Praying for this young man. Yellowstone is beautiful but rugged, and not all that hard to get lost or hurt. Praying he's found alive in the next few days
Never hike alone, especially without emergency beacon or enough experience. Don’t push your body beyond what it can handle. Honor your family and those who love you.
I worked and hiked in Glacier, Yellowstone, Grand Canyon and other parks, solo, never had an issue with wildlife or the Parks. Just be smart, leave your headphones at home along with your drugs. People really need to take a course before they are allowed to venture out into the Parks solo and NPS is doing a poor job enforcing what they need to take with them.
I hike alone in a small park only a few thousand acres. The only couple state parks close to me in Illinois are small. But people in these huge parks are definitely taking a risk.
I am praying for you for Austin, Brian, his family and SAR teams. God bless those good people from Cody, WY who are assisting in finding Austin and helping to make his searching family comfortable.
I have been there and the wilderness is vast and I am prayerful this man is found but winter is now beginning. Please don’t give up if drones can be utilized! I lived in WY 8 years and know that even seasoned hikers as residents get lost . God Bless You!
@@Perch_Master_Nick Please don’t go alone anyway. At least get a “personal transponder”. Have you ever heard of Missing 411 or David Paulides ? He’s very informative.
You’re right. I listen to David Paulides videos and among many other things, he’s pointed out that just by accidentally breaking your leg out somewhere alone you’d likely be screwed.
I have two kiddos about the same age as Austin. His dad saying “dad’s coming for you”, just broke me. Any parent that loves their child and their children’s friends will feel this to the core. I’ll continue hoping and praying that Austin is recovered safely. 💔💔💔
The best of all of us is shining bright here as a whole community came together to help and hopefully find this young inspirational man who followed his dreams to reach a mountain top.
😢. Dad - keep saying exactly those words - you as parent have a connection down to very cellular levels no one else has. He is staying put someplace, 1st is shelter, 2nd is water, 3rd is food. Look along those lines.
i have worked in yellowstone for 4 years straight. I know the park well.I too worked for xanterra parks and resorts. I use to see kids come in there and try to hike the biggest peaks and most dangerous hikes just to show off!! Some kids make it fine, while others don't. I use to see kids come in there and it's there first time away from home and they run wild!! No mama and daddy around. they would not clean up there rooms, they was under age drinking and partying all the time. College kids gone wild. these kids need to be more careful out there and do hikes that are not as dangerous. i too have done peaks out there. But idid not go crazy with it like this kid did!! I hate to say it, but this kid was under prepared and put him self out there. He should have never attempted this kind of hike a lone!! I feel for the family!! And i truly hope they find this kid alive!! but the reports say its a recovery now. Either way i hope they find this kid. These kinds of things happen all the time in the parks!!
If this guy was free soloing cliffs to climb this peak, as his letter claims, no rescuer is going to go that route to find the body. Very sad, and avoidable.
Yeah, the odds of finding him alive is very, very low and in one piece either from a fall, hypothermia or from predation. Man, you really need expert skills to summit a place as remote and loaded with apex predators, as Yellowstone😮. - When the snow hits it is game over and if he died , then a bear will find him when the snows clear in 2025 and good luck finding his remains then.
@@peterdisbury It'll be obvious, bears and other Predator make a mess, they don't haul off the whole body, leave no trace. They tear up clothes and go for the butt or guts first. They wont eat a shoe for instance.
I wish I did not live a couple thousand miles away. I would most definitely put in some time to help. I am hoping for a good outcome and at the very least closer.
If you hike solo, do not rely on your smartphone. Carry a map and compass, and know how to use them. I've solo tripped in the Canadian back country by canoe and on foot, for weeks at a time. The key is knowledge.
To experience nature, adventure, peace, medication, spiritual, numerous reasons that people go into the wilderness alone. Not being rude but there's a lot of us who don't understand how anyone can walk in a city alone. The wilderness doesn't scare us. The cities do.
@@funshine817 hmm no respect for nature? True some don't respect nature. But don't make a judgement about someone you've never met and know nothing about.
Your statistically more likely to die on the highway at a gas station or even in Walmart. More people slip in the shower and die does that mean we shouldn't shower?

Stay on that! Crazy people. Too many disappearring via mental illness. Find out who the dr and hospitals associates are which dr friend needs the money or pills in their portfolio.
It’s so easy to get off onto the wrong trail in Yellowstone, or any park that big. I think they should start renting out those sat beacons just like they rent out the bear spray in the parks because not everyone can afford the cost of the device and subscription but they should be part of everyone’s safety gear, especially when hiking alone.
Saint Anthony, Saint Anthony look around, look around Austin is lost and can not be found. Find him now for his family and friends, please save his life, bring him back safe. Jesus I trust in You, Jesus we Trust in You, Lord expose the truth. Amen
It's not strange. It's a vast, vast area. They'll be lucky to find him. It's like a needle in a haystack. He was not prepared, and probably very inexperienced. Sad he didn't stop and go back when the weather turned unbearable.
