  • In this video taken at a private FR Release® certification seminar in Scottsdale Arizona with the Arizona Diamondbacks (MLB) medical staff, Dr. Spina discusses the influence of the lumbosacral junction on scapular mechanics. More specifically, he demonstrates how the control of lower lumbar extension can dramatically improve scapular setting and spinal posture.

Would this ability be greatly affected if someone had a fused L5-S1 or can you still maintain correct lumbosacral functioning with this congenital anomaly?

Hello Edward...thank you for the comment.
The 'beef' is what I teach in my assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and conditioning seminars. If you were to visit FunctionalAnatomyBLOG you would find various videos on different topics...this particular video was just a clip of one of my seminars where I was discussing an assessment concept

Andreo, I started following your videos and so far I'm learning a lot. What if a patient is your typical office worker who sits all day and he has upper cross syndrome but hyperextension in the lumbosacral junction (due to tight psoas mm.) while stay standing? However, when sitting he has upper cross syndrome & decreased lumbar extension? If you had him extend his lumbsacral junction it causes discomfort/pressure would you rather have him extend more with the upper lumbar spine and activate the gluts to tile the pelvis posterior slightly to take out the hyperextension of the lumbosacral area? Just curious on your opinion. Thank you.

Try stretching your hip flexors and your chest, and then middle trap & rear deltoid activation exercises and glute activation exercisees.

Smart guy and all, it just seem like the philosophy of treatment, His hands on workshops in treatments must be real good, I guess. So much he has to say about getting result and why, I find very interesting. Where is the beef ? Where is the treatment ?

I have 3 systems comprising my seminar curriculum. The first two systems are geared towards manual medical practitioners and the third towards the training community as well. Please visit my website "FunctionalAnatomySeminars" to learn more
