When you get time brother, could you show us how's the best way to edge the boards. Do you have to do them one at a time? Thanks a bunch from North Carolina!

I'm in the process of deciding which sawmill to get. I thought I had come up with all the "downsides" but I missed one completely - wind... It's windy here. Seems it's always blowing. So now I'll factor in "wind direction" when it comes to placement of the new mill. Thanks!

Something I didn’t factor in too. I’ll mill in most any weather. But not if it’s windy lol. Milling a fence may also help - depending on your layout. Thx for watching!

I don't have waste wood. It all gets used. We cook and heat with wood, no matter the species, it gets burned. If it doesn't get burned in the cookstove it get burned in the fire ring, if it doesn't burn there I bury it in the garden hugelkultur beds and if not there it gets chipped for mulch and/or compost. Just found your channel and subscribed. All the best.

Love it. A chipper is on the wish list. No waste is the goal! And I keep improving. Thanks for watching!

Ok couple of questions......1- what do you do with your saw dust and do you try to keep it dry?
2- do you try to sell the fairly consistent thickness laps for either vertical barn siding, drying shed or wood sheds?

I throw the sawdust on my trails in the woods. The laps get used to sticker boards or as siding

You didn't even mention the physical labor handling logs, slabs, trimmings, and lumber after sawing! That is the hardest part.

    • @spiritof7673

It’s kinda sick - but I love the labor and my body needs the work. However, it is no doubt a physically challenging hobby! Thanks for watching!
