When lots of groups usually have different sounds and concepts for every comeback, dreamcatcher keeps their signature rock-based sounds and dark concepts consistently since their debut. Butttt despite having rock-based sounds, their vocals aren't 'drown' by the heavy instrumentals in the songs. For clarification, Dreamcatcher is called Ateez's "sister group" because they share a lot of the same producers. Dreamcatcher's main producers were Leez and Ollounder, two members of the production group "Edenary" that makes Ateez's music, but for at least four years now other members of the production group have worked with both groups regularly: Buddy, Peperoni, Oliv, Maddox, Tankzzo, Door, and LAKOV just off the top of my head. I don't know why some people are being so fussy in the comments about this, but when I first became a fan it was one of the biggest talking points and shared common interest between both groups was that they shared producers (there is another newer boy group, Xikers, under the same label as Ateez that also has the same producers). Also a quick note: There is a member missing from "BOCA" and "Scream," Handong (she had dark blue hair in "Justice" and brown hair with bangs in "Deja Vu," which was one of her most iconic lines ["holding this pain"]). They used to only share LEEZ and Ollounder, but after LEEZ signed an exclusive contract with the company HiHat, Ollounder pulled in other producers from ATEEZ's production team Edenary to help make Dreamcatcher's music. Now the two groups share more producers than they used to. What I love about Edenary's work with ATEEZ and Dreamcatcher (other than the fact that I'm a die hard for their production style) is they manage to curate a unique image that distinguishes the groups from each other even though they're produced by the same people. For example, ATEEZ's music feels adventurous, free-spirited, rebellious, and grand. Meanwhile Dreamcatcher's music feels mysterious, magical, foreboding, and resilient. They're two of my favorite groups with Dreamcatcher being my ults. Other favorites of mine are Infinite (a 2nd gen boy group) and PLAVE (a 5th gen virtual group). I think those two are also worth checking out.

They also are drenched in horror and social criticism, which again is special. Plus, they are massively talented, all of them. And while the girls look like they could rip out your spine when they are on stage, off stage they are adorable crackheads. 😉 Justice is part two of a two-part series, the first one is OOTD, which intentionally sounds very differently. While OOTD was about falling for the temptations of modern life and a satire on narcissism (especially influencers and fast fashion), I believe Justice is telling us to fight those temptations for a better world. It is a call to become a warrior for good in the world and fight the materialism that seems to be the most important thing for so many people in the developed countries. You can see JiU break the bonds that hold her down, and we should do the same. There are also many references to their older MVs in this. The paintings also have a deeper meaning in Chase me, there is a sword in Deja Vu and Scream, the bite into the apple is a callback to BEcause and the tree to the Dystopia trilogy - and so on. There are many more. The 8th figure in the end could also be JiU from Deja Vu, finally breaking the cycle of violence and leading to justice. Musically, I love the song. The guitars in the pre-chorus and chorus are pure heaven (just like Dongie with her wings). It has the right amount of heaviness for me, and it is an anthem and a call to action. I also love that they shortened the pre-chorus by two bars in the second half, throwing us into the chorus early. Justice is a brilliant, epic release, showing everyone that a group can still produce fantastic music and MVs after seven and a half years. Boca means "mouth" in Spanish and Portuguese and is part 2 of the Dystopia trilogy, which deals with bullying and hate comments, in particular the online variant ("A trick behind a mask, a ridiculous freak" from Scream). Boca has the lines "Why do you fill your precious time with hate" and "Too many angels dying now", which points to the effects those comments can have. Several Kpop idols have committed suicide in recent years, most likely because of cyber-bullying, but this is also about all the unnamed people who suffer from online bullies. A girlgroup tackling such a subject impresses the hell out of me. They literally go to war in this video and tell haters to go and shut their "Boca" in the lyrics. And the song is absolutely awesome! Who said you can't have three different musical genres in one song? Scream is part 1 of the Dystopia trilogy. It is mostly showing the victim's perspective of (cyber)bullying, comparing it to a medieval witch hunt and a burning at the stake. The tree is the tree of language, and it grows black fruit for every hurtful thing people say. Note also the hand gesture, it is the devil's horns introduced by Ronnie James Dio as a symbol for metal, but it originally was a gesture in the middle ages to ward off the evil eye, tying into the witch hunt theme. I really enjoy the music, it's rock mixed with EDM. Dreamcatcher are always very creative, and they are in their own genre by this point. Deja Vu is nothing short of a masterpiece. It is a beautiful, fragile ballad that kicks your teeth down your throat in the chorus. It is extra difficult to sort out, because it tells the story from two perspectives. You know how even evil people think they are the good guys? This is reflected here. One perspective is Yoohyeon's, who gets corrupted right in the beginning. She thinks JiU is bad (does not want to share power) and backstabs her and kills, imprisons or banishes the other members so that she can rule alone. The other perspective is reality, where we can see JiU be kind to Yoohyeon, but she gets killed for it. I believe this is a commentary on the different perspectives people can have about the same event. The lyrics seem to hint at an abusive relationship, where there are usually two perspectives as well, and the abuser finds excuses to justify their actions, while the abused find themselves in an endless Deja Vu.

