👀 BUY: Shure SM7B : amzn.to/3AGFJaX (Affiliate)
Hello mate, you should put the other affiliate links aswell... I bought a Cloudlifter + my XLR cables thanks to your video.
I think some of the people coming here already have the microphone !
Can you give me the link where to buy rodecaster pro from? Thanks
I thought the 7b has a built in preamp to solve the 5b issues?
So basically buy the Mic + 100 accessories. Got it!
Hahah
Yes if you want that professional sound.
Welcome to premium audio recording
Loool exactly
You really only need a audio interface, the mic, and the cloud lifter. The rest is preferences. Doesn't affect the sound much
Great description of the value of the SM7B. I really like how you explain what is great and what is not useful. Thx lot
Glad you are posting again.
Great setup video. Links to items such as the XLR cable you recommend would have been helpful though. Thanks!
Disclaimer: if you’re a beginner and on a budget, this video isn’t for you.
dude, bought the mic thinking i could use it like any other mic i've used...boy was i wrong. IT DOESNT EVEN COME WITH ITS OWN CABLE. ridiculous.
I have the Harmoney 224 interface, it goes up to 60db of gain and runs my sm7b with no cloud lifter very well with absolutely no audible noise at normal volume levels. obviously if you crank everything up to max you get some noise but you are never going to do that while recording so it makes no difference.
Yeah not sure if this guy is sponsored for this but needing a cloudlifter is out dated at this point and if you are getting this mic it's serious business so you should be treating the audio any way.
Note to self: self, you don’t need this mic.
me dropping over 1300 on a mic and all of its needed parts, yeahhh. am I just a basic gamer who never streams and the most I'll use this mic for is talking to friends and sometimes doing VA work, yeahhh. Was this a good buy, fuck yeah I love audio and it matters alot to me when doing anything and its a big interest of mine thanks for the amazing advice and everything
Hi. Did you get the whole set?
1300? This mic is a lot less.
So helpful, thanks!
Another great tutorial! Thank you! I love my SM7B and seem to have it set up proper. I have been using the scarlett 2i2 with a cloudlifter, do you think changing my interface to the rodecaster pro would make a difference?
Yes it would eliminate any type of hissing in your video and make it so infinitely better and it will save you time in post processing.
I bought exactly the same set that he recommend here, including the rode caster 2, and I have the hissing noise
I am a huge fan of the "a forever setup" idea. A lot of TH-camrs who promote cheaper mics really do people a deservice - why waste money on cheaper stuff only to keep dreaming of the golden standard. Why not get the good stuff from the start? It's cheaper too, in the long run. It's not as if you have to buy SM7Bs or CloudLifters every month or week. And with the RTX Voice you can also get rid of background noise.💙
The sm7b is a dynamic mic though so you don't even need phantom power to get it to work
The phantom power is for the cloudlifter.
Nice video. Very informative....I heard you don't need a cloud lifter if you have a rodecaster pro 2. Is that correct? Thanks amigo
YOU DO NOT NEED THE CLOUD LIFTER
You don't need a cloudlifter with this microphone..I have it with a GoXLR and it sounds just fine...my gain is not high, I have zero line noise...If you want to listen to what people say online and waste money then do what you want I guess. As far as the shure earbuds go..there's many other IEM's out there that provide way higher quality sound for gaming compared to these..not saying they are bad though
I love everything, but i dont like to monitor my mic. It messes me up when im talking and I hear myself back. But good video, i love everything!
Is there a specific extension cable you should use for the headphones, or will any work without reducing quality?
🔴❤️Hi Brother
Thank you for the great video
I would like to purchase MS7B
for my my six and TH-cam
Which accessory that I need to connect the mic to iPhone 4 years old
Thank you
I’m looking for your reply
May God bless you
I poor channel that I am spreading the Bible
Man I thought I was going to get everything I needed with the mic 😒
thanks for the video but why dont you link the products?
I tried a bunch of digital\USB mixers to work with Discord and gaming, and they all had horrible latency. The only combo that has worked for me is the RME Raydat and an optical connection with a Focusrite Octopre Dynamic.
To be honest you save more money getting a preamp shure mic .I still use a mixer to control sound but its way cheaper then getting the cloud and xlr ...just saying ..
Thank you for this video. Excellent job. A question i have though, is if i'm recording into software like Camtasia, it seems like my Rodecaster levels and recording software levels conflict at times and i get 'hot' sounds at times. When i record directly to the MicroSD card in the Rodecaster i have much better results.
Thanks man!
So.. it's hang five?
what cloudlifter should one pick? - i see the CL-1 and CL-Z has a huge price difference.
