Your so right I had a 88 Quad Racer 250 and my buddy had the T4 and the Suzuki handled much better. He sold his T4 and got a Suzuki. I agree the T4 was the best looker. Jacks a good kid and lucky to have a awesome dad. Make those good memories and thanks.
Congrats on another mean looking super-rare 2-stroke! After you get a TRX250R, you will own a very nice representative of every single classic 2-stroke ATV ever made. I like how you keep all of your classics looking original and still ride them.
@@TheMapleDude1 Agreed. Whenever I look for classic ATVs or cars/trucks, I want them as original looking as possible. I guess you could always get an extra machine just to modify. Thanks for keeping them alive as we remember them!
I've got an 88 T4. I agree with your assessment of the stock machine, weird front end, too tall, etc. I've made a few mods to mine to make it better, extended axle, 300 big bore, bigger carb, aftermarket pipe. My next mod is wider a-arms. She rips now and it's much more stable. I love vintage machines despite their flaws. Part of the fun is fixing them up.
@@jamesbolton2463 I haven't bought them yet--still trying to decide. Only 2 companies I know of still makes them. HREatv makes them closer to the gullwing design of the 88, but they also do straight like the 87. And Full Flight also makes them straight like the 87.
T4's seemed to be better for larger framed riders. Back in 86, 87, 88, and 89, a friend and I raced MX and XC for a local Honda/Kawi dealership, I got the 250R and he got the T4. Both were great machines but the T4 needed more mods to be competitive. He was a larger rider (mostly taller) and said he always felt "cramped" riding my 250R. When I rode his T4, I always felt like I sat higher and was top heavy. Sure made for some great memories to reflect on nowadays especially running the Blackwater 100.
I had a white 88 t4 back in the day. Man,do i miss it. Really screwed up selling that one. Id trade my two kx500s for one in a second! Hope mine it still out there somewhere being ridden and cared for
Awesome tecate i had one bored 30 over ran like scalded dog fastest i ever owned powerband 6 speed was a beast also had keihin flatside carb best friend had blaster couldn't get close I left him in a heartbeat and I put elka shocks on front helped handling was rough on clutch plates though
Nice vid,i have a 88 in Northern wi,extended rear axle and wider a-arns make a big difference, the Klemms pipe is rare these days and brings in big bucks!
Holy crap! you find all the rare gems, Incredible machine,
Thanks... it takes a lot of looking.

Totally agree... it's a weird machine.

thanks Cobra, at this point I don't think it makes much sense to modify them. They just aren't worth as much that way!

My dad has a banshee and a Tecate 4
@@cheeriosc420YT Very cool and arguably the two most aggressive-looking quads. They are great investments that will only go up in value.
I love places like that for food near the trails they know you're starving
For sure!

Yeah it's strange they even approved the design for production. But yet it's still a cool machine.
What kind of a-arms you using?

What a sweet looking quad!!! That flip up head light screams 80s!!!
Yeah it sure does.

I agree I feel cramped on the 250r, it seems like it's made for someone like 5ft 8in.
But tecate just really unstable.
Nice t4! 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Those trails are better than our rds here
Really?
The Mug has great food. Love it there. Good to see the Tecate still hitting the trails. I wish I still had mine.
Where you from?
Marshfield.
@@sjklahn nice what machines do you have now?
Notta. Had I kept all mine the machine I'd have would be a power scooter lol.
I like the look of them to
One of the best looking 4 wheelers.
Fun one guys! I like the food addition.
Thanks man.

I like that white color!
@TheMapleDude1 Me too...but I ALSO love that kawasaki team green!!🟩
Not bad for a little 250
Nope
I love that bridge bet i would clear it on my ktm 530
Go for it.

Thanks for watching. But they handle like crap.
Do miss it lots of fun they are expensive to keep up especially clutch plates

Nice. I'll probably leave this stock outside of the exhaust cause oem is hard to find these days.
There's another guy on TH-cam that builds and dyno's tecate engines that talks about the klemm pipes
Add a steering stabilizer to fix the bump steer.
You know where I can get one for this machine?
@@TheMapleDude1 I'll look into it
U can get a arms and axl to make it wider
I know, but I have quite a few machines and they don't get ridden frequently... plus these are worth more now in original condition.
I just bought one in pretty rough shape for 500, is it worth it?
500 is ok. But it'll take a lot of money to restore it.