Whenever someone is going crazy on the vocals it's a safe bet to say it's Siyeon (my ult bias 💖) but SuA, Jiu and Yoohyeon have been covering her parts beautifully when she was on break so it's slaycatcher all the way! Really glad u like the rock girls of kpop. Pity, as much I like their songs, I simply don't have the time to stan another group besides my quite extensive list, so I don't know very much about them... Following XG, Blackpink,, (G) I-dle, Aespa, Itzy, Le Sserafim, Babymonster & Mamamoo (& a few solo singers as well, like Chung Ha, Lee Young Ji & Lee Chae-yeon - the big sister of Itzy's Chaeryeong ) occupy my entire YT viewing schedule 😁. I do know 1 fact though: Siyeon, the 1 u liked in particular, who hits very high notes, had to take a pause this year, due to some health & anxiety problems, but fortunately, now she resumed her activities with the group, feeling much better. Also, from what I've read, they contribute quite a bit into writing their songs & even if they are from a smaller company (Dreamcatcher Company, formerly known as Happyface Entertainment), they have quite an established & loyal fanbase (called "InSomnia"), due to their quite unique, rock based concept.

A girlgroup tackling such a subject impresses the hell out of me. They literally go to war in this video and tell haters to go and shut their "Boca" in the lyrics. And the song is absolutely awesome! Who said you can't have three different musical genres in one song?
Scream is part 1 of the Dystopia trilogy. It is mostly showing the victim's perspective of (cyber)bullying, comparing it to a medieval witch hunt and a burning at the stake. The tree is the tree of language, and it grows black fruit for every hurtful thing people say. Note also the hand gesture, it is the devil's horns introduced by Ronnie James Dio as a symbol for metal, but it originally was a gesture in the middle ages to ward off the evil eye, tying into the witch hunt theme. I really enjoy the music, it's rock mixed with EDM. Dreamcatcher are always very creative, and they are in their own genre by this point.
Deja Vu is nothing short of a masterpiece. It is a beautiful, fragile ballad that kicks your teeth down your throat in the chorus. It is extra difficult to sort out, because it tells the story from two perspectives. You know how even evil people think they are the good guys? This is reflected here. One perspective is Yoohyeon's, who gets corrupted right in the beginning. She thinks JiU is bad (does not want to share power) and backstabs her and kills, imprisons or banishes the other members so that she can rule alone. The other perspective is reality, where we can see JiU be kind to Yoohyeon, but she gets killed for it. I believe this is a commentary on the different perspectives people can have about the same event. The lyrics seem to hint at an abusive relationship, where there are usually two perspectives as well, and the abuser finds excuses to justify their actions, while the abused find themselves in an endless Deja Vu.
Dreamcatcher is da best, great to see you like their music. For me i love Reason, Odd eye, Vision, Maison, Fairytale, so many!!!

You want to know just how vocally talented these girls are? Six of the seven of them hit that belted high note in Justice. The only one that hasn't is Dami, the rapper, as far as I know. Unless she hit it on a stage I haven't seen yet.

Welcome to the Dreamworld. Scream is the first song in the Dystopia trilogy and Boca is the second. The third song is Odd Eye. Dreamcatcher's title tracks are usually parts of continuing story lines. Deja Vu is one of the few that isn't. Justice is the second part of a story that began with OOTD. The name of the fandom is InSomnia and we are very passionate about the group as you can tell from the comments below.

Scream: Handong is missing from this one too. Names are in the CC's yay! The story behind scream is similar to boca since they're in the same trilogy. Mostly about online hate. "Please I dont want to scream" is basically saying "please stop" and for the final chorus it becomes "i just want to make you scream" as if they gave in and couldn't stay above it, fighting back instead of staying neutral.
Deja Vu has names on screen as well. Still my favorite dreamcatcher song probably, though Justice is really close now. It's hard to pick!

Whenever someone is going crazy on the vocals it's a safe bet to say it's Siyeon (my ult bias 💖) but SuA, Jiu and Yoohyeon have been covering her parts beautifully when she was on break so it's slaycatcher all the way! If you want to check out more of their mvs, I think you'd love Odd Eye (the 3rd part of Dystopia), Red Sun, Bon Voyage and Vision. All their mvs are a gd slay so I'll stop mysef there 🤣
So, so true. Siyeon is one of the best vocalists in the industry. But also, everyone in Dreamcatcher could easily be a main vocal in other girl groups. Saw them live at KCon Frankfurt, and every single one of them killed the Fight~~ part!

If I were to pick out a favorite of these four I would say Scream, it just has really stood the test of time and just has a great energy to it when they perform it at their concerts.
When it comes to recommendations I really could say any Dreamcatcher song, the quality of their music is top tier, but some personal favorites are: Maison, BEcause, BONVOYAGE, and Piri!

Really glad u like the rock girls of kpop. Pity, as much I like their songs, I simply don't have the time to stan another group besides my quite extensive list, so I don't know very much about them... Following XG, Blackpink,, (G) I-dle, Aespa, Itzy, Le Sserafim, Babymonster & Mamamoo (& a few solo singers as well, like Chung Ha, Lee Young Ji & Lee Chae-yeon - the big sister of Itzy's Chaeryeong ) occupy my entire YT viewing schedule 😁. I do know 1 fact though: Siyeon, the 1 u liked in particular, who hits very high notes, had to take a pause this year, due to some health & anxiety problems, but fortunately, now she resumed her activities with the group, feeling much better. Also, from what I've read, they contribute quite a bit into writing their songs & even if they are from a smaller company (Dreamcatcher Company, formerly known as Happyface Entertainment), they have quite an established & loyal fanbase (called "InSomnia"), due to their quite unique, rock based concept.
Endless night is my favorite Dreamcatcher song .