Hey Andrew, question for you: Do you think I could get the Focusrite Vocaster one or Elgato Wave XLR and be fine without the Cloud Lifter?
get an audient interface with the mic and you wont need a cloud lifter. i have the audient id4 mkii it's like $150 and it has the same high quality pre amps as their like actual high end studio equipment that costs thousands of dollars
this is best guide i have ever seen, thank you!
The setup is very good, but too expensive. What about MV7?
Note: phantom power is for the cloud lifter. Dymanic mics normally do not use phantom power, so this may be a point of confusion in this set up.
What software do you recommend recording in?
He uses Open Broadcasting Software to screen record, record audio. It's free. Most video editing software will let you record audio too.
This is why I got the SM7dB
all those wires will drive me crazy
Yeah, and if you are going to live stream, you need to boost the sm7b's signal unless you don't care about your audio quality. If that be the case, why did you buy the legendry sm7b? Even if you are going to remix or master your recording, why eff around with filtering line noise when you can just not induce it in the 1st place. Cloudlifter. Or equivalent (there really isn't one. At least for the sm7b, in my opinion. ) Don't listen to the people who say you don't need to signal boost it. I didn't use a cloudlifter with the sm7b I broadcasted with for 5 years, but I was in a friggin AM radio broadcasting studio. Not in a home studio, which is what this excellent setup video is about. The only thing I disagree with Andrew about is the headphone thing. I like wearing my DT 990 pros while live streaming. But that's probably because I was a radio broadcaster. I do admit Rogan looks a bit goofy with those Sennheiser HD 280s on his bald head, but his views don't seem to suffer much because of it.
Can you post a link to the Shure earphone monitors, please?
This is it! I was plugging the mic straight into my interface and getting a ton of room noise/hiss. The cloud lifter cleared that right up.
Depend on people, having a earbude long time can be annoying in your ear😀
Why a cloudlifter instead of a better and much cheaper inline preamp like triton fethead?
eh saying things like "get blank if anyone says diff they dont know what they are talking about" is just dumb, there are plenty of ways to achieve noiseless clean gain without a cloudlifter. also saying things like "the most legendary vocal microphone ever" just wanky and hyperbole
Wonderful video! How do you have that animated background? Can you please show me?
where can i get that big windscreen you have?
If you're running this with a Go XLR mini or full version you don't need a cloudlifter
are you ultimately recording right into Final Cut ProX or another editing program....or...recording onto a card?
What options do you have this mic (the different notches on the bottom or back of the microphone?
Doesnt sound good. I hear noise while you speak,
so i guess its a noise gate. I dont want this noise.
love your cable management, like mine.
Could you do a tuto ?
What’s a good low voice xlr cable ?
Hello, thank you for making this video. I bought exactly the same set that you recommend here, including the rode cast 2, and I have a Ssssss noise that remains even when setting the DB to 35 34. What else can I do to improve it? I invested more than 2 thousand dollars in the two sm7B microphones, two cloudlifters, the Rode caster console, 2 microphone bases and cables. Does anyone have any advice?
Thank you.
Your studio speakers' name please..
I have an Elgato Wave DX with the Wave XLR right now for my vtuber gaming channel and I'm wondering if there would be any point in upgrading to the Shure SM7B in the future and maybe a Bridgecast XLR interface what would you recommend
Which software should i use for my shure sm7b for recording on my mac plz
Video deserves more likes tbh
How to operate what's on the backside of the Shure SM7B?
Just picked up the mic and Cloudlifter or in your vernacular..I “got it”. Great sound running into my Scarlett 2i2. Don’t need a mixer yet. I run into Audition. Just figuring out what settings to use on the mike. Going to start with flat. Thoughts?
Which gen focusrite do u have?
Hey i have cloudlifter, shure headphone, sm7b mic, and focusrite. It seems like the sound comes out either the headphones or laptop instead of my mic 🤦🏾♀️ what im doing wrong? Also, it doesn’t gives a professional sound, just my normal voice
Brother but you have a Rodecaster Pro, why you use the cloudlifter?
exactly, I'm running wave xlr with 75db. I'm not buying a cloudlifter
Can anyone tell me what is the name of that purple XLR cable, i want it, it would perfectly match my setup, thanks...
What is the Recording Device Level that you have on the computer ? Cause I can set it to 25, and have to increase the gain on my scarlett, or else I can set it to 80 and decrease the gain on the scarlett, which one would give you a better result ?
Stop saying got it please
Plz sir,do shure SM 7b mic work well with focusrite 2in2 out well,I'm a singer trying to setup a home studio,I have bought the focusrite 2in2out already, going to get my mic tomorrow, and I'm choosing either shure sm7b and rode nt2a?
