    Don,Thank you for a very informative and unbiased review. I've watched at least 15 videos and none were as good as yours. Regardless of which dash cam I finally buy, yours the best!

      Thanks 🙏🏻. I try point out features and how they may be useful to the viewer. Ultimately, I try to leave the decision to the audience on what makes the most sense for their application.

    Nice video. I just got this dash cam. I truly wanted the u1000 pair but the deal for the f800 pro included a new ivolt external battery, so I couldn’t resist.
    I’m installing it on a similar suv, and agree in the center below the oem radar detection is too low for me.
    Thanks for the great video. I’ll install mine in the same place as yours using the ivolt battery. I will probably turn off the alerts it produces as my suv has that standard and I prefer to here that one

    What fuse did you end up using for the power?

    For parking mode, i believe you can use a battery pack charger that kicks over from your car battery to a back up battery pack. Have you heard of that?

    • @Donslife

      Yes I have but haven’t used one

    Is there a way to view the videos without being in the car?
    Everytime I get in my car I need to reconnect.
    And I can’t view footage unless I’m in my car?! Is this by design?

    That is just great if you can figure out how to connect the dash cam to your phone & keep it connected you a better man than I!!!

      In my experience if dashcams that broadcast a wifi connections for using the app….you are going to lose your connection often unless you have the app open and are actively using it

    Thank you for the video. Did you actually test ADAS features like the lane departure warning? those are my main interest in this product and I would like to know if they work well please

    • @Donslife
      @Donslife  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did play around with ADAS. I would say it is pretty good in clear weather since it is relying on the camera for the feature. Keep this in mind for mounting location and every vehicle will have visibility variables.

    Donslife thanks for the video. Plan on taking this project on myself. My only issue so far is the fuse box. Will be using fuse taps for 2 channel cam. 2023 Escalade ESV- Could you guide me in which fuse to use in the escalade? This freaks me out involving the fuses. Thanks in advance

    • @Donslife
      @Donslife  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No worries. Assuming yours is the same:
      Red wire on Fuse F26 10A-USB
      Yellow wire on Fuse F40 10A-Not used (live circuit)

    I have the F200 version. I have a camera in the rear window. Installed by my Chevy dealer. When I hit the R button on my phone for rear camera it is just black it’s all set up correctly. Like I said when I choose the rear camera the screen is blank/black. Do you have any suggestions. Mine is the Thinkware F200. Thanks

      If you pull the microSD card is there 2 files? One for each camera? Otherwise try a hard reset with the rear camera plugged in

    Regarding "parking mode" and voltage protection, I'm reading user feedback and many are mentioning the fact that parking mode will restrict you to approximately 2 or three hours of footage before shutting off. I'm wondering if you have any feedback on this? Thank you.

    • @Donslife
      @Donslife  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You are correct. Continuous recording with the vehicle off will drain the battery faster. If you drive the vehicle daily the battery voltage would usually stay high enough to keep the camera i parking mode, just waiting for a potential event to occur. Then if it happened, the recording would be a measure of minutes and hopefully capture something. Then after driving the next say, your battery would be mostly topped up again. I can see leaving the vehicle parked for several days without driving would eventually put the camera to sleep due to the voltage drop over time. In that case it wouldn’t respond to anything until the vehicle is started.

    Is there a voice command feature? Can I manually record? Is there a Bluetooth physical button (like the VIOFO models)? Is there a subscription fee?

    • @Donslife
      @Donslife  ปีที่แล้ว

      Voice command - No. Manually record - Yes. Physical Bluetooth button - No. Subscription - optional and only for connected services. I use it without a subscription.

    Would you know if this dashcam is alright to sit in cold conditions like -40 Celcious and still work fine?

    • @Donslife
      @Donslife  ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven’t long-term tested ours in -40°C since the truck is garage parked but it works when parked outside for 8 hrs in those temps. The ambient temperature in the vehicle is certainly a little warmer.

  • @roryjoseph7645
    @roryjoseph7645 ปีที่แล้ว

    The data consumption is a very prohibitive if you want to use all the features. For this reason I just use the camera without the features.

    Do you prefer this one or the lanmodo

    • @Donslife
      @Donslife  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are not at all comparable. Lanmodo better for night vision and this is better for recording incidents while driving or parked

      They have a few depending on models and feature. Look for Thinkware DashCamLink. Pretty sure that’s the one. I have reviewed a couple different ones that required different apps. They are free apps, so that’s good

    I have a garmin dashcam tandem with a parking mode hardwired to my car would the hardwire cable I use currently, work with this dashcam or does it have to be a specific hardwire kit for the specific dashcam?
