In Tekking's chapter review he mentioned previously theorizing (months ago) that one of them was a traitor and he narrowed it down to Raizo and Kanjuro.

i think its possible that kanjuro met orochi after joining up with oden, he may have been keeping his name a secret before then and then realized orochi was also a kurozumi so they started to work together
Being fair Luffy stumbled upon his crew in equally silly ways. Robin literally hid on the Merry then told them she was joining once she got caught, after trying to kill them for a few weeks

@@brandonwithnell612 Yeah as far as I'm aware, Kanjuro just wanted to die and was open with that when he met Oden. That's when Orochi preyed on this information and offered him a way to die.

Fun fact, in kabuki theatre, artists are commonly depicted as a traitors. Considering that Wano is structured like one, it´s a neat little reference from Oda.
Possible reference to Yamada Emosaku, a painter / informant for the Tokugawa shogunate, & a traitor to the Japanese Christians during the Shimabara Rebellion.

I love how Oda is able to make us all understand what turned people into villains or traitors. From Buggy all the way up to Orochi.

I always viewed Buggy as a person who missed every golden opportunity. I mean if you shunned every single possible outward boon it would leave you a bitter shel grumbling over what could have been.
And I honestly don't like buggy that much, but the point is I understand him. And that is what Oda is great at. You can understand what drove them to that point even if you don't condone their actions.

I didn't think that it was Kanjuro, Even when i was reading the chapter i thought it was KIKU due to Orochi's emphasis on the traitor being a "HIM". Good twist from ODA!
I never thought about it either, I mean I heard rumors it was kanjuro, and the more I thought about it, he was always the quiet one who didnt do much in the background, and the first time we saw him I thought he looked weird for a samurai, and his devil fruit ability didnt suit him since he sucked at drawing, but this chapter just proved how good an actor he was, and his true colors fully shown 5 years after his introduction. Hope he sinks I'm the sea next chapter
I thought it was kanjuro but based off of 2 reasons. 1. He just happened to be the one who had easy “prison time” while drawing a PERFECT wall, but can’t draw a ladder? And 2. He was the only one who had the ability to send messages across the sea

Tekking, as a manga reader that reads the chapter as soon as it comes out and has never been spoiled, you gotta be more aware of having titles/thumbnails like this.
Any manga reader who hasn't read it the day it comes out on the official app and EVERY anime only will be spoiled. Especially for such an easy fix like this. Just have the title be: "The Traitor's Identity" and for the thumbnail, have all the scabbards (or just a bunch of wano characters) with a question mark near them.

Why would Kanjuro draw crappy birds when they arrive into the future instead of realistic ones? Wouldn’t crappy birds flying to Orochi’s castle be suspicious?
Crappy bird is more believeable , if somehow kinemon notice , he can say "i just trying to send message to our allies/trying to scout things"
Keep in mind he’s also subtilely trying to sabotage them, so it’d be weird to see him draw really well that one time. They’d be like, “Why don’t you do more of that to help us Kanjuro?”
Ok but actually think about it, he draws really realistic ones when he’s away from the squad so no one is suspicious of a bird flying off and draw really bad ones when he’s in front of them so that he’s “trying” to help the squad
The whole main family thing reminds me of the Hyuga clan’s setup. Also Tekking the whole dominate hand thing could be just him using his left to help keep the brush steady

I always thought it was kanjuro because when usopp meets him in the streets, he tells him to cover up more, as he barely wears a disguise(when he's selling fish).
But kanjuro isnt afraid of getting caught because hes on their side anyway..
Also because he was the character that they gave the least story, up to this point

Well i honestly don't think, that anyone will kill Kanjuro during this arc because of his potential future role to Wano.
I mean, I am no psychologist, but Oda made it pretty clear, that Kanjuro was traumatised in a way, that he completely rejected his own personality. He is always playing a role, like said in the chapter: "the perfect actor", in order to protect himself from himself/his past as Kurozumi. This is somewhat similar to Kawamatsu, he also does pretend to be someone else (a Kappa) in order to hide that he is a fishman.
At the end I think we could have a moment with Kanjuro similar to the moment we had with Robin during Enies Lobby and he finally shows his true self.
His role, after the battle, would be to proof to Momonosuke that not all Kurozumis are bad people and to empower Momonosuke to break throug that cycle of hatred between the Kozukis and the Kurozumis.
In fact Oda is kind of nice with the Korozumis. Usually, in feodal Japan, the whole family of a traitor should do Seppuku to avoid the shame of having a traitor among their relatives.

I don't really see Kanjuro's speech about holding no animosity toward or desire to hurt the scabbards as trying to absolve himself of responsibility, but rather a statement of his complete and total apathy toward everything. He didn't hate them, he just didn't care about them. He didn't really want to hurt them, he just doesn't care if he did. Like Orochi said, he lost all sense of "self" and only cared about, only found pleasure in life from fulfilling the role he was given to act out. Even now, I believe his actions are just him playing up the role of a villain for dramatic effect, and he isn't actually emotionally invested in it, because he isn't emotionally invested in ANYTHING for the most part.
Every Kurozumi we’ve seen so far has turned into an a-hole. Maybe genocide wasn’t the problem. Doing a crappie job at genocide was the mistake.
The reason he turned into one because the country killed his family for being related to an asshole. Remember his parents were killed in front of him. He didn't deserve that as much as Ace didn't deserve it because he was Roger's son. He was made into an unfeeling monster.

Actually In the manga, the backstories usually don't change the characters mindsets but rather push them forward.
I think kanjuro is still good just because mangakas like to do double twists, so for this case I think he’ll ultimately betray orochi for the simple reason that he found a reason to live throughout his time with oden and the scabbards, maybe by next chapter he’ll say that I’m actually good, I just needed kaidos crew to see and hear that I just “betrayed” the scabbards, also to maintain the image that he is still on orochi’s side. Or I’m just reaching which I’m ok with.

So something has occurred to me. Orochi has 8 heads. The Nine Red Scabbards are now minus one.
Orochi's main head needs to be cut too. My belief is that Shinobu will become the 9th scabbard. Oda as we know from hindsight and due to recent developments had planned on making him the traitor. So that's probably one of the reasons he set her up to be apart of Oden's Scabbards at during the chase scene a couple chapters ago. With her asking Kinemon for permission to join. Plus this adds to the parallels to Luffy's crew: two women.
