These grids are found at Walmart, and come in a pack of 12 each (so I bought 2 packs!) they are around $20 each pack I think. You also don't need to use the connectors I know there is other options but that's what I used. My grid packs also came with 2 different sized grids, one with very large holes and ones with very small holes so since Bugs can fit through the large ones I arranged it so that the big grids went to the back and top :)

Just an FYI for somebody that is building this cage, you only have to do one row against the wall, not two which saves a lot of panels to make the cage bigger! I made mine against a corner and was able to make it 4x4 with 24 panels!

it’s good to start research early! you get to find out more information in time that way, and the chances of you doing any mistakes becomes very low and ensures that your bunny will have an amazing home! i started doing research on rats around a year ago, thinking i would get them soon, but ended up not getting permission from my parents, which was probably the best thing. now, a year later, i am definitely going to be getting 2 ratties im about a month, and i’m really happy that i was given time to find out everything i gotta know. good luck :)

Bro u don't know the struggle lol until, you have to follow this vid as close as possible JUST so you can maybe afford to upgrade and get rid of your straight huge cardboard cage that by the way, you shouldn't even need in the first place because a shitty owner neglected the bun last...all that work bonded me tho, I'd do anything for this animal now and I couldn't imagine if it hadn't fell into my life and for me that's a big deal:)

Victoria, I really would like to compliment you on your let care. I like to consider myself a pretty good animal owner considering I have had a lot! I'm getting a bunny to step up my game. I'm sooo going to do this!
I love your cage I am definitely going to do that for my bunny when I get him/ her not sure yet!! But I love the cage! Do you recommend using that size for a bunny that wouldn't be a free range bunny. Like mine would be in its cage and not free range but I would still take home out of its cage sometimes?❤️😊
Lifeashanni I’ve had around 6 years of experience with bunnies, and if yours won’t be free range I’d give it as much space as you possibly can, or have an extra large play pen (dog xpen) that your bun goes into every day for a few hours. Hope it all works out!🤗❤️❤️
Id recommend at least 18 feet squared.
Bunnies should have at least 4 hours out of their cage every day

2 years ago when I got a rabbit I was planning on building this but I never did so now I have a 4x2 cage from amazon and it was $100. I today went to bed bath and beyond and got the grids to block off a space in my room but for that I only need one grid. So I built this cage in 20 mins and love it but need a couple more grids to make it how I want it though I don't need a cage because I'm not planning on getting a second rabbit any time soon. So now I keep building and collapsing it just for fun. I guess it's a backup cage and a great one too. Now I'm kicking myself for buying an $100 cage when I built this for $18.

so this video makes that cage assemble look Hassle free yet I had the opposite experience. got my wire shelf kit Oct 2015 at bath n beyond. the "connectors" make it not fun they suck! they seem totally different then these here in the video! my hands were a mess, u need to use pressure but not too much -etc! *just ordered a "8 panel plastic indoor out door pin" from amazon! so much easier and more sturdy!
the 8 panel pin is sweet for bunny! and the door! easy peasy!!
I think I have seen ppl build upward, a level apt for bunnies!?
-still the ease the size I'm going to suggest the *8 panel pin! for abt a hundred give or take!

How do you let Bugs roam free on carpet? Just wondering what happens if he pees!

This is a great setup... I have a similar one too for my bunnies but, I think I'll need to get another set of grid soon as the bunnies are growing up. 😅
what is used for the base?
I used foam activity mats or you can lay out 2 old yoga mats down and then cover it with a fleece blanket. fleece is the best and cheapest blanket for a bunny. I got a good sized fleece blanket at Walmart for 3.88$ (-:

This is PERFECT! I can't tell you how long I've been looking for an easy explanation of how to make these cages! And the door idea is brilliant! I wonder, though, does a bunny cage *need* to be covered on the top?
It depends, is there anything your bunny can jump on and get out. I would just to be save 😊

I put a yoga mat under mine along with a shallow layer of bedding.
Also did you try giving her/him chew toys?
@@ehtropenelopen5192 yup. I've given her wicker balls and little wooden things (100% organic, no dyes, paints, or flavors) but she's quite a rascal.

Just the right timing! I was about to pay 35 for a hand me down rabbit cage that was a little smaller for my liking. What were the names for the latches? I couldn't find it
They don't have names as I just got them from a couple of hamster water bottles I had, they were just springs with some clips on the ends.
I replicated this cage for my lil bunny and I just wanted to ask if your bunny started breaking through it? Mine began to repeatedly push through it whenever I'd put her inside. She's a tiny little holland lop.

Beautiful. I like homemade cages like that because they're cheap and they can be as big or as small as we want them to be. I like giving a cage to my bunny as he loves having his space, so the cage is more or less the space he doesn't have to share with me haha He behaves like a cat (he was raised around one)

Well, it is noty very robust, and the size of the holes is pretty big, but that being said, it is to be used inside, so it doesnt matter a lot either. So for all intents and purposes, Great engineering. not being sarcastic.. I love that you tried to make a home for your pet that is actually worth it. Kudos

So im finally ready.to.get a new bunny since a year ago my bunny that i had for 5 years passed. I totally forgot how i made his cage so. Im happy i found this video. I still have my old bunnys cage from when he was a baby imma use it till shes a little older then imma make it so she can roam more around my room bc thats what we did.with are old.bunny
I had an old dog kennel and i have 4 gerbils so i converted the dog kennel into a BIG gerbil cage with levels and built in hides and a sand bath and a digging area

Really cute! I plan on raising meat rabbits for 4H, and they will have a separate, but smaller hutch. I still feel like for them to be healthy enough to sell during fair season they're going to need more exercise. Would a cage like this (but somewhat bigger) be big enough for them to get exercise for several hours each day?
I think so, Maybe purchase a dog play pen that would give enough space!
