Harbor Freight 1-1/4 Cubic Ft. Cement Mixer. Assembly and Overview. Is this big enough?

- The largest part of the garage repairs I am doing involves putting in a cement floor. I'm getting to old to use the wheelbarrow style of mixing bag after bag, so I picked this up. I am happy to say that it works great and 188 bags later, the floor is done!

I was shorted 2 m8’s for bolting the motor on, had to run to depot.
Thank you for the video, i already had 2 hrs in building in before thinking to TH-cam 😂
Glad I could help, There have been many things that I have struggled with and then was like, oh let me see what YT says.
at 5 min in I noticed you flipped the bottom part around so the motor would be on the wheel side, this thing is a bit of a struggle to assemble but I got her lol
never did figure out where the alan bolt goes though
Me either! I still have it, but 600 bags later, apparently it's not needed.
You are correct! Good thing I wasn't too deep into it at that point.
I bought mine over 2 years ago. The gasket was a small pain to fit properly. It is a little workhorse. Great for small jobs around my property. Just be patient and mix one bag at a time. I knew someone that try to mix 2 bags at a time and eventually burned out the electric motor. lol. It is a great little mixer. Enjoy your new toy. 😊
80lb bag?
Came missing hardware for me.
Bummer. I'd call the HF 1-800 number. They are pretty good at looking after people.
Great video. I had to chuckle when I saw your thumbnail. I've had one of these for almost 20yrs. I think I got it back then for just over $60 with one of their discount coupons. I knew it was a decent piece of equipment for the price to own and use for smaller jobs. Back then I poured a 10' wide 5 step staircase in front of my house. This spring I just poured a small 3' x 4' ramp to the side door of my garage.
It is worth it's weight in gold! I am so happy with how it worked on my project.
Thanks for posting this one. I was waiting for it!! Love Harbor Freight stuff. Hoping it work well.
Where does the Allen head bolt go to that came with the handle and the coil spring?
I wondered the same thing! Turns out it's an extra for inside the motor area.
In the large pulley shaft. I figured it out after I was done and had used a hex bolt.
Nice! I have no doubts she'll get the job done. I hope you get some footage loading and running her. I bought the big version and ran 6000lbs of quikcrete through it, one 80lb bag at a time. I should have went with 40 or 50 lb bags and ran two at a time. She really hurt running two 80lbs bags, but did ok with one and a half 80 lb bag. The wind was blowing steady so we stuck to one 80lb bag at a time. 12' x 16' x 4" pad for a storage building. It turned out OK for a rush job. I'm going to be doing an additional lean-too this fall, 8' x 16' x 4" and enclose it.
Nice my friend, thanks for sharing, hey did you make 2nd part and how did it turn out when you used it?
There are some videos on the garage build with it, we used it to do 2.5 pallets of bag concrete with ease. I wish I had this years ago, my back agrees
He Eric ,,
Could you do a basic CB training video for emergency grid down situation for family and friends.
How these airwaves are uncensored and independent of the Cellular grid.
The best mobile house to car system
I have one of my Cobra 29 WX sound tracker mounted on a piece of plywood with both alligator clips and cigarette plug.
In house it has a small 12 v. Car battery on a trickle charger or solar power with a magnetic antenna out the window.
It unplug in less than 30 seconds and can be moved to any vehicle or ATV.
The importance of having your neighbors equipped and a weekend Sunday night call in.
The better we are connected and basic scenarios training the better the outcome.
We use to do fire drills in school
If everyone in the home can get on, key up, hit the channel 9 and 19 and communicate professionally during emergencies there is a great peace of mind in this forgotten technology
Thanks Mike
MPX Towing
I'll see what I can do!
@@FarpointFarms every time i get in the tow truck I flick on the CB and do a Radio check, call sign and location on 19
Radio Check MPX Towing coming at you from 284th street and Hiway 1, on air, come back !?
9 out of 10 times I get nothing
1 out of 10 times I'll get skip or a come back
The only reason CB is empty is need and effort.
Remember, every Big Rig out there from coast to coast has a CB that will transmit 5 miles , CB for CD - Citizens Band for Civil Defence. THE PEOPLES RADIO !
I guess I'm in the emergency business and am use to coming to the rescue.
I'm also a dinosaur (58) and remember how powerful CB can be from back in the 70-80s ,,,,
When I got my first car in high school (68Dart) I stuck my Realistic 23 Ch CB in and hit the next level of cool
My buddies with a Nova, Chevelle and F150 followed suite.
