I didn't know an abandoned west side gang territory was so acoustically complementing to the clarinet.

Pretty good guys, actually. We were on their territory and they washed the place, they filmed us, they took care of us. Reed trafficking is so powerfull.
This is it!! This to me is the video that officially got me into classical music. In 7th grade, I was looking up videos of odd instruments, as I would often do. I had a certain fascination, and still do, with the harmony clarinets, especially the contras. It was likely then that I was recommended this video. I loved this video so much, and it became one of the recordings I'd listen to over and over everyday while "doing homework." Then one day, I realized "oh, this piece is originally for orchestra? Well, this is basically my favorite thing ever, so I might as well listen to the original." I of course came across the piece conducted by Bernstein himself, and in a funny way, I was actually quite disappointed by the original because I was shocked to not find those quirky tempo things you did that I loved so much. Of course I grew to love the original as well, and soon I began to realize that my favorite part was no longer the quirky fun bits, but the absolutely beautiful multi-meter section with the countermelody. That is when I began to appreciate the beauty in music, and with that the emotion in music. The rest is and will be history; I'm now a classical bassoon undergraduate at the Manhattan School of Music, and next year I will be studying abroad in Finland at the Sibelius Academy. I owe a lot to this video, and, after having finally revisited it again, find it to be an absolutely fantastic performance. It is of my favorite recordings of anything ever, and that's even if I do not include how much it changed my life.

Wow...! We are very touched by your message and happy to have been able to bring you into classical music ! We wish you to live beautiful moments with your bassoon, and above all to have fun with classical music ... being quirky can be cool! Cheers!
Vous êtes étonnants. Jolie sonorité de la clarinette soprano. Bel ensemble.

Wonderful. I"ve always felt that this overture was perfect for chamber winds - years ago I made an arrangement for woodwind quintet. Bravi - sounds great!
There are no words to properly give justice to how wonderful your performance and arrangement are. You all make me want to repair my clarinet and play again!
Played Clarinet in med School with University of Miami Music Masters students. Played the Weber quintets and Brahms Sonatas. until arthritis permanently stopped my ability to play. That was 40 years ago. The precision ,tone and ensemble togetherness here is simply outstanding . I will bet they are all French Buffet Crampon clarinets -they have the best tone of all clarinets. Simply superb.

Ah, this gives me such chills. I played the wind of arrangement of this with a Texas All-State Band last year, and hearing this arrangement brings back amazing memories. Thank you for performing this.
Magnificent. Now I ust try to find John Curry's interpretation of it.

Thank you all ! We will perform Candide this summer, in Assisi (Italy), for the ClarinetFest® 2013 : clarinet.org/clarinetFest2013.asp. For further details, please check our website !
Absolutely brilliant. I would say that there is a slight gap in the sound between the second soprano clarinet and the bass. Perhaps if would have been tonally better to use an alto with some of it's lower notes thrown in..?

A basset horn is now in the quartet, you can hear it in "Malinconia" and "Opéra Sans Diva", our two last albums ! Available online !
Hi friends! are you playing outdoors? because i've heard people saying that the clarinet sounds bad and muted outdoors, but if where are you playing is an outdoor site, i can say that the clarinet sounds good no matter the place and the acoustic where you play it (if you play it good, obviusly). Thanks for your music, very nice interpretation. The picollo sounds beautiful, it's not strident and i like a woman to play the bass clarinet, she plays with much passion and a beautiful sound.
I play the Bb clarinet and I always move while playing a song I especially enjoy playing as well as my other classmates. the band director does not get upset and agrees that moving although can be bad for beginners and their airflow, is okay with us moving.

This is amazing! Where can I find this arrangement for clarinet quartet??

maybe the location was chosen to demonstrate how beautiful, classic culture can beautify even the ugliest, newest places.