GOT IT!?!? 🤨
Sorry, I don't get this: Why would anyone design a dynamic microphone with a signal output so low that you need to boost it with a 'cloud lifter' that requires phantom power? Is this technology going backwards? I use the RodeCaster in a gig I do, and even though I've been a Rode user and a fan for over 30 years (starting with an NT-1) I'm not a fan of any mixer that treats the audio engineer like an idiot. What's the matter with good pre-amps and a gain structure knob with a peak light? I can't believe Shure would make such a monumental mistake as to market a microphone with lousy sensitivity.
Exactly that what i was wondering about. Iam planning to buy this mic with all accessories needed to issolate the surrounding noise in the room as much as possible.
Iam a noob in mic knowledge, but I have a cheap that record everything, keyboards typing, the vans in the room, even farting man😂.
So i was wondering of this cloudlifter was absolute necessary or adds any quality?
thank you
Hey i have cloudlifter, shure headphone, sm7b mic, and focusrite. It seems like the sound comes out either the headphones or laptop instead of my mic 🤦🏾♀️ what im doing wrong? Also, it doesn’t gives a professional sound, just my normal voice
Question, when I hit record on FL Studio it sounds like static and my voice sounds deep and robotic. It only happens when I hit record and I don’t know why it’s happening. I’ve been searching videos and nothing helps
i built a square booth with molton curtains in a noisy environment but i want to just cover 3 sides ....which side should i leave uncovered? front, side or back of the sm7b?
Thanks for creating this video, Andrew; question - Would this be a good mic to use to drown out vehicles passing within 500ft of the Studio?
Great video. I have noticed my SM7B transfers the sound when I touch it throughout my audio chain. So Mic to Cloudlifter, to DBX286s, to Scarlett 2. But when I type or I touch the microphone, I hear the room and even me touching the mic. Like say I scratch the back end of the mic. It never did that before. Any tip what it can be?
Personally, if you want to monitor your own audio while in game or at all times like a audio junkie like myself. I recommend voicemod audio software. an added bonus is the voice changer that you can use or leave.
So i got the mic, cloud lifter, XLR cables, & stand. Do i need anything else?? The mixer?
Man thanks for sharing I was just trying to figure out how all this works and everyone is either gate keeping or thinks you’re telepathic and should just know this
Got it?!?
what brand of xlr cable is best for this set up?
Just get any cable.
But Sweetwater sells them as well if you’re worried about where it’s coming from
Mogami brand
hey would u recommend the cloudlifter with Rode caster Duo? I watched a video they recommended the *Rode caster duo should is not recommended with cloudlifter *due to hissing noise. so without Cloudlifter it makes the mic sound more cleaner.
whats the stand called anyone know?
It looks like the Rode PSA1
Hi I gave the Sony A74 camera. I just got the Mv7x Shure mic. How do I connect to my camera without a mixer? Can I use a go wireless mic transmitter to bridge the gap between these two?
It’s the shaka 🤙🏾
This is a great video. Wish he had mentioned the back settings of the microphone.
Is the cloud lifter needed with the gen 4 focusrites? They boosted the gain on them
Why do you have phantom power on?
I am using a cloudlifter
@@awalldigital Ahh didn't know you needed to juice the CL . Thanks for the reply and the useful video
Hey there I'm hearing some high siblings.I's that the mixer?
I still have line noise with a cloud lifter... any idea why that is?
I am with you on the Shure Bud Headphones. I love my Sony Headphones, but after a couple years. Yeah. no feeling it.
Note: the Shure SM7B does NOT need phantom power
The cloud lifter does
@@rod-snts I have to remember not all interfaces have enough gain for this mic
Looks like I have to buy some more stuff thanks for making this video
What model of rode mixer was it in the video?
You said not to cheap out on the mic cord but idk in what way a more expensive cord differs from a less expensive cord. Can you explain? Thanks.
Noise in the signal
Bro’s sponsored by shöre
OBS filters?
hi sir what app/software do you use in pc for shure sm7b + alto mixer? if ever that is free... i wanna do some song covers but i dont know which app to use. thank you so much for your reply
💪
What's a good low noise xlr cable? Mine is quite cheap and im looking to upgrade
Is the fethead still a good alternative to cloudlifter?
you dont need a cloudlifter if youre plugging the sm7b into a rodecaster pro lol
phantom power does fuck all to dynamic mics
It activates the cloud lifter in this setup
Great video, you just helped to set mine up for me.
Excellent tutorial, please share the mode or link for sure pro ear bud headphones. Thank you
Thanks