We always knew where the parties and the cops were.
Others would pull up beside us and ask what was going on because we were connected and on patrol !!
We had communications long before cell
And crusing through the drive in was always time to mic in, infront of the rest with the spring loaded whip snapping over the speed bumps.
You got noticed !
The only thing cooler was Burt Reynolds in his Firechicken and Frank Cannon in his Mark 5 with his car phone !!
Always good videos from Eric! Good luck with your big project!
Great video wanted to ask u how bigs ur two stall garage like what’s the overall size and length of your two car garage and what do u use for heat and air conditioning out in the shop
Thanks for the video. I assembled it before I watched this. I had a bunch of washers and a random Allen key bolt left over for whatever reason. Also mine sounds exactly the same.
I had the Allen key bolt left over too. Anyone know what it's for?
I'm in the same boat 🤣
I looked this how-to up because I couldn' figure out how the mixer blades go in. I finally got them in with some muscle and bending, but the pointed end goes UP, not down.
thanks for that- I hope you like your as much as I do mine. I have a big summer project planned for it
Thanks for this video ! I looked at a couple of those mixers at the HF in Lincolnton NC , thinking about repairs and upgrades at my shop Good info !
You bet!
One of the hardest thing I’ve ever put together. No need to look at the directions because they tell you nothing , didn’t give me enough hardware so I had to go to tractor supply to get the hardware they didn’t give me , but it not and easy job .. good luck it seem to run find ..
Sorry to hear that. Well, At least in the end it works well! I used the heck out of this one last year and it held up great.
Where does the damn Allen screw go!!! 🤣
I never figured that one out so it's sitting in my tool box. 275 bags later I can confirm that it isn't needed.
Lol it just plugged the hole where the handle goes
In the large pulley shaft.
@@snchildersthe black hex bolt is one size too big for the pully
lol at 4:46 the handle is on the side of the wheels and at 4:58 it’s on the other side. Why don’t you mention your mistake? If I hadn’t caught it, I might have been frustrated at having to undue my work.
Sorry. I guess I thought it was pretty evident from the video. I noticed the mistake while the camera was off.
Same here. The directions are useless and watching someone make video with mistakes and not explaining them is not really helpful. I should have watched a 3.5 capacity build as they are numerous.
Hi Eric
I'm shopping to upgrade my shortwave
I like your DX 302 as I have Realistic Pro 2004 scanner and several CBS and Talkies.
I see the Drakes are in the $2k range
I came across a Sony CRF V21 for $12,500 !?
Could you describe the $12,000.00 advantages over the DX 302
Thanks Mike
Bragging rights? Seriously, there are a great many Shortwave radios out there that will work as well as those for a fraction of the price. The Radio Shack DX394 is my new favorite, but for a new radio will every bell and whistle, look at the Eton 750 elite. great radio!
Nice build!
Thanks!
Hello from Taylorsville NC 👋
I just opened mine for the first time after buying it two years ago pretty sure I don't have the receipt and I bought it cash without a Harbor Freight membership so I'm pretty sure they're not not gonna remember me and I'm missing 20% of the parts that are supposed to hold it up like I have the wheels but I don't have that looking thing bracket that holds the whole thing up and the other kickstand looking thing 😪 I basically have the top half and the motor and that's it 😂 anybody need brand new spare parts ???
I think you are right about them not taking it back- It is a shame that you only have some but not all
Now let the fun begin..Or is that be work?
Thanks for sharing!
thanks for the views!
You should have a bi-weekly segment called "Building Stuff with Eric"!
Always enjoyable to see what you are doing next in "God's Country"...
So glad to see that your back is "allowing" you to be more mobile!
Please tell us that you have an "Able-bodied Individual" to assist you with this Massive Concrete Pouring Job...
Massive because of it's limited access and the SQFTage of the pour.
Thank you good to know 👍
It will never look that clean again 😉 , perhaps the size is to protect your back, there's a lot 'crete going to be mixed.
I'll be follow the project.
Mini molen.
I'm just gonna say, this video sucks on knowing what hardware to use in what spots
Sorry to hear you say that. What did I miss here? I thought I covered the assembly entirely.
The manual isn't helpful to identify which screws/bolts/washers are which. Hopefully it doesn't matter too much because I ended up with a lot of random hardware that didn't fit by the time I was attaching the motor and had to make do with what I had in my shop. Your video helped me a lot, but I was lost with the screws and washers.
