal.

    Hello, I purchased a truxedo for 2016 Silverado. I notice that when I'm on the high or just driving around town that the cover flaps a lot. Is that normal? Also I don't recall the person who installed it put a sealed around I'd like your doing in the video.

    • @Realtruck

      Jose Baez it could be either the bulkhead seal wasn't installed and it is allow air to get under it or the cover is not pulled tight enough from side to side. If you have any other questions about this you can call 877-216-5446

      yes,you just roll it up and attach the fifth wheel

    • @allan6021
      @allan6021 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just be aware that the Truxport sits completely on top of the bed rails and will be 1.5” above the bed rails which reduces clearance to the underside of the front overhang on the fifth wheel. Truxedo’s Pro X15 only sits 1/2” above the bed rails so you have an extra inch of vertical clearance if you need it.

If so just a tiny bit. I just put one on my new truck and again no problems with that. Maybe see if they will send some new clamps. Maybe something wrong with one or more of them.

    The Weathertech bed cover is very similar but a much lower profile. That Truxedo cover sits on top of box, covers that are flush or less than than an inch above the box look much cleaner. Pretty decent price though.

    • @Realtruck
      @Realtruck  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Mike,
      Everyone has their own preference to the profile of the cover. We sell covers that are 1/2 above the bed and others like the Truxport that sit 1 1/2 inches above the bed. Personally, for the price and automatic tension that you get with this cover, it easily beats the Weathertech. The WeatherTech cover is actually a private label Access cover, which are great but the price is almost double.

    • @Holgrinator
      @Holgrinator ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I get this is an old post but the low profile covers have a support to hold the cross rails that stick into your bed 2-3”. They look good but they take up bed space and can be easily damaged f using your bed a lot for truck stuff. Putting it on top of the bed rails solves that issue
