Yes,yes, yes. The hotel and food looks amazing. I have also never eaten a scallop so your mate Cameron is not alone. The airport looks an experience by itself. Do you fly there via Guernsey? 🇯🇪
Oh this made me well up, watching from 12000 miles away in Aotearoa New Zealand. Spent much of my life on that wonderful island, met lifelong friends and made the best memories. There's nowhere else like it.
Oh my.....you grew up there? Wonderful. I have a playlist called dreams and Alderney is at the top now. I just watched your Antigua video and imagine the waters around your island are much colder than those in the Caribbean. I can remember the waters off the coast of Massachusetts, where I grew up, were so cold I would get "brain freeze" standing ankle deep. Thank you for sharing! I hope 2025 brings you great adventures and exotic, exciting foods.
I sure did! haha, they are certainly colder waters in Alderney but it isn't so bad in the summer when it has had a chance to warm up a bit. Still, it is stunning! I hope you manage to visit one day.
Wow! Brought back great memories of my times visiting Alderney. Your presentation was amazing, flowing and informative. More videos expanding on the history of the island and it's inhabitants would be great.
all good thank you! haha you go way back then! Hopefully you can see some sort of improvement in the videos haha. Excellent news about you going back! You are going to have an amazing time, again!
I've never had a scallop before either lol! The bedroom of the Blue Hedgehog hotel looked beautiful! You hail from a beautiful part of the world...much nicer than boring Chorley (near to Preston) lol! Yes, one day I'd love to visit Alderney.
This is brilliant, thank you! I'm considering relocating to Alderney, so videos like this are hugely helpful. I can believe that your friend (who also does great videos!!) may not have tried scallops before, but TOMATOES???! I think he's pulling our legs :-)
That is exciting, hopefully it helped make your decision. haha if only he was pulling my leg, but sadly not! I couldn't believe it either, but it was true.
Thank you Lisa, glad you enjoyed it. I felt the pressure of making a video on Alderney. Hope it can inspire at least one more person to visit. I think we need to be showcasing it more and more like this. It can be very powerful
Nice job Joe! Miss the sound of that proper fog horn. 28:14 - th-cam.com/video/FBdrWrw3x7o/w-d-xo.htmlsi=fpHP4Btl-aCtijZT Hope you enjoy 😊 p.s. great cameo from Cam!
That was gorgeous Joe, the sound track and views. Many thanks for sharing with us. Have to say it, sorry.. your friend, never tasted a tomato, what the.. I had sea bass in a New Forest pub Christmas Eve, good choice, yours looked special. Happy Christmas and wishing you a Healthy New Year. Ouch, kidney stones, you poor man. Tc
I am pleased to hear that you enjoyed it. But I agree with the what the... all legit and genuine haha, unbelievable really! Merry Christmas to you too.
Well, I can tell you really did grow up on Alderney, because you called Town by its proper name ("Town" or "La Ville" in the old Aurigniais) and not, as those from Guernsey and England so often do, referring to it as "St Annes". The parish of St Anne covers ALL the island, including Newtown, Braye, Crabby etc, not just Town. ("St ANNES" is in Lancashire, not the Channel Islands).
Has the video made you want to visit Alderney?

@@sueg2470 You can fly from Manchester, Gatwick, London City, Bristol etc via Guernsey or you can go direct from Southampton
@@hungrytoexploreSouthampton is the direct route from the UK but there are routes from Guernsey too 👍
Absolutely love the Island, not been back to visit for a few years. (Your Dad is my cousin. I left the island before you were born!)
Great video!
I’m working over there soon and I wonder how it works for drone flights (sub 250g) and ATC permissions. Great video, you had a privileged childhood!
From Australia. “ The Wombles of Wimbledon Common are we”. Awesome.
hahaha you got it!!
@neilandsuzannetravels Elisabeth Beresford, the author of the Wombles books, lived the last years of her life in Alderney.

Could you not have filmed the airport and got your dad to cameo 😂 great video 👌🏻
Haha he was hiding in the back, he’s camera shy
Beautiful beaches! Would love to learn how/why your family settled there.
Stunning, right? My dad was born there and my mum was visiting on holiday and met him!
Love this video, great historic knowledge and I love that there are Wombles on the island 😂
Thanks Bonnie! It is a cool place to visit and so many people have never heard of it
Such a serene place to grow up
haha yeah, for kids, it is amazing!
Amazing promotion of the Island, if only there was a videographer to showcase the island more 😢
Thank you! Sadly I don't come home often these days or I would film more.
Great content 10/10 would subscribe again
hahah thank you!
i think ALderney is still the most fortified island on the planet
that is most probably true!
