The best place in England to ride a gravel bike

  • I grew up in the Peak District and love going back to back to explore the High Peak and White Peak, the areas near Castleton, Hathersage and Peak Forest. On this ride I head up the old, disused Mam Tor road then ride the incredible trails and gravel lanes of the Pennine Bridleway and the Limestone Way before descending Winnat's pass. I think I came up with one of the best routes in the Peak District to add to my collection of favourites.

I live in the Dallas TX area and have a good friend, James, who lives in Seaford. Almost every year I head over and James takes me to a different part of England each year for some road riding. About 4 years ago we spent nearly a week in the Peak District (followed by nearly a week in the Yorkshire Moors). This video brings back such good memories and some of it even looks familiar. The Peak District is one of my all time favorites in England, along with Dartmoor National Park! Awesome riding in many parts of England that most tourists don't get to see on a bike! Thanks for your great videos and the sunniest disposition!!

As a kid age 13 (1976) I used to ride with Stretford Wheelers every Sunday . We went to watch Hill Climb champs few times .. I remember on Sunday we rode up Winnats Pass. From then on I respected the skinny climber's in our club ! Only found this channel today and I LOVE it !

Watched this about half a dozen times now, I want to give it another thumbs-up! Super area, love the descent of Winnats. Done the broken road a couple of time s in the opposite direction but on MTB's. Great video, might have to watch it again! 👍🙂🚴

Castleton is a great place. The views from the top of Mam Tor are absolutely fantastic. Cycling up Winnats Pass would be my idea of hell... it's bloody steep and goes on forever! I've not cycled round there, but I've done hundreds of walks in the Peak District, including Castleton, and Winnats is awe inspiring to look at, but not to walk up. 😁 Nice video.
