    Excellent video! I just installed a Dongar adapter on my wife's 2019 Crosstrek and watching this video before made the installation a breeze!

    Excellent video, this was very helpful! Just did this on my 2021 Crosstrek. One thing to note, for anyone who is having a hard time accessing the 5 pin wire, you can remove the entire eyesight assembly @3:15. It's held together by three 8mm nuts.

      Good tip! Always much easier when you can see things clearly :D I figured removal of the EyeSight assembly was a bit daunting ha!

    This video was SUPER helpful, when I just installed my Dongar adapter. Took 15 minutes. On my 2022 Limited, I only had to deal with 2 wire connectors, the "big" white one and a smaller black one. Subaru must have refined their install.

    Great video! Thanks for putting this together! Saved me so much time! 😊
    Nearly exactly the same steps on my 2024 Crosstrek Limited with auto dimming mirrors. Only difference is mine has phillips screws instead of the bolts and the Dongar connector is the 10 pin type B.

      @Auto-Minute  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey! Glad it helped and thanks for sharing that bit of information. They've traditionally been the 5-pin connectors, so I am surprised to hear the '24 Crosstrek model year using the 10-pin Type B.

    Some have said that even if you don't have the dimming mirror that the cable is still tucked in there. Anyone else notice this?

    Thank you for the video. I have a 2022 Crosstrek with the auto-dim mirror, so this should work. However, it seems like most dash cams do not include batteries anymore, so you need a full time power source. I am curious if you just don't use the parking G-force monitoring or do you have another solution for power while the car is off?

    • @Auto-Minute
      @Auto-Minute  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Chris! I actually don't use the parking mode feature and fortunately haven't had the need to *knock on wood*....for a constant power solution, it would require wiring tapping into the vehicles battery. I have seen a few new dashcams with build-in battery banks, but they tend to be quite expensive and bulky :|

      @@Auto-MinuteI know this is an old video but hopefully you’re still out there. If I don’t have the auto dimming mirror would it simply be just connecting it to where the mirror would be connected if I had one?

    • @Auto-Minute
      @Auto-Minute  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@stevencastro2856 Hey Steven! I am around ha! If you don't have the auto-dimming mirror, I believe there's still a connector port available on your Crosstrek. What I'm not sure about is whether it's a 3-pin or 5-pin connector up there. Let me know if you do inspect behind the plastic shroud.

    I’ve seen similar videos that use the Dongar for the Outback’s. I’ve also heard of some complaints that having this setup damages the car’s electrical system. Have you been experiencing any issues with this?

    • @Auto-Minute
      @Auto-Minute  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Hasan! I've set this up on my gf's CX-5 and a few of my buddies have it on their cars as well which includes this Crosstrek. We haven't had any issues with interfering of the electrical systems. It was very simple and worked as intended. If there's anything that was a hassle, it was the process of taking the panels apart ha!

    Where do you hide the excess cable on the dash cam?

    • @Auto-Minute
      @Auto-Minute  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Brandon - There is space inside the panel where you can tuck the cables. There's an opening (towards the front - facing windshield) from where I routed the cable through.

    Nice video! Will this power the car during parking/surveillance mode?

    • @Auto-Minute
      @Auto-Minute  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey there, the adapter is designed to work only when your vehicle is ON. Parking/Surveillance mode is pretty sweet, but requires drawing power from the vehicles battery. This could be an issue if parked for an extended period of time and isn't ideal for your vehicles battery as well.

    • @purplerambutan8312
      @purplerambutan8312 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Auto-Minute thanks for your response. On the other hand, you dont recommend parking mode? Even if you have that option drawing power from the battery? They have this feature when it automatically shuts down when it detected low battery
