  • Ximending (西門町) is a shopping district in Taipei, Taiwan. It is often known as the "Harajuku of Taipei" and the "Shibuya of Taipei". Ximending is the source of Taiwan's fashion, subculture, and Japanese culture. Ximending has a host of clubs and pubs in the surrounding area. The well-known Ximending Pedestrian Area was the first pedestrian area built in Taipei and is the largest in Taiwan. Ximending is also home to a number of historical landmarks, including the Red House, which is a center of local arts & crafts and Taipei's largest LGBT district. To experience Ximen at it's busiest, visit at night time on a Friday or Saturday. To get here, take the MRT to Ximen Station and follow the signs at the station, to Ximen Pedestrian Area Exit 6.

I graduated from an American school in Taipei in the mid-70's. Though my original campus doesn't exist now, I intend on going back soon after I retire and explore my old haunts.
Google Street Views show that where I lived no longer exists now but intend to indulge in the advancement in the infrastructure since I was there decades ago.
The "street view" and your video presentation is making me ancious to take this trip.
    Thanks.

Hi Chris. Great walking tour. Such a wonderful place with the look of the new and the old nostalgic feeling.. I would have a blast exploring the food options here. Always love it when you do these street food stalls videos. Thanks for sharing and take care.

    Chris, a funny story:
We were driving from Irvine to Las Vegas today. My wife sees this yellow car and says "who would buy a yellow car?" I say "I think I know someone." 😂😂

Love the street food stall tours or just food tours in general. I want to know what kinds of different unique foods they have around the world.

It does remind me a bit of Shibuya for the avenues and alleys. Can't wait to go for myself for real life comparison. Thanks for posting!

Great video, I'm planning on visiting Taipei this year and your videos have made me much more confident as a solo traveller! It would be so cool if you did a video on how much things cost in Taipei (restaurants, street food, travelling, convenience stores, souvenirs etc)
