  • This week we take a look at the Truxport Tonneau pickup truck bed cover by Truxedo.
    Check out the Truxedo Line here - amzn.to/2Hu9cak
    We have owned our Truxedo Tonneau cover for over 3 years and have been very satisfied. It keeps the bed of the truck dry when it rains and helps keep dust and dirt out of it. We also like that it covers what is in the bed of the truck to keep sun off it and keep people from seeing what is in there. We would not consider this a security device as you could easily cut into it. This unit does sit on top of the bed rails so you lose some clearance (about 1.5 inches) over your bed if you are towing a fifth wheel trailer. Having the rails on the bed also makes it harder to step or sit on the side of the bed if neeeded. Ovearll we have been very happy with the product and would recommend it as a basic bed cover for any truck.

    My favorite part of this review is that you've used it for 3 years before giving an opinion! so many people pull it right out of the box and say its great without testing long term. Thank you!!
    Follow up, I ended up buying this cover after watching the review, so far it’s very nice

    I have the same tonneau cover and I've had no problems even with a couple feet of snow piled up on it. I do sweep it off before driving but it's easier than shoveling out the bed. There has only been one time that I had to remove the side rails when backing up our 5th wheel. It was a very steep driveway and ended up dropping the pin box on the trailer to get it in.
    Thanks for the review!

    Awesome! We're looking at a tonneau cover for our RVing truck. I think it will be handy when it rains at camp. Easy to hide our chairs and bbq until the rain clears. Thanks for the video. 👍👍

    If you are concerned about clearance issues, there is a Truxedo LoPro QT model that sits flush with the bed rails.

    Thank you for providing a description of the clamps and their depth into the interior dimensions of the bed. I'm looking to purchase a tonneau cover and getting information concerning interior dimensions into the bed is challenging to say the least. I have an auxiliary fuel tank/tool box mounted in the bed that is approx 1/2" lower than top of the bedrails and I only have about 3 1/2" of clearance between the fuel tank and the inside of the bedrails. I can only accommodate a cover that sits on top of the bedrails and prefer less than 3" of protrusion into the interior dimensions of the bed so I don't have interference issues with my aux tank.... Hope that makes sense but based upon your review, this cover is the one I need. Thank you for the excellent review. Even the manufacturers are challenged to provide this kind of a description.....!

    Just installed this on my 2021 Ford Ranger yesterday. Not as easy as they say....It took me several iterations of clamp placements to get everything centered and working. But I'm quite pleased with the final product....both appearance and function wise. Haven't driven it yet with the cover, but I'm told it actually improves gas mileage. That will be welcome.

    Thanks for the video. It is great to see a three year review as opposed to a review of an almost new product. If you still have the cover, you have had it for six years now. Would you still recommend the Truxport? Thanks in advance for your consideration of my question.

    2 questions: does debris get into Velcro requiring it to be cleaned out periodically? And can you have it partially rolled up so items next to back of cab can be covered while towing my 5 th wheel?

    • @MortonsontheMove
      @MortonsontheMove 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      We have never had problems with the debris getting into the Velcro. Unfortunately you cannot have it partially rolled up while driving. We will sometimes leave it partially closed while parked overnight but not while towing.

    You have the same anderson hitch that i do. Do you find it hard to see the ball when the cover is rolled up and you're backing up to hitch up? I had to get a tool box that sits bellow the lip of the box cause the one that came with it when i bought it, sat above the box and i couldnt see the ball when i was hitching up so that had to go. just dont want the rolled up cover to be too tall that i cant see the ball. Thanks

    • @MortonsontheMove
      @MortonsontheMove 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Damien in our truck we can see the ball of the hitch easily with the cover rolled up. I have the ball in the lowest position. I think ford and gm trucks may have different viewing angles tho.

    Has anyone else had issue with the Velcro letting go in the wind? The used f150 I bought came with a Truxport and I loved it. Unfortunately, running to town in a real bad windstorm with 55 mph gusts, the Velcro wouldn’t hold and let go and I had to eventually cut the tonneau cover right off to even get home. Judging from the cracks in the material, I’d say the cover was about 6 years old (same as truck) Considering the truck was in southeast Alberta, Canada all its life, I feel it held up well to the 100 degree baking summers, freezing winters and relentless desert winds. So, it may have been due to the age and rougher life. I’d like to buy the same one again, as I really liked it and assume it only let go because it was older. But, had anyone else have this issue?

      Bought mine in 2013. I have had it on a F150, 2013 model 2016 model and now on my 2018 F150. It is doing the same thing because of age. I am buying a new one this week. I love this cover.

    Not a comment, but a question. Has anyone installed this cover with factory "SPRAY-IN" Berliner. Does that front bulkhead with the rough surface make it tough for the adhesive to stick? Please reply if you know the answer.. Thank you
