This song has less rock than some of their other songs, especially the early ones. Each song is different, but the rock is always there. If you like rock then watch their debut song Chase Me and it's sequel Good Night. Dreamcatcher are storytellers so their songs are rarely standalones. Boca is the second song in the Dystopia trilogy which is about internet bullying. Scream and Odd Eye are the other two songs. Chase Me and Good Night are the first two songs in a seven song sequence called the Nightmare story arc. That story deals with being tempted by the dark side of yourself and the consequences that follow. Dreamcatcher songs are always about something, and they are very socially conscious. BEcause is one of their few standalone songs so you can watch that one without spoiling a story line. It's a fantastic video, literally.
Welcome to the Dreamworld! Dreamcatcher are very unique. They are the dark angels of Kpop and the only girl group who consistently incorporate Rock and Metal in their title tracks, fusing that with Kpop into something that basically is a new genre. They also are drenched in horror and social criticism, which again is special. Plus, they are massively talented, all of them. And while the girls look like they could rip out your spine when they are on stage, off stage they are adorable crackheads. 😉 Boca means "mouth" in Spanish and Portuguese and is part 2 of the Dystopia trilogy, which deals with bullying and hate comments, in particular the online variant ("A trick behind a mask, a ridiculous freak" from Scream). Boca has the lines "Why do you fill your precious time with hate" and "Too many angels dying now", which points to the effects those comments can have. Several Kpop idols have committed suicide in recent years, most likely because of cyber-bullying, but this is also about all the unnamed people who suffer from online bullies. A girlgroup tackling such a subject impresses the hell out of me. They literally go to war in this video and tell haters to go and shut their "Boca" in the lyrics. And the song is absolutely awesome! Who said you can't have three different musical genres in one song?
Yay! Thank you for checking out Dreamcatcher! When it comes to the rock they always incorporate it in different ways so you never know what style and how much rock, but it's always there. For some of their "darker" titles, for a darker sound I would suggest Vision, Scream, or Odd Eye. For a darker concept I would suggest Goodnight, You and I, BEcause, and OOTD. OOTD is their latest title track in which they are portraying themselves as villains who are luring their fans in by appearing perfect, with a glamorous life, only to sacrifice the fan at the end of the video to a magical crown that promises them power! The conclusion of the story will be their next comeback sometime in July! ^_^
The one that you spotted her lip curl is Gahyeon. Her smile can be sweet cutie but also a bit villain vibe like Joker in Batman movie. For me it'll be like her evil grin saying "heh, I successfully stole your bias spot, right?". Bcs the first time I found them I immediately chose 2 biases and soon in few days added 1 but not Gahyeon (yet). 2022 April she kinda stole the spotlight, shaking me but I tried to be loyal only have 3 (main) biases, but latest comeback she destroyed me through the roof and I broke my limit from trio bias to quartet (and quintet later)
theres actually 7 members in total! handong was in china for about a year or so due to the pandemic and was unable to participate in a couple releases! i recommend their debut ‘chase me’, and two new-ish releases: ‘BEcause’ - calmer in a way and references the movie US in its mv ‘bonvoyage’ - very emotional sort of rock ballad(?) its very pretty and is a farewell to the earth due to global warming/pollution
The first time I heard them I literally said to myself what in the Evanescence is going on because I wasn't expecting this from a Kpop group. And yes, I'm a relative newbie. Now I'm collecting as many of their albums as I can
The chick is Siyeon (Shee-on), aka Singnie. Dreamcatcher's Wolfy 🐺and the group's Main Vocal. She an amazing vocalist, that has released songs both with Dreamcatcher and solos (Paradise and Start Over - an official remake of the original). She also has many interesting covers (eg Speechless, Betelgeuse). I highly recommend her songs. To go epic Rock with Dreamcatcher try Deja Vu next. It's really amazing. ( 🔗th-cam.com/video/W761DtH1oRg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=wwZVU2WpxupB_NP4 ). Also Maison, Reason and Bon Voyage are really good songs. With over 7 hours of music, Dreamcatcher don't have bad songs.
I agree with the suggester's inclusion of Dreamcatcher with Mamamoo and EXID. They are what I like to call "woman groups" as they are more mature in the way they style and carry themselves, as well as in the music they perform. Big, powerhouse vocals paired with thoughtful lyrics and cinematic visuals. _(Don't get me wrong, I like a classic, cutesy girl group as much as the next person, so this is not meant to insult other groups.)_
