How do you handle the first hairpin and turn 8, what markers do you use to let off for the hairpin? and turn 8 almost being a double apex is it better to just hug the inside? or go wide to hit the second apex and get a better exit. My best is a 22 flat, so im itching to get into the sub 22s LOL
Im 14 and a month ago i got a 24 second lap for my first go kart race ever in the adult one. It was so fun and my whole family was surprised i got 2nd place in adult race
i’m twelve and last year when i was eleven, i did a 31.4 second lap (one of the highest scores at the time) and recently, i went again and got second place with the adult one aswell
@@dawsoncampbellthanks! That was with a full track and I was breaking for the high speed hairpin since I thought it was faster. I can't wait to go back and try your line and see if it helps.
Toronto is more technical, you actually need to use the brakes to be fast. But I've also done over 500 races at Toronto and less than 20 at Mississauga so I'm a little biased.
@@oscaardmp9664 slow down the most for turn 4 (the first hairpin). Then turn 2. then the final turn. just releasing off the gas pedal to slow down enough for each of the above corners.
I saw 21 sec lap, and I thought you were trippin' until I realized this wasn't my local track lol. I co to the one in sacramento California, and the fastest laptime is only 26 sec. It is a huge track, with smother turns
@dawsoncampbell got it. So turn 2, 4 and 8 are the let off points I think although sometimes I've got away with full throttle on turn 8 if I go wide but idk if that's most efficient from a time perspective
@@hellakray8514 yes those are my let off points. Turn 8 is dependent on which kart you're in. I find a quick lift off the throttle to get the tighter line is faster. Let me know if you try it out!
Went for the first time last week, thought the hopping through the corners was costing speed and was going to try braking next time to get rid of the hopping, are you saying it’s not needed?
First time on mississuaga track I hit in the 23's. I was thinking I needed to be in the middle before the 2nd last corner before the finish line. This video confirms. Keeping to the right of center across the finish line...going to try that. Everytime I'm there...never had track to myself...can definitely see the advantage....as I lose time trying to pass some guys...hard to get a clean lap. But I keep getting in the 23's. I will try this next week...fourth time for me at this track. Only started last month. My 13 year old son is getting 23's too...he has never carted before. We decided to watch some videos to see where we can shave off these few seconds. Great video!
Thanks for the vid. Do you think this line could get a 20 sec lap as well depending on how the track is that day and the kart you have? Also, for turn 2, what do you think about not hitting the apex and staying in the middle?
@@dawsoncampbell what do you mean by flat out? Also, did you use the brake at any point? And for turn 9 > turn 1, were you able to experiment with hugging the outside barrier vs inside barrier? Whenever I've taken the outside route, i usually get a worse time so I either stick to the middle or the inside but was curious if you had different results.
@@hellakray8514 flat out as in full gas pedal. No brakes anywhere on the course although you can use the brakes to settle the kart down before the hairpins. Turn 9 into turn 1 you can stay all the way to the right (inside) no need to bring it back to the left as then you're just covering more distance.
Yo Dawson I can’t seem to get below a 23.00/22.8, I slide too much coming into turn 8 - any tips? I’m also like 6’3” and 190lbs so maybe that’s a factor?
weight is a factor. but you're only 40 pounds more than me so shouldn't be more than a few tenths. Try to slow down more by getting off the throttle earlier. it's really important not to slide there.
@@dawsoncampbell thanks for the quick reply bro, I’m gonna be going again in a week or two - I’ll have to try lifting earlier. Do you brake at all for rotation at the hairpins btw?
I went yesterday first time. Did a 22.6 and then a 22.3. wasn’t clean but the improvement was there. Wanna learn the track a bit more
Well done! Try and crack into the 21 second laps if you can.

first hairpin I let off right before I start turning. turn 8 is the final corner right? aim to hug the apex around the whole corner.
@@dawsoncampbell Sounds great man, im going this weekend so hopefully i can dip into the 21 second area. Appreciate the help!
my pleasure. good luck!
Love the video, it helped me a ton - managed a 21.6. Think you could get a low 20? The track record sits at 20.286 now
Congrats on 21 that's awesome! Mid to high 20's are possible but I really can't see a low 20 unless they bump up the power or something.

How do I stop “bouncing” on the k1 speed karts?
go slower in the corners.
You need to go slower to go faster lol
Awesome video it helped me a lot thanks! Are you lifting before turn 7?
7 no but 8 yes.

just letting off the gas. not using the brakes at all on a fast lap.

don't use the brakes here.
